got really curious to see how the game works(are there even other games that pull off same fake camera stuff?)
...how conveniently there's another camera screen in the submarine right in front of you that's just hidden
Also most of the things aren't supposed to render outside of the default 50 units distance so thats why you'll see a whole bunch of things pop-up.
There is no real fish during the scripted sensor encounters, there's an invisible "FakeDetector" just for that.

Your mom must be very proud of you.
Honestly the setting Dave set up here is very interesting. Im sure he put it in as kind of a throwaway to give purpose to what your doing, but it honest to god really fascinates me. Every star and planet in the known universe up and vanishes, and what's left of humanity is scrambling in a such a blind panic to find any remaining resources, that they decide to explore an actual ocean of blood. Not to mention what was down there. At least the structures i mean. The skeletons and giant fish are self explanatory. What were those structures at the bottom of that ocean of blood. Clearly man made of some kind. I think he should pursue this setting even more. I mean he doesn't' state how long its been from the Quiet Rapture happening, to when Iron Lung takes place.
Indeed! Out of all the objectives that we have to photograph in the game, I find the ancient structures to be the most interesting. My hypothesis is that the moon didn’t originally have a blood ocean & those structures weren’t always underwater. It’s most likely that there was once an alien civilization or base on this moon, but was wiped out by whatever caused the blood ocean. Also, the warp at x180, y576 is also a mystery as well, as the sound it’s emanating is of unknown origin & what it’s purpose is for. Maybe where that fish monster is from?
@@junglerajah7838 Maybe its the blood of living things from all over the universe, all being displaced one or more moons. Like some kind of ritual or alter from a cosmic entity for the end times.
@@junglerajah7838 I know that we're probably never going to get the full story to this cause we're pretty much welded in the sub and only taking pictures. I do hope we get more to this game though cause I'm getting those HP Lovecraft vibes that most of the time are next to impossible to pull off.(The Temple short story specifically where a German sub finds a temple underwater comes to mind.)
You'll be happy to know The Quiet Rapture is not a throwaway setting. David alluded on Twitter that he fleshed it out more on paper, and this game was mostly a test to gauge people's interest in it. He says he wants to make another game in the setting.

I was watching a playthrough of this game from another CZcamsr and someone stated their theory in the lore for the game in the comments, they said that maybe the reason that all the life was vanishing was because of some kind of weird portal or teleportation thing, because that bright light that causes the screen to distort and shake apparently teleports you across the map, so its like a "portal" of some kind. Meaning that the stars and systems were being teleported, and all the creatures, dangerous and large to small and harmless, were being teleported to these "blood oceans", hence the reason for all the blood. I thought it was a very interesting theory, especially considering all the structures such as the bricks and man-made buildings, they could've been teleported here when their systems "vanished"
i also found a comment on jacksepticeyes video of someone saying that they think that the structures scattered across the trench seem to vaguely resemble the eldritch city of Raleigh based how Lovecraft described it, so i thought that was neat
@@shrimpybraincell8805 Yes, that's interesting!! (Also not meaning to be rude but it's spelled " R'lyeh " :) )
That was what I was thinking too the moment I saw that portal. It's the weirdest element of the game and more unsettling than the fish in its inexplicable nature. Does it appear with purpose, or is the universe just tearing itself apart?

Even like this its still very scary 50:10
That's so scary
The premise of this game is very fascinating to me. I would love to have another game that fleshes out the story more. Problem is, that probably won't happen. It doesn't sound like too much thought was put behind the setting and story. Just a basic setup for a short horror game. No deep lore or intention to make a full story.
Also, this game is 100% proof that graphics matter the least when it comes to making a good game. People are HYPED for it, yet the graphics are worse than you'd even expect from the late PS1/N64 era. Instead the game is absolutely OOZING with atmosphere and has simple, but very compelling gameplay. This game should be used as a modern day example of prioritizing aestethics, immersion, atmosphere, and gameplay over just graphics. (like what most AAA titles are doing these days.)
I think this was a test for the story concept, so hopefully we'll get more of the Quiet Rapture. Another commenter mentioned the creator saying they had more of the concept fleshed out on paper too.

50:20 even with no words I felt this persons panic LMAO
Im honestly hoping theres some kind of continuation or sequel to this game. Theres clearly a mystery and a story to be solved and told here
My guess is that the quiet rapture is not as it seems. Perhaps we're the ones that vanished while the rest of humanity remains intact. I'd like to think humans dabbled with something they shouldn't have, and opened some rift a la Half-life on a moon base. In order to protect the rest of humanity, somebody uses the newfound teleportation technology to cut a giant zone around the phenomena, sacrificing everyone caught in it, along with the terrors they've brought through. This preserves humanity but unfortunately dooms an entire moon and a bunch of space stations caught in it.
The story and lore wasn't anything more than what the game needed it for: a few lines of context. Many small indie games like this one do the same thing, and in most cases I'd advise the developers not to expand on their lore, especially in mysterious horror games like this one.
Instead, hope that the dev will continue coming up with interesting worlds for us to explore if you're into Iron Lung's experience.

This is just straight up cool. I always loved watching the behind the scenes or the exterior of the game (especially these types of games) that weren't really meant for the player to see. The fact that the developers made this whole map, detailed even. Even though the initial intention of this was to take pictures of the coordinates that were given. The fact that it has a detailed outside is so cool.
With the whole thing about Iron Lung, I was already expecting someone to do this, this is dope.
We've all been shatting ourselves at the end
Iron Lung is scary enough on its own, but with the added feature of whatever you photograph outside the submarine being able to _see_ you is a whole other category of fear.
This is a neat "behind the scenes" look at the game. I appreciate that the dev created a whole landscape that you (or your camera, anyway) are actually moving around in. Very neat. It reminds me of the Thief series of games, where the devs built levels based on environment rather than rails -- they designed a credible house/manor layout, populated it with residents/servants/guards just doing their routines, and left it up to the player (thief) to figure out a way in, whether via the front door, back door, sewer, stealing a key off a guard, etc.
It really shows just how much this game was made with you not being able to see out the front in mind. The way the layout is set even if you can see out the front, you still have to stop and look because you're focused on the controls. Fascinating stuff, and again it really shows just how genius the camera is because you're actually taking a real picture.

The entire experience is scripted, with trigger points on the map and all (Including the pipe steam, the fire, the oxygen count and the blood leak). This feels so weird but cool at the same time
Ok this is amazing
I don't know what it is, be it the writing, the setting, or just the culmination of everything, but this game comes off so real.
The ocean of blood isn't edgy nonsense, it's truly horrible. The structures under water and the strange hallway part of the way through are mysterious. The anomaly is otherworldly, not cliche.
The jumpscares are earned, not forced. I only wish the end was different, but that's my personal preference.
This game is fresh and genuine. Rekindles my love for story telling.
They NEED to turn this into a full fledged game
surprising how this game has an actual map being rendered outside the submarine...
The submarine is actually placed outside of the map and never moves, instead there's just a camera moving around the actual level that is being projected onto the submarine's front
@@TheStormsChannel well that makes more sense.
Why wouldn't it? It's very obvious from the first 5 minutes of playing the game that it would have one.
