  • It can't be overstated enough how remarkable it was that NASCAR accomplished the feat of trekking dozens of cars and equipment 7000 miles overseas 3 years in a row after a long 30+ race season just concluded. This is the tale of how it was done, and how it performed. You be the judge on if it should return.

Great video. One correction if I might add, Rusty was NOT the first winner of a NASCAR race held outside North America. That honor goes to Neil Bonnett, winner of the 1988 Goodyear NASCAR 500 held at the Thunderdome in Australia.

That's correct. Thanks for clearing that up!

Jim Richards was actually from New Zealand, and so the 1997 NASCAR Thunder Suzuka Special was the first cup series race with a NZ driver, 26 years before SVG

Everyone was mad when Toyota showed up, not shocked they’ll be mad about this too.

I didn't mind them racing over there, I'm just not a fan of Toyota being in NASCAR.

Meanwhile Toyota is the only manufacture who really gives a shit about NASCAR, you’d be amazed how much they embrace NASCAR. When I worked at a Toyota dealership you could order any cup car you wanted to display at the dealership (as long as it was available) and they’d plop it down right in our show room. Was super cool

I mean, they could race at Fuji Speedway since Toyota owns that track...It could work.

The other thing that pissed off Dale Sr was Jr sliding up into him on the pass. Sr even gave him a bumper in the corner. Jr talked about it in his podcast. What a crazy experience competing with your Dad.

    Amazing video!
But man Earnhardts behavior often was so ridiculously stupid and the great Mark Martin had to suffer from his disgraceful behavior.
Mark was just to nice to seek revenge and put Sr. In his place.

Wouldn’t doubt that in the next few years. Especially with the rumors of the cup series going to Montreal that fell through.

They looked into going to Montreal for next year but never got a deal made. Adam Stern also mentioned yesterday they're looking into going to Brazil in the future. Very possible we could see a race in one of those 2 countries or maybe even Mexico or Australia since the Aussies do have an oval there in Calder Park. I'd look into that track, it has a fascinating history

@@CatGoomba64We actually had a NASCAR championship in Australia starting in the late 80's and throughout the 90's.

NASCAR needs to worry about fans here who don’t follow the sport anymore in this country. Like me.
