We Put E85 in our 2024 Mustang and Took it To The Track

  • It's been about 2 months since the last outing at Gainesville and we've got a new PB! With the non-beadlock version of our Billet Specialties wheels, lighter seats, and a mix of E85 in the tank, we were able to head back to our home track, SGMP. As the summer heat is approaching, we're doing everything we can to beat the heat and get down the 1320, plus we threw the car on the dyno to see how much it is making when it goes through the traps.

    These cars aren't flex fuel. The engine is gonna start running lean, and perhaps is already. I imagine it slowed down at night because the air was even better, but there wasn't enough fuel. You probably added e85 in between rounds as well.

    What ratio of E85/93 did you mix for the test and tune? Also, at what point of % blend of E83/93 would the factory ECU stop compensating fuel trims correctly do you think? Yes, I would love to see 93 octane only dyno numbers pls.

    Hi Scott, I had a question about the e85. What percentage blend of e85 are you running during these passes? And how are people running full tanks of e85 without a e85 tune? I have a 19 GT and I know some guys are running a gallon or two of e85 mixed with 93. What's the maxed amount you can run on the 2018 to 2023 model safely without a tune. Also, I had a question about the 10r80 and the adaptive learning tables. I know some guys are clearing the adaptive learning tables with forscan or completely turning them off. Do you think this will harm the transmission or possibly void the warranty with Ford?

    • @israelr6636
      @israelr6636 Před 2 měsíci +2

      Exactly. Great question because if the ECU is still locked, how can running E85 be a benefit with tuning for it.

    • @user-bk5ey9ws5g
      @user-bk5ey9ws5g Před 2 měsíci

      @@israelr6636 I run a mix of 2 gals 85 and 14 gals 93. Octane comes out to be around 94 ish and change and about E20 from what I get using online fuel calculators. Car does tend to run cooler slightly with the mix and feels like it has a little better throttle response.

    • @rican_5oh
      @rican_5oh Před 2 měsíci +1

      Don’t do it without a tune. It is constantly running lean and will eventually blow up. You are tunable. Get a tune for e85 so you can run it safely and actually benefit from that fuel. Go thru Lund racing.

      @@airflow_conceptsno you don’t… the alcohol content in the fuel will increase power regardless of the tune, as long as the AFR is correct it WILL make more power… the octane benefit just allows you to make more power if you’re knock limited on timing…
      Same way that nitrometh doubles your power output, E85 will make 2-3% increase in power WITHOUT a tune as long as the AFR is right

  • @Uranswer-yu5kp

    The stock ecu stops adjusting at a E20 it doesn’t have much more capability of that. So you’re not going to get any better performance and you’ll start leaning out after that. Good runs though and get that Etune done.
