The 2nd place guy's desperate attempt to the winner off his tail and out of his draft when the 2nd place guy had the lead...that was incredible, and then that pass on the outside heading into the turn! Amazing!

@@ethanweeter2732 well he hesitated into 3 so I thought he was gonna wait until turn 3 on the last lap. He passed too soon.
Hear what Scotty Mac said in post race interview. Paraphrasing. “Josef bombing Pato in turn 3 on last lap took gigantic “”things””. 😂

What an amazing finish to the greatest spectacle in racing I haven’t seen a finish that good since 2014 when Ryan Hunter Reay defeated Helio Castroneves

For the longest time I didn’t understand how people become silent with shock when watching sports or a movie. Now I do, I wasn’t jumping or screaming, I was just staring at the screen in silence with my mouth agog. What an incredible finish.

That last pass by New garden looked like a nitrous button was pushed , I know that there was nothing like that on board but that was pretty amazing !
he let him go outside, it was almost impossible to block Newgarden that high up, Newgarden took a chance to get up into the marbles and somehow didn't lose the grip of those worn-out tires, amazing driving, again, I really don't think there was anything Pato could have done, his car was held together with dental floss and nerves those final few laps.
That Agony of Defeat I know I hurt for Pato O'Ward too 😥

First time ever going to Indy was this race today. What an incredible experience. Went to the Daytona 500 but this finish was incredible and the whole stadium was on their feet
No other place in the world like Indianapolis Motor Speedway or the Indianapolis 500. There is a reason they have raced there for 108 of those since 1911 and draw 350,00 - 400,000 people there for that race for decades. I have not missed a 500 since 1986, 38 in a row.
That pass on the outside in real time blew me away. I don't know how it stuck but it was awesome

Don't forget Sam Hornish Jr's slingshot pass on Marco Andretti at the finish line in 2006. That is an all-time finish.

I was sitting in Turn 1 sitting in disbelief that O’Ward didn’t wait until 3 to go for the pass on Newgarden. When he went in one I turned over to my neighbor and said there’s a 0% chance that O’Ward keeps this lead.
Props to Joseph, he made moves all day that proved he wanted it the most. Well deserved.
The lead changes like 16 times it was so easy to overtake the leader especially when the track was cleaned. Pato messed up when he passed at the beginning of the final lap. He was not paying attention to the multiple lead changes. Joseph was and that’s why he won.

You’ll have a blast - I went in 2019 when Pagenaud passed Rossi on lap 199. I rarely watch Indy, but the 500 always delivers (at a reasonable price too)
I couldn't have asked for a better ending to my first live Indy 500 🔥🔥🔥 This was crazy af to watch in person, especially seein that last past right in front of me as I was sitting between turn 3 and 4. Newgarden, Pato, Rossi, Dixon, McLaughlin, etc are those dudes 🏁🏁🏁

@@pcdtrickshots3248 Better drivers? That is subjective not objective whatsoever. Of course that is why they run races. That is the beauty of Indy... it is open. You got the money to get a car, fund it to run it, you can enter and compete. If you are fast enough you can make the race.
Wasn't Josef's lap counter broken as well so his team had to call it out? Amazing job. I feel for Pato, he squared off excellently against both Newgarden and Rossi. He'll get his for sure.

Im an F1 fan forever and always but i had to see what the hype was about indycar after seeing a few followers on twitter shout at how good this indy 500 was (i still dont know what indy 500 means) and i have to say i might like indycar a little bit now. Great bit of racing!
Indy 500 is short for 'The Indianapolis 500, The Greatest Biggest Baddest Race in the WORLD.
That weird thing you F1 fans saw all race is called 'passing'.
It's a 500 mile race on a 2.5 mile "oval" with cars going 220-230 mph.
@@minimonkaloyd Monaco today wasn't the best example of a great race lets be honest but F1 has that special something no other motorsport has but i wont argue because i love motorsport and racing and cars too much and i can very happily say indycar seems awesome i thought it was just driving in ovals and turning left all the time but after a quick google i couldn't be more wrong its a great sport unlike nascar however, nascar can sod off.

Wow, that was finish for the ages. Easily as good as the 1982 Indy race finish. What a race. I really feel bad for Pato O'Ward. He was so close to getting his first Indy win. Newgarden was just too good.

Wow… Pato protected all the way down the back stretch. He was 4 cars wide at 220 mph.. he let up the guard when the turn came because usually making an outside turn into T3 is a death sentence. But in the words of Takuma Sato- no attack, no chance… that pass into T3 will be infamous for a very long time and will most likely be used as training aids of what not to do… his wife better watch out tonight his giant balls are loaded
