Charlotte Roval: Bring it.
Josef Newgarden: *Challenge accepted, Hold my trophies*
Longtime Indy-Car fan, and I say, bring Indy Cars to the Roval. Make it happen. Do the doubleheader: Indy on Saturday, Cup on Sunday.
Unless Penske and Ganassi got on Jim France's ass about it, they might not do it.
Or Indy at 1pm Saturday and Cup at 6pm Saturday under the lights. I’d buy tickets for that right now.
Just a question, with the new engine, gearbox, chassis, energy recovery, etc in 2022, How would they do Standing start on roval?
@@homeperson11244 holy shite, an IndyCar fan AND a Demon Slayer fan? Your a gem👌🏼

I want Clint Bowyer to be in a broadcast booth after he retires. He would be a very enthusiastic personality.
They don't want personality. I thought Dale Jr would bring in some personality but he turned into one of the old guys fast.
Keegan Schneider totally agree. Clint is just a real dude, through and through
Good call. He is hilarious on the scanner.
He is doing great in Xfinity
How you feeling about the news?
Nascar Fans: we want a different schedule with new tracks
Nascar: we changed the schedule and added the Charlotte Roval
Indy Car: you have got our attention
Everyone: liked that
Hotel: Trivago

Indycar loyalist here, I wish our sport had multiple rovals in the championship. The cars race so well with all of the track width and you can see the car for most of the lap.
This cross promotion works. I'm a diehard IndyCar fan but I'm back watching NASCAR too - road and rovals for now. Keep it going NBCSN and Dale Jr.
but not ovals
@Ethan Weeter just no super Speedways other than the 500, for me at least.
Newgarden was very smooth on the track. Pretty much stayed off the curbs and didn't seem to be pushing it very hard. Good driving.
If we do ever get an IndyCar/Cup doubleheader, I'd love to see some of the IndyCar drivers participate in the NASCAR race, and vice versa.
Also, Clint Bowyer was awesome in this. XD
I agree, but definitely not at the roval. The roval is already so demanding in 1. I couldn't imagine having to drive 2 completely different cars with completely different characteristics.
It has happened before lots of NASCAR drivers have run the Indy 500 and gone to the Coke 600 on the same day
Jeff Gordon...Hold my beer !
Bonkasneeze I’m pretty sure only 4 drivers have ever successfully done the double - John Andretti, Robby Gordon, Tony Stewart, and Kurt Busch
Coming from the future: the Indy/Cup doubleheader actually happened in 2021, but in the Indianapolis road course instead.
2:50 Clint Bowyer: Yes
Classic Clint Bowyer.
Clint may have a broadcast future. I can listen to him. Let’s enjoy him racing first.
It'd be great to hear the old v10 F1 cars on the track
1:07 was the lap time
I can remember back in the 1970's going to see USAC races at Texas WORLD Speedway with both USAC stockers and indycars on the same program. That was always a great weekend.
Love it when american motorsports or any motorsports collide. They should do it more often.
I agree. I’m a big fan but unfortunately Motorsport is dying fast. They need to do this sort of thing quick.
A C go to an actual race, Motorsports are alive and well in America at all levels of competition...
Ideal schedule: Week #1: Saturday Indy Lights, Sunday Xfinity. Week #2: Thursday AM -- Indy Car & Nascar participate in first ever (and probably last) joint hauler parking parade. Afternoon car practice. Friday day -- Indy car and cup car practice & qualifying. Friday night Outlaws at dirt track. Saturday Indy Car. Sunday Nascar.
When Roger Penske took over Indycar he brought a lot of excitement.
iNDY &NASCAR THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN
This is amazing. Would love to see IndyCar on the Roval!
Maybe all the IndyCar drivers hop in the cup cars that weekend and all the NASCAR drivers strap into an IndyCar ? 😳
ChicagoCrew the nascar guys won’t fit in our cars
Aiden Koss
🤣🤣🤣
@John Breedlove Kurt Busch did a pretty good job of keeping up when he tried it.
Why is it always indy or f1 better tha f1. Get over yourself. But ya papyrus was the best lol. I am now an avid iracer and let me tell you spending time on iracing you learn quickly to respect every form of racing. All different and hard in their own right. An indy guy couldnt hold a candle to a local dirt racer either. Boommm
Well Kurt and JJ have an advantage in that
So Friday you have the world of outlaws at the dirt track, Xfinity cars Saturday. IndyCar at 1pm and Cup cars under the lights.
Christopher Enger good luck with that when there aren’t any lights in the infield. I know they can add lights, but for the time being, it’s unrealistic.
@@bakethsnake6498 Yeah generator lights are so hard to get.
Put lights in the infield. World of outlaws on Thursday night at the dirt track, Xfinity on Friday night, Indy on Saturday afternoon, Cup on Saturday night, NHRA on Sunday. $500 weekend pass and watch how quick I'd drive from PA to see it.
@@bakethsnake6498
They said that when they put lifts up at Charlotte...
Asscar would never allow that
Newgarden the 2X CHAMP
I hope this happens, watching Newgarden go around the track gets me excited for a indycar race there.
If Newgarden's time was 13 seconds faster from Byron's pole time, imagine Leclerc's time would've had been....
Probably a sub 60 second lap
@@russianbubbawallace8681 nah man, i think 50 seconds
@blubyuslowly Oh wait....it does
Faster than Vettel's thats for sure lol
Strike Agario Probably at least another 3-4 seconds faster. You look at the unofficial Ferrari F1 lap time at Laguna Seca was about 2 seconds better than the fastest CART lap and about 4 seconds faster than the 2019 indycar.
I think it's pretty safe for IndyCar to run the roval, it's just personally the infield section doesn't have much overtaking hotspots, maybe two at best, but other than that it definitely would make an exciting race should they come here in the future...
Most of the Indy car road courses are not wide.
Would love to see all the NASCAR series run the road course at Indianapolis.
That car looks great racing around there. I approve of the possibility of Indy Car at the Roval.
This wants me to see Indycar have a championship race at the roval. I think it might be cool
This is interesting in retrospect to see them talking about the possibility of a doubleheader weekend. They did indeed have a doubleheader weekend in 2021, but it was in Indycar's backyard infield road course, not NASCAR's.
Clint come on seriously no track where you go from flat out to first gear huh? hell I dont remember what they call it now but Sears Point the last turn before the start/finish line
I'd actually watch Indy cars if they came to the roval
The racing was pretty good this year. (Especially the indy 500)Give it a chance... 😎👍
I've been having a hard time catching any racing this year, usually see highlight videos here
IndyCar doesn't have anywhere near the popularity it used to. But good racing is good racing. You won't be dissapointed. BTW I can't wait to see indycar come to the roval... 😊
This was soothing compared to watching the Chaos of the NASCAR racing there..
INDYCAR should definitely have a race on the Roval
I can’t see a doubleheader unless NASCAR wants to move the Roval to an earlier date which I don’t see happening. It’s even later in the schedule next year.
I Have A Feeling That INDYCAR Will Return To Charlotte Next Year Or Soon.
i find Dale Jr’s comment about IndyCar not running rovals very interesting. Since IndyCar invented using the Speedway and the infield as a racing circuit back when F1 first came back to the states and now IndyCar runs the Brickyard Grand Prix every year. So it’s just like the Safer Barriers, IndyCar creates something new but NASCAR thinks they should get the credit.
Someone needs to blow his mind and link the 2016 Texas Indycar race to him
This would be awesome for the Indy cars at the Roval in Charlotte. Make it happen guys
"...So, Bowyer is here..." "Imma have a seat, guys."
I really wish there is some road course races in Texas Motor Speedway, New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Kentucky Motor Speedway, Atlanta Motor Speedway and Las Vegas Motor Speedway for IndyCars, NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series, IMSA, Formula 1 and MotoGP
Is Indycar going to Charlotte ROVAL 2020?
Bring IndyCar to Charlotte!
Penske should let Josef drive the 12 xfinity car that has different drivers all the time. He did bring Roger two indy championships in a row and Josef has even said he wants to try nascar. Sounds like he earned it if he wants a shot at it.
Josef is the best. Indy cars trump Nascar behemoths. Cool video.
What would make it complete is to get the WeatherTech Sportscar Championship and IMSA to the Roval.
If I was indycar I would look into an dry oval -wet roval concept for any oval other then Indy basically you turn up at the other oval’s initially intending to race on the oval however if it starts raining you instead off stopping and cancelling you instead change to wet tires /turn up the wings/ unlock the rest differantal and must run the roval lap instead off the oval lap … if it happens mid race the remaining laps is halfed automatically as race is either number off roval laps to pass 200 miles or exactly double the laps on the oval for an ideal distance between 250 and 350 miles … only other rule would be you can either have a full oval /full roval race or an oval that becomes an roval race due to mid race rain however it would not change back the other way back to an dry oval unless you had a red flag stop and the full fields of drivers/teams preferred permission
What were the lap times?
They might just fill the stands if they could have a double header ?
Since Penske bought IndyCar, the possibility of an IndyCar-NASCAR ROVAL doubleheader is much greater
NTT IndyCar Series at the Charlotte Roval confirmed.
Excuse my ignorance but is this Charlotte track never had an infield track? Is it new and that's why this hype? Thank you.
It's actually been there for quite some time. It was just rarely used. Mainly for track days.
Marcus Smith (track operator) decided to spice things up with the fall NASCAR event by running it.
After about a year of reconfiguring the track to perfection by adding chicanes and bypassing the triple hairpin, it was brought to life last year as NASCAR's first road course/oval hybrid circuit.
It's a definite must watch event.
The inaugural event was spectacular.
Definitely watch last year's race to get an idea of what I'm talking about.
It's always had an infield track, but they redid it for NASCAR last year (redesigned the infield part and added a bus stop on the back stretch, and added a chicane at the first dogleg). This year they re-profiled the bus stop to be a bit slower, as last year's version was a bit fast and dangerous.
it was built for a American Le Mans Series Race Back in The 2000 Around the First Ever Season Or So
The road course was used as an IMSA events in the past
@@MegaTopdog11 It actually predates that by several decades. The IMSA GTP cars ran it in the 80s(the 1986 race is available here on CZcams), and I think it was built long before that.
This redesigned layout is new, however, and was NASCAR exclusive before this run.
11 seconds faster? Well, that's impressive, because the transmission doesn't pass that impression...
Clint Bowyer always entertaining
It would be nice if the IndyCars returned to the Charlotte Motor Speedway. There were two official IRL races there in 1997 and 1998, both of which were largely successful.
it would cool too see nascars challenge other race car classes to a race
I would like to see both Indycar and nascar raceing at the same time on the same day 1000 laps
Even if they don't do a double weekend maybe indycar might do its own race on the roval
We have trucks and Indy cars at Texas.. it’s a great time
Tough on the transitions? Since NASCAR went to lower bodies it almost looks like they have less ground clearance than an Indy car.
If they do this next year I think that first turn there's going to be a lot of wreckage In IndyCars because Indycar hasn't been there before
IndyCar should have its season finale here in the roval configuration. They used to race at Charlotte in the oval configuration, but abandoned it after spectators were killed during a race.
They are at Richmond next year on the oval.
Yea, I'd be in on a Nascar and Indycar double header.
I like to see indycar race at the Charlotte roval
He gets so much faster on the third lap.
Unique situation for any car to make laps at a roval...
Formula 1 ran at Indy for years....
Honestly I think NASCAR and IndyCar having doubleheaders would be pretty epic!
*.....long as NASCAR can DROP STAGE RACING*
Lap time?
NASCAR and indycar drag race. Winner: Indy car
No shit buddy
That was cool
I’ve seen this video a long while back but I had to comment something this time around. I need this Clint Bowyer to show up in the Fox booth. Obviously there’s been recent controversy as to why he couldn’t broadcast at Sonoma, but that’s not the discussion right now. This video clearly shows what Bowyer can be in a booth. He’s laid back yet has energy and on top of that, his analysis was almost to the level of Jamie McMurray. This was the reason I thought Bowyer could’ve been in the similar to James Hunt in f1. Not the exact same style but their genuine honesty on commentating. If Bowyer had a soundbite even similar to this with his genuine reaction to the IR-18, he would be looking like the best replacement for Darrell Waltrip. Fast forward to now and Fox clearly had a scrip for him and made his commentating an absolute joke and Fox this year, especially the first half, was a joke. I liked their rotation of guest, and xfinity nailed this year’s booth in my opinion. They did also have a raceday similar to how they did pre-race shows (most of Pre-race wasn’t good). But Bowyer hasn’t performed and it’s sad because you can clearly see if Fox lets him function like this, clean up their camera choices, and hell, maybe add Jamie McMurray as a fourth broadcaster, would help more than hurt. NBC isn’t perfect, and neither is there choice to have a 4 man booth, but the energy and engagement is miles better. Mike, Jamie, Larry, and this Clint, would make the first half much more enjoyable and honestly, memorable.
On top of that, yes Indycar and Nascar should do a double header here. It’s clearly a hit in Nascar and Indycar would be a great guest and a great race as well. The roval is still new as a concept, and this would up its value. They did do a IMSA sprint race after the heavy rain race AJ won.
I agree, fox doesn't let him be himself and tells him "be the funny drunk guy everyone loved !!!!!" To the point where he really overdoes it
If NBC had gotten clint I think he would've been a real gem in the booth
hell, run imsa on friday, indycar saturday, and nascar sunday. why not?
Pra Indy, eu acho esse traçado meio travado. Talvez sem a chicane no trioval ficasse .melhor pra Indy.
Bad ass
Clint Boyer is not my favorite driver... Elite, for sure, but outclassed by the upper crust. HOWEVER, he has a huge personality, and is just a riot to listen to. I'd love to see see him calling races when he retires from driving.
Same like Indianapolis and Daytona
Come on down Indy.
I live in Concord and would go to a indy race at charlotte
@6:44, Dale Jr says Indycars don't run Rovals? They run the roval at Indy.
CoolDL Indy is more of a rectangle so idk if it counts
Indy isn’t a roval, it’s called an infield roadcourse
Run the section that Nascar cut out
If they could shoehorn Tony Stewart in an indycar i don't think anyone else should be a problem lol
Do a coin flip a couple hours before the race, to see what series races first.
Ok, now put NASCAR at Long Beach. Or would that tear up the roads too bad?
PLEASE BRING INDY TO THE ROVAL!!!! 😀
Such a shame nothing came of this. Indycar doesnt have any races on the east coast (except st pete) and could use this. Theres a lot of race fans in NC and i think indy wouldve really benefitted from a race here
Her face at 0:06
PROPOSAL = For Indycar, please remove the final chicane. Indycar cars can go full throttle pass the finish line, then brake and slow down before the 1st turn.
Diego Ruiz it’s gonna be like the Daytona 24h roval layout...
I think the final chicane is fine as it is.
@@CoSmicGoesRacing yeah leave the bus stop
I don’t see anyway that the Roval could make a good race for indycar. Obviously we won’t know until/if they ever race there.
imagine indycar is around 11-12 seconds faster you can atleast put 6-8 seconds faster with an F1 car. obiesly every form has his own good stuff and bad stuff but still quiet remarkable
@Rod Rebman runoffs are not the prolem look monaco or singapur. Slow corners are alkso no problem The difference is their not that big as in fast corners , but todays f1 cars have an incredible ability to take slow corners, the big problem is the generell length for an actual f1 race but just for demo drives liuke this from newgarden its enough and shouldnt be a safety problem. f1 reaches 360km/h at monza and its no problem when crashes happen, look last year ericson.
@Rod Rebman Oh, Formula e is much slower, do you know how slow they are, they are not close to Indycar. The only strength of them is the first part of the acceleration. But they have also no downforce like Indycar and their tyres are not even real racetyres. And then their is the factor that the Fe drivers are not better then Indycar drivers. theirs a reason why they are in formula e and not in f1. f1 drivers are for sure better then indycar, I bet my live on that. But Indycar drivers are not bad. and they are for sure better then probably everyone in fe obviesly not every indycar driver but the top 10 for sure. and dont underestimate the heaviness of Fe cars.
and the roval is still a Racetrack. fe tracks are just streets
they have no grip, but at the roval wiht all the running their would be when they would race, it would get grip. In my eyes Formula e cars are not real racecars, and to be hoinest they are just a puplicity contest so motorsporst stands better their in the climatic problewm we have. sry for my english btw.
Make it multi class. Combine Indy with Nascar
Nope. Safety. Stock cars are much heavier and the front bumper is at helmet height for the indy car. Way too much speed disparity also.
I wish they never had chicane on the backstretch.
Forget a doubleheader, have Indy and NASCAR race there at the same time.
DaleJrFan_62 That’s what a doubleheader is!
It would turn into an edurance race with multiple classes.
Indycar>Nascar
Indy at daytona road course
Maybe Indy could do the esses that NASCAR decided on not doing?
Varsity Racing at Charlotte.
Stay tuned the JV nascar race is coming up. 😂😂😂
if Formula one comes here than it would be the pro league
Slowest course on the list if it makes it.
remember when nascar tried to kill indycar in 2002
Most indy car and cup series races have poor crowds these days. I blame that on a young male population with low T values. The ticket prices are too high for the races and Nascar has too many races since they go to most tracks twice a year. I would love to see a triple header at Daytona. Indycars on the road course, Imsa sports cars series doing an 8 hour timed event and then have nascar do a 400.
Nascar should race on the Daytona “roval”
I think Dale Jr talked about that on his podcast and pairing teams (Nascar teams) together with LeMans and do the 24hr at Daytona, 12hr at Sebring, and so on. Probably won't be competitive overall, but it gives free time to teams to readjust and be competitive in an endurance race. Then again 'free time' means time away from family, friends, whatever...
nick wheat no I mean have the entire cup, xfinity and truck series run on the Daytona road course. Never thought of Sebring but that’d be pretty sweat
@@alexbourgeois7863 That would be pretty cool too. It gives everyone experience to turn right rather than left. I mean hell. Karts are a
Split between Oval and road course. Even to the point Daytona has a kart-week.
YOU PREDICTED IT!
Josef Newgarden should make an nascar start someday
If they do a double header then maybe Indy can show nascar why stage racing is so boring 😂
I like stage racing. Keeps them from just running laps until the last 50 then decide to actually race. Now. If theyd drop the cautions at the end of the stage itd be perfect
Colton Sammons that wouldnt make sense though. Because the stages are set up to be mini races inside of the actual race. Why would they continue racing through stages. It just woudnt make sense. I love the stage racing. If you hate the stage racing (not saying you, just talking about anyone in general) then youre just hating for no reason and/or dont understand it. 🤷🏼♂️
I agree, if you need to make your race into three mini races and add a huge playoffs system, your sport is likely lacking excitement and it's just lipstick on a pig
YeetFleet2018 aye. That lipstick made the pig a little more pretty right? 🤣
@@jmoneycoxonce the bacon gets pulled out of the oven no one is gonna remember what the pig looked like
IndyCar at the ROVAL sounds like a good idea. But, it would be better if it was a night race. Who agrees?
Just shows how poor and boring it is to watch the cup cars perform on Road Courses
