    Jay,
    I watched this, immediately went on Amazon and got the 1000W overnighted, and just now installed it with zero issues. Cable management in my 4000D case is now perfect. My new 4070 Ti now has the correct native connector, and I don't care about the slightly different sleeving. THANKS for your timely publishing of this video! I had been planning on increasing my 750W PSU already, so now all is good.

      @Feyd I think he is just misinterpreting what I am saying, as if I may be worhsipping Jay. I view Jay as the go to man for the average tech/computer guy. The way he views things from the perspective of an enthusiast while also giving his views on the perspective of the average Joe is what I consider to be extremely valuable for the average tech guy. Meanwhile, LTT is fantastic to go to for a general overview and GN is the go to for down and dirty in the meat of the hardware.
      As for the Jay is a millionaire guy, I don't think he understands what I mean. Most creators ignore a lot of viewer requests and only address things that are sent to them to review, promote, or just keep. Jay went out of his way to purchase a PSU he may not need or even use at the moment simply to give his opinion, thoughts, possible problems he seen, and looked at the PSU from different angles and use cases. That is what I like about Jay.

    I imagine when Cablemod makes custom cables for the Shift family of PSUs from Corsair, it's going to have pretty unique cable runs in certain cases. Possibly to the point of having to shorten one side of the cables in certain runs. With the number of O11 case builds, it's likely that they're going to have to think a little differently about that. Synergy gave Jay those special short run cables for his powerboard that had half one length and half slightly longer/shorter (depending on where you start) and if the cable runs are anywhere as short as that, it's gonna affect the cable flex.

      I was thinking about this while watching the video. It's a good concept and as Jay points out, I'm happy that companies are "innovating", even if it's something as "trivial" as moving the connectors from one side to another. A lot of case fitting issues would disappear if they had 90 degree cables instead of "regular" ones.

      @xpyr Před rokem

      The end of cables for a modular power supply are unique for that PSU and are not standardized between different brands, and even different models from the same company. So I doubt Cablemod would do that considering it would at worse, be only for that PSU, and at best, be for a range of models from that same company. You could kill your PSU if you don't use a compatible cable with the PSU. It's why when ordering replacements, you need to specify the model and not just the brand.

    • @disguiseddv8ant486
      @disguiseddv8ant486 Před rokem

      I don't understand why you think that there would be an issue with Cablemod custom cables for the Shift (when released) when Cablemod have their 'Custom Cable Configurator' for buyers to select from for each cable that ranges from 150mm to 1000mm. This is on the buyer and not Cablemod to decide the cable lengths for their particular case. There's nothing to think about on Cablemod end! And also, it's "Singularitycases" who supplied the Powerboard and their own custom cables design. But why would you bring up Singularitycases custom cables when it's an minority small amount of PC builders that would be concerned about the cable flex of their 100mm 24pin/EPS cable?

    @JayzTwoCents with the Corsair Crystal Series 680X case you don't want to use this power supply at all. You can put it in without the cables but I doubt, that you will with the cables. The case is divided into two compartments and where the one with the motherboard has a normal width of 22cm, the other one for drives, power supply and so on is far smaller.
    So the power supply is laying on the side with its fan pointing to the side. Above the power supply are directly the drive cages. That is no problem, as the cables would face down. But you have not much space down. If you remove the 2,5" drive cage below the power supply, which is also use as rest for the supply, you would only have 4cm below the drive and you would have no chance of changing any cable (adding or removing) without completely remove the power supply and it would be a very tight fit down there.
    You can get the supply with cables in there, but the handling is horrible and you give up the space below the supply, that I personally used to stow away some of the longer cables, as there is enough space for 3 x 3,5" and 4 x 2,5" drives above the power supply.

    Here's my favorite thing about this channel so far, I've been watching for years. Jay is VERY opinionated, for good reason, he's been doing this forever. But that makes Jay so AWESOME is this: He's very opinionated, based on experience, BUT HE'S NOT AFRAID TO TRY SOMETHING EVEN IF HE THINKS IT WONT WORK, AND HE WILL CHANGE HIS OPINION BASED ON WHAT HE DISCOVERS AND HAS NO PROBLEM MODIFYING HIS APPROACH OR CHANGING HIS THOUGHTS ON AN ISSUE. He came into this fairly certain that he'd have all sorts of problems, but by the end, he gave the idea his endorsement because although he's OPINIONATED, he's also very open-minded. THAT is why I love jay. He's not afraid to speak his mind, AND not afraid to try new things and change his opinion based on what he finds. Perfect storm of good traits right there.

      @@Hagop64 If you look at your case's little metal panel that opens downwards, the one below the glass panel, it has 2 metal plates screwed to it on the inside. I had to unscrew those in order to make some room for the cables to bend and even then it was difficult to fully close the panel until the magnets made contact. The worst offender was the main motherboard cable. I had to unstick the individual cables from each other a bit in order to plug in both connectors. The actual panel is a bit bent outwards in the middle for me right now due to the cables being cluttered inside so I'm guessing I need to find a better solution to manage them.

      The O11 allows you to mount the PSU with fan facing towards the outside or the inside of the case, I think it will be fine lol. The fan will face the inside of the case but that back section has so much room that it should still have ample airflow

    • @Kupkaik
      @Kupkaik Před rokem

      @@TheOriginalFaxon In an o11, if you mount it with fan side out, the cable ports stick up. This limits you to only being to mount this in the bottom most slot of an o11 but leaves the cables going upwards into the hard drive cage. I would rather mount my PSU at the top with the cables facing down, fan facing out, but that's not an option with this PSU. I could mount it at the bottom of the case with the cables facing upwards but not even that works for every build.

    Honestly, this would seem to work well in a Corsair Graphite 380T (old niche case I know) with a little modding of making a cutout on the side where the cables come out on the support plate. This way it's easier to put a high wattage PSU in and still being able to use your 3,5" bays instead of using a SFF PSU. There is quite some dead space in the case on that side that it might be worth it depending on how far into the chassis the plugs extend.
