Hard to answer. Depends on a few factors. Do you care about macos or windows, do you need one more then the other because of certain apps etc. and do you care about touch and pen input. Macs are great but work best when you are fully in the Mac environment. Windows is more versatile but can be sometimes more of a pain due to things not working properly. I find macs overpriced and apple, in my opinion, stopped innovating as they used to. I also do 3d modeling and vfx and for that you are better off on windows. If video is your main thing, macs will be more then fine. If you need something more versatile I'd go windows. Hope this helps.

I actually just got 12 hours of usage on my laptop and it’s the exact same 13” Hp Spectre with 4K 16gb ram 512gb storage but mines in Ash Silver. I just got it 2 days ago and maybe it’s because people don’t properly charge them correctly from the beginning. I also turned off all notifications for Cortana and every other app and used about 70% screen brightness. Also what helped was turning off all of the background running apps. Hi, I was wondering if it is possible to plug in a regular drawing tablet (not the drawing pens) to this convertible laptop and to the Surface Pro 3 or 4. I’ve looked all over the internet and cannot find out if this is possible, so a response to this question will be greatly appreciated.
Hi there. If I fully understand, you're asking if you can plug in a Surface Pro 3 or 4 and use it as a drawing tablet on the HP Spectre? If that's the question, I'm not 100% sure but considering the Surface is another windows 10 laptop I don't think that will work without using some kind of a remote login app. The Surface wasn't really designed for that. You can definitely plugin in a regular graphics tablet into this HP Spectre and use that with a digital pen to draw on the HP or whatever you want to use the pen for.
I'm planning on getting this laptop but i don't know which color I should get, they both look so good. Which color do you think looks better? The silver one or the black one?
Hi There. The black one is easier on the eye when it comes to seeing the labels on the keys, it's a better contrast then the silver one. I wanted to get the black one but the silver one was the only one available at the time. It's not the end of the world but if you have a choice, I would get the black one.
Hey, Nice video, have you tried the Surface Book 2? Which of them do you think is the best in the "tablet function", like for using the pen to sculpt and draw (sculpt mainly)?
Hi there. I haven't used the Surface Book 2. Sorry. If I was to guess based on my surface pro 4 I would say, when it comes to skulpting, it's probably similar but the surface pen does make a big difference. I've decided to keep using it on my hp. Just more accurate and performs slightly better.
Hi, if you already had a surface pro 4 and do seem to prefer the surface pen over the HP, why didn’t you go with a surface book 2? Even the 13” would have better performance due to the GTX 1050. And, you would have it on an able when drawing. I guess price is one of the reasons but is there anything else? Thanks
Yeah, price is definitely the main point. I do like Microsoft Surface products, although the Surface Book 1 did have a lot of issues when it came out but they did fix all of them, to my knowledge. But yeah, they are getting very expensive, especially in Canada.
Very nice review. I am very interested in this laptop. I will use this laptop for photoshop editing etc. I need to have a possibility to variety of pressure etc. Is it better with Microsoft pen? Or which compatible pen is best?
Thanks :) I would definitely say that the Microsoft pen is slightly better then the HP one. There's less click errors, sometimes the HP one doesn't register at first. Also, with the HP one you can't customize it in the pen settings section of windows.
Currently have the SP4. Thinking of switching to this, due to "flickergate". Overall, is this better than the sp4? Ill b using it mostly for Autocad and sketchup and revit. Also i noticed a dongle attached - does this not have Bluetooth for Bluetooth mouse use? Thanks, and great review!
Hi There. It's great for Illustrator, for sure. I would use the Microsoft pen, less error with it and all in all a better experience. The HP one is fine but the Microsoft one is definitely a better experience.

Hey im planning on getting this laptop for digital art, video editing and music production purposes. Do you think it’s worth it? And if so, do you recommend the i5 or i7?
Hi there. Definitely i7 with 16gb of ram. But I would also suggest to get the 15 inch model with a dedicated gpu. It's much faster. If this is your only device you will need the dedicated gpu for rendering. It's its your second device and you have a solid desktop that can do all the heavy duty rendering then this is one. Or get this and an external gpu.

@@Superhornet331 Try turning the screen resolution down. Keeping the windows display at 4K is kinda hefty. Also, it depends on what canvas scale and brushes you're drawing with so let me know the max till it lags. Also, by going on task manager, look for any 3rd party programs running in the background. Get rid of chrome.
Vega Music hey, thanks for the help! Yeah I managed to fix it a long time ago. Apparently after using a certain command in photoshop it starts lagging like crazy. So as long as I don’t use it im completely fine

Question -- I have the same exact configuration as you, but Dark Ash Silver and 1 TB HDD. For some reason, many third party apps are unusable/laggy with the 4K display (Firefox, Chrome, Spotify). If I turn the resolution down to 1080p, the issues are gone. Have you experienced this? They gave me the 4K/1TB model as a replacement for my 1080p/512GB model, and I find the 4K resolution not only unnecessary, but in this case bothersome.
ProductFRED I have the same issue, it's weird that you don't hear about this stuff from any reviewers. Like, no one. But online a lot of people are having that issue. So far, I don't know of a fix
I returned it and bought a Surfacebook 2 on sale. The Surfacebook 2 uses nearly 4K resolution natively (the 3:2 aspect ratio makes it ever-so-slightly less), but has none of these issues. HP laptops in general run very hot (I noticed this with both x360s that I had), which may have exacerbated the issue. But it seems fairly common if you search the internet about it.
Ok, so I have this exact model and I have to say it’s nowhere near the build quality of MacBook 13 2017. But it has some power to it. Amongst the sea of windows laptops I have tested and worked with, this one is the sleekest. Feel free to ask me any specific question about the laptop.
Hi there. I haven't measured the actual temperature but it definitely gets hot when I'm doing heavy work, like video editing and 3d modeling. Nothing unusual, my Surface Pro 4 was worse. When I'm doing regular work I just keep the power level to the second lowest level and it doesn't even trigger the fan and for browsing, CZcams and those types of things, it's fine. I only bump it up to the Highest level when I need the power. That way the battery lasts longer as well.
hi, i got mine recently and it immediately started heating.. escpecially when im watching movies and tv shows online it gets very hot.. is it normal or should i return it ?
Hi There It does get pretty hot, but that's usually when you do intensive work, like video editing or 3D modeling, that kind of stuff. If you find it's getting pretty hot when using it to do every day stuff, lower the Power Mode to the lowest or second lowest level. I usually do the second lowest level, it doesn't make a difference for every day stuff but it does throttle the CPU so it doesn't overheat. Just click on the battery icon in the lower right corner and select the level. having that said, if it still continues to get really hot, there might be something wrong with it.
Hi. I will use this laptop for photoshop editing. I need to have a possibility to vary pressure etc. Is it better with Microsoft pen? Or which compatible pen is best?
Would you recommend it over the surface? I do a lot of note taking on my surface pro 3 currently. I am thinking to upgrade but am wondering if I should get the spectre x360 or the expensive surface book 2.
@@haardshah1715 if note taking is your main concern the surface products will be better, just because they are tablets and you can hold them more like you would a notebook. The spectre is bulkier when used in tablet mode. It's definitely doable to use it for note taking but the surface will be more suitable for that. If you need a dedicated gpu and a better keyboard experience, get the surface book otherwise the surface pro will be fine.
Hi there. You can use Maya on it for 3D modeling without any problems so I would assume that you should be ok but I can't say for sure as I don't know exactly what applications you use and how much resources they require. You might want to consider the 15" version, it comes with a dedicated GPU, much better performance.
Hi i just want to use pen tool to cut the images and paste it in some background, will i be able to do crop objects in image using pen crop tool with the help of stylus (pen) in photoshop . Which device i must go for, i am not friendly with mouse.
If I'm not mistaken the new Dell xps 15 has the Radeon rx Vega gpu which is much better then this one, so if you are looking for power the Dell is better, for sure.
Michae Thompson Do they make the X360 Spectre with i7-8650u? And if they do it either doesn’t have 4K or it’s a notebook and not the X360 design like in this video. I just got the newest best HP X360 by luckily saving up but I don’t think they had a i7-8650u version. I could be wrong though.
Dulabic Studio even for casual gamers? I just play (mmorpgs) from time to time, but i don't want a 15" its too big for me tbh...i can't decide between hp spectre x360 and hp envy 13 i7 which of those two is better in your opinion? Ps: sorry im not an expert in these kind of things and thank you for your answer :)
Thanks :) I mean it all depends on how CPU intensiv the work is. I use Maya and zbrush and after effects on it and it works. Not the fastest by any means but it works fine so I would assume that you should be OK. But again, it's hard to say for sure.
This review is so much better than other techtubers who are just reading specs off a list. Well done!

Haven't had that problem, no. Did you try reinstalling the audio drivers?
He literally talks about this in the video. It’s a scaling issue with the apps. Change your scaling to 250/300% and it will be fine.
Ok, so I have this exact model and I have to say it’s nowhere near the build quality of MacBook 13 2017. But it has some power to it. Amongst the sea of windows laptops I have tested and worked with, this one is the sleekest. Feel free to ask me any specific question about the laptop.
Mockbaboy which is better in performance, battery, heating? This or mbp 2018?
how is it performing after 2 months?
Question .. does the Microsoft surface pen good for the Hp x360 envy or not ??
It works on the spectre, I've used it myself. I would assume it's the same for the envy but not 100% sure.
I too bought after watching this video. But I am very disappointed cuz of heat. How r cpu temps in ur laptop
4:48 Use edge. Far better at power consumption.
Hope you have a comparison versus MacBook Pro 13 2018
hi, i got mine recently and it immediately started heating.. escpecially when im watching movies and tv shows online it gets very hot.. is it normal or should i return it ?
Hi There
It does get pretty hot, but that's usually when you do intensive work, like video editing or 3D modeling, that kind of stuff.
Is this good for video editing and afyer effect use..
Yes it will work but if you do a lot of it I would recommend the higher model with dedicated GPU or get an external one.
Torn between this and the Huawei matebook x pro
Is it perfect for MAYA??
how is HP in terms of software management?
Hi can u use the Microsoft surface pen’s ERASER on the HP spectre x360?
The button does work, for sure. Also, the eraser works as well.
Hi. I will use this laptop for photoshop editing. I need to have a possibility to vary pressure etc. Is it better with Microsoft pen? Or which compatible pen is best?
Which comics viewer are you using?
Hi there, the app is called Cover, it's in the windows 10 store. Great app, also lets you read PDFs and other files.
Is this thing decent for note-taking?
Sure, it's not as friendly to use as a tablet, like the surface but you can definitely take notes on it
Would you recommend it over the surface? I do a lot of note taking on my surface pro 3 currently. I am thinking to upgrade but am wondering if I should get the spectre x360 or the expensive surface book 2.
@@haardshah1715 if note taking is your main concern the surface products will be better, just because they are tablets and you can hold them more like you would a notebook. The spectre is bulkier when used in tablet mode. It's definitely doable to use it for note taking but the surface will be more suitable for that. If you need a dedicated gpu and a better keyboard experience, get the surface book otherwise the surface pro will be fine.
Is this great for architecture students?
Hi there. You can use Maya on it for 3D modeling without any problems so I would assume that you should be ok but I can't say for sure as I don't know exactly what applications you use and how much resources they require. You might want to consider the 15" version, it comes with a dedicated GPU, much better performance.
Hp spectre x360 vs macbook 13.3 touchbar which is best for photo and video editing ???
somebody please reply me!!💕
Hi i just want to use pen tool to cut the images and paste it in some background,
will i be able to do crop objects in image using pen crop tool with the help of stylus (pen) in photoshop .
Which device i must go for, i am not friendly with mouse.
For sure, the pen is fully functional, you can use it in photoshop and other apps.
This or dell xps 15 ?
If I'm not mistaken the new Dell xps 15 has the Radeon rx Vega gpu which is much better then this one, so if you are looking for power the Dell is better, for sure.
Dulabic Studio thank You so much!
Which one is better mbp 2017 13 or this guy? For video editing and photography purposes
MrAkarock upgrade to 32gb and 1 or 2tb 970pro nvme drive for best video experience, The latest i7-8650U in Spectre rivals MBP i7-7820HQ
TactiCali Industries several skus contain 8550U.
HP Spectre X360 13t-ae000
You said i7-8650u in your first comment that’s why I said I don’t believe they make them with i7-8650u. I already know they make them with i7-8550u.
I bought Asus ROG zephyrus with 24gb ram and it has insanely fast nvme ssd. Works great in games and video editing.
Hey man!
is it possible to plug a eGPU and charging the device?
DEOHVI yes, you can. I'm using mine with a razor core external GPU
which external GPU do you recomend?
Hi There. I haven't personally used any at this point. But I have seen a bunch of reviews and it looks like the Razer Core is very popular.
How does this compare against the 13 inch macbook pro ?
Indervir Dhami macbook can't be used as tablet, no touchscreen, no pen. Slower CPU.
Hi^^ what about gaming?
Not the greatest for gaming. You'll need either the 15" model with the dedicated gpu or an external GPU.
Dulabic Studio even for casual gamers? I just play (mmorpgs) from time to time, but i don't want a 15" its too big for me tbh...i can't decide between hp spectre x360 and hp envy 13 i7 which of those two is better in your opinion? Ps: sorry im not an expert in these kind of things and thank you for your answer :)
it is mate display?
No, it's glossy, definitely reflects in sunlight. Not worse then most others. But yeah something to keep in mind.
u think its ok for programing? cuz im searching for this kind of laptop 2-1 , cuz i ll like draw , but im worried about programing .
and thanks for answer :D , great video
Thanks :) I mean it all depends on how CPU intensiv the work is. I use Maya and zbrush and after effects on it and it works. Not the fastest by any means but it works fine so I would assume that you should be OK. But again, it's hard to say for sure.
Can it work with apple pen?
No, Apple's pen only works with their technology.

Lol solution: get xps 15
