@@blackrotary5693 thats what i was thinking... back a few years ago somoen told me for fast laps and q turn force feedback off and ya know what? on alot of tracks it helped a ton!

@@blackrotary5693 I doubt he has force feedback turned off, you can see his steering input wobble when he goes over some bumps, this doesn't happen when you turn off the force feedback. It makes sense because he is pretty used to forces from the steering wheel, he can handle driving a real f1 car for a whole day without problems during testing in Barcelona.
MrSkyl1ne you’ll still see minimal input on screen but won’t feel it in the wheel. It’s called “deadman’s wheel”
I run thousands of virtual racing laps in the past and can surely say that this lap is nearly impossible and insane.
If he wasn't so busy with F1 he might become the best iracing driver

"He must have force feedback turned off". LOLOL. Son, he just came fifth in real world F1 at Silverstone and still beat most of the field driving the wreckage of a plane crash. The energy that went through the car and his body was enough to break the seat and the power steering, but he still managed to set respectable lap times with a wheel that didnt want to turn, sitting in a seat that wasnt attached to the car, whilst absorbing the force feedback of a real F1 engine. He could handle that and make it look easy, so I'm sure a 5v USB electric motor shaking a bit isnt holding him back.
If Logitech invent force feedback that dislocates your wrist, or buttkicker put out a model that damages your spine, then maybe.....

I wonder if this is due to him being that good at the game, or if it's more due to his real life skills and knowledge.. probably both.
sim racing has pretty good simulation of racing and car handling. A lot of the new gen racers use them to practice and improve their racing.
It's mostly his real life skills and some time getting used to the lack of gforces, seat of pants feel and figuring what's different from real life.
Dude has been racing one way or another since 4 years old or something, and his dad is a world champ too. I'm going to put it to his real life skills.
Jeez, he goes through the back straight chicane completely flat out...
And NASCAR has to brake and downshift 2 gears (that's a lot in NASCAR cause they only have 4 gears).
In comparison, this lap time is 16-17 seconds faster than the pole lap from the ROVAL race last year, despite NASCAR having 170 hp more than a F3 car.
I know this lap has been made in a racing simulator, but it's very impressive.

You're mostly right on that account, but you also have to take the weight of the car into consideration. An F3 car only weighs about 675 kg, whereas a NASACR Cup car comes in at around 1470 kg. That's more than twice the weight of the F3 car, so while the Cup car has the 170 hp, it has to move considerably more mass than its F3 counterpart.
Less weight + more downforce = absolute stonkers.

@@RoikaLOL true and I also think that Renault was holding back on purpose. Because they wanted to part with red bull. Knowing with the same engine they could never beat them. Lets hope the season is gonna be awesome because nobody wants to see another merc title.

And they finally had the car this year to compete. Next year should be interesting if the FIA and Liberty Media can clean up the mess they’ve let fester. It’s really disappointing as a fan to see this sport come to being determined by questionable calls based on horribly outdated, vague, and frankly misunderstood rules.

I find the car to be set on a very understeer side.
better to get the nose dragged in then hoping the rear wheels push you in. Fastest drivers will use understeer over oversteer
