  • If you play Football Manager for long enough, you run into a player you desperately need to get rid of, but you can’t. No matter how hard you try to sell this player there is never a team that seems to want to buy them, or if you try to loan a player there is never a team that wants the generous donation you are trying to provide. DO THEY NOT KNOW A WONDERKID WHEN THEY SEE ONE? HOW DARE THEY!
Player interest in transfers has become more important than ever in FM this year, so any quick tip to help you unload players will be welcome. The good news is we have found this tip and are able to pass it along to the Football Manager community as well as some other helpful tips to get these pesky players off your payroll.
    Much Love,

My trick there is when they are 18 if they are on the fringes I offer to clubs to loan you can even target countries etc to send them too. Always make sure the loan includes minimum regular starter and regions that you have leagues loaded or least view only.
You will usually get lots of offers and pick and choose the best offer. Loaning them like this for a season or two usually leads to good development , on the nxtgen list or just lots of interest. If they still aren't good enough for you by 19-21 that's usually a good time to sell for highest values

I always have the issue that players "over perform" on my team. Like I can have the top scorer in the league and top assists while both of them are what I feel like mid table players (this is for PEC Zwolle in the Dutch First Division).
This leads to them wanting higher wages than their stats warrant.
So then I try to sell them but because their value is so inflated because of their performances no one is willing to make an offer and if they do it's millions below their value, usually from a 2nd Division league in like Italy.
And if I accept I make my board angry...
Strangely enough not even one of them getting top scorer gets me good bids in, I thought surely other teams would scout on that and at least be tempted to make an offer? Or minimally show "interest" in the squad screen.

I have gotten promoted to the premier league quite a few times with over performing top league two/league one/bottom championship level players. Then when you get to the premier league its a pain to upgrade your squad, because premier league level players dont want to join, because “quality of playing squad is to low” the quality players you then do get, typically wants 3 times their normal wage, causing other issues. The worst part though, it that striker you had as topscorer in league north, national and league two, who is now 22 have played 90 games and scored 85 goals, but you release him cause he is not league one quality, then one year later he retires cause he cant get a new job…. This year, at least in the main leagues, (but even in the MLS and Serie B that I've played in this year as all) I've not really struggled to sell many players, I'm almost always able to either sell or at least loan them out, and for an example, I got Greg Taylor, the left back for Celtic for free at the end of last season, but by the beginning of the next season, I had already signed a new, young left back with better stats than him as he was only a good championship backup, so I listed him up for transfer and... €15.5 million by some Greek team. And I did the same thing in the same season for Sibley for €8 million, two players that should've realistically been impossible to sell that I've been able to sell with just one offer to clubs, but overall it just hasn't been at all painful for me in letting go players for some reason, I don't believe I have any realism mods installed as I started my save without even a facepack 5 months ago

THEN: lower the value by one click.
If there is no response, your asking price is good.
If the agent/player starts complaining again, lower the asking price again until they accept it. This new lower asking price will work without upsetting the player.

One of the things I love about Football Manager is that even in June/July we are still discovering things that change the way we play. New tactics are one thing, but this is a part of the game SI have chosen to include and make more effective, that most were not really using that much, and then they don't tell us about it, so we can work together as a community to discover these things. Zealand and his stream discovered this one, and I'm so grateful, because this has helped so much on my save!
My board lowered my wage budget mid-season for no reason, and it took me well under my current spend, so I had to reduce my wages by £1.1m per week. (I'm Portsmouth who I have taken to the Premier League.) I was struggling so hard to sell players as I didn't know this trick, and the board ended up getting very angry. This should now solve my problem and allow me to move on players, without 'Selling team wage contributions' and other issues! - Cheers Zealand, and his community!

Coming from being a fan of the NFL, it is so weird to have members of your team who know they are not wanted, and who know they won't play at all, be able to just refuse to sit around on your roster instead of going somewhere they can play and keep their career alive.
Is it like that in real life. Where they are willing to let all their skills erode and just sit around collecting a check and refusing offers to play for other teams?
I guess the NBA is kind of like that at times, where players have to be bought out to get them off your roster. But that is mostly because of salary cap rules etc.

I used this in my malaga save ive started and after the first season it helped us to free up alot of funds on our wage budget to then bring in more players who one would improve the teams quality and two making the core of players more younger. The same about applies to Bruno (so Brunu), Bernardo, Tiago, Cristiano, Moutinho, etc. It also sometimes applies to 'o's in the middle of names, such as Novais, which should be pronounced as Nuvaish

I dont know if this has ever been a problem for me in 22 but it has in the past.
The one thing im struggling with rn is realism. Its not realistic that i have a striker on my team who ive just signed up to a new contract( 3 years ) hes young and banging in the goals left right and center he also has high potential Im with Dorking and have just been promoted to the VNL have the same 1 and a half star rated team that my competitors have yet their strikers in the same mould have a transfer value in the 100s of thousands while mine is literally 10k.
Like it literally doesnt make sense. Bolton and Fleetwood( teams in the championship )wont stop sending in offers for his value which makes me decline them and sees him getting arsey and wanting to leave.
On top of that since the club got promoted the " boss " decided to build a new stadium( because of league regulations stating clubs need 4000 capacity stadiums or above ) despite the fact the game moved us to a stadium with a higher capacity in the meantime, when our budget just couldnt take it.
Now im keeping a tighter reign on costs and havent used the transfer budget, im also using just over half of the alotted wage budget and still find myself in the fuckin mire.
Its annoying because im developing these players over two seasons or more and for whatever reason im not getting good value and being able to offset the cost of the season with player sales.
The game has got so many fuckin issues its ridiculous. Like through no fault of my own my shit is failing. Got a gaffer who thinks its a bright idea to build a 3.2 million stadium that if we move upto to league two would have to be torn down and start again while sticking us in a stadium that has a 80k a year rent when the club itself isnt generating 80k surplus to placate that, nevermind the cost of the new fuckin stadium.

Yeah pretty much until you hit like the Championship you should just live off loan ins, and like 1 year deals as much as you can. Then when the 1 year deals expire don't resign or release them and they may just stay on at the same rate in a month to month capacity which in effect gets you to keep them at the league below's salary that you signed them for while you're in one level up.
Sadly reputation will always keep the player values low, and due to poor facilities/level of play/level of coaching while those players may be developing to you and your teams you weren't ever really going to develop them by holding onto them anyways.
In good news this mechanic of losing money while rising up the levels to some degree can help by either having the board just cover the cost or conversely decide to sell their asset and now the new owners they sold too may cover the costs or inject cash that way.
The reputation just changes extremely slowly though so maybe if you kept that young striker in the VNL for like 4 years his value would raise that way but... it just doesn't matter compared to just 1 year guys and having a loan army team and getting promoted instead for your franchise.

This has happened to me with multiple sold players, I think it is to do with putting a high per league appearance fee in the sale. Iirc his was 400k per game for 20 games.
So if you want to waste your rivals money sell them a player they want and add a massive per league app fee, they will likely leave him to rot in the reserves.

I'm on a new save with UD Logroñés and they dont have the finantial room to move, and they have a very old team whose CA is top tier for their division. And so they want to leave. I signed Szoboszlai for Dortmund and he wanted me to improve my defence. I didn’t and now he’s on leave ‘figuring out his next move’. It’s so annoying when my Dortmund defence is solid and doesn’t really need improving. It’s not amazing but performance-wise, it’s best in the league. One thing that annoys me in FM22 which I've only just discovered, is that when you get yourself a Feeder Club or Couple of Feeder Clubs, with the prospect of sending players to them to get game time and match experience, very useful for your reserves and U23s that aren't ready for the first team yet, that when you click on ont he player and select move to affiliate, 99% of the time the player doesn't move because the player rejects the transfer. In what world does this happen? If Manchester City turn round to some 20 year old in the reserves and tell him he's going to a Championship Club or Scottish Premiership Team or Belgian Premier Team for a year to get match experience and develop, he would not have any say in the matter, he would just pack his bags and move. So frustrating that I'm paying yearly fees to clubs I was hoping to loan my young players to and they are a complete waste because 20 year old punks who've never played a competive match have power to veto you as the Manager of the club and say they are not going on loan.
What makes this more broken is in the opposite situation, if you are the Championship Club or Similar with a Premiership or other Top Team as a Senior Affiliate or Parent Club, you can go to them and loan whoever you want from them. I'm sure a League 2 Team in real life could go to Manchester City and just take De Bruyne on Loan because they are an affiliate and City would have no issue with that.

      @daviebananas1735 Před rokem

The last paragraph only detracts from your good pint initially. Man City almost never allow ANY players to go to L2, if they do it will be players NOWHERE NEAR the first team. @@daviebananas1735 except it does in football manager. The smaller clubs can raid their Senior Affiliates for players. This is why the content creators like Zealand always press and bang on about making sure you get Senior Affiliates if you are a small club, because you can loan in all their good talent. I agree with you 100% that it should not be possible for smaller teams to take Senior Clubs Senior Players and more so that Senior Players would not move to such teams.
It just seems to me like Sports Interactive have got the whole Affiliate Club thing back to front. I'd expect Senior Clubs to be able to send whoever they wall to the smaller club and the move happens as simple as moving a player between your own squads. I would not expect the Little Club to be able to loan 1st Team Players, unless they were listed for loan by the Senior Club, so no chance De Bruyne or Haaland would get loaned by someone managing a team in the Vanarama.

@@Cwattyeso I use senior affiliates in EVERY save, until I get to the top level. I’ve never been able to get a first team player from a senior affiliate, unless I’m one league below and he’s a fringe player. I’ve never seen any small junior AI affiliate do what you are saying. It doesn’t happen. Even if the clubs accepted the offer (which they don’t) the players often reject the move, even when they are youth players etc. This is not a thing in the game, or else I would have exploited it every time. I often struggle to get an 18yo youth team player to come to L2 from a senior affiliate in the championship. I’ve also never seen or heard anyone do this, or even mention it as a bug. Teams in the top league almost always respond “would prefer him to play with better players” to ANY player you try and loan. The idea you can get Haaland on loan in L2 is completely false.

    • @Cwattyeso
      @Cwattyeso Před rokem

@@daviebananas1735 the point I was trying to make is that it seems in Football Manager if you are playing as the smaller club with a senior affiliate it's easier to loan players, then if you are the Senior Club and are trying to offload your players to your smaller affiliates. I honestly don't pay much attention to the A.I. in game so don't know how those teams go about exchanging and switching players. I only comment on what I see as the player. I also can only comment on what I have experienced in the past and definitely found the Feeder Club System to be much more player friendly in earlier versions of FM, where you as the player could send anyone under contract to an affiliate and they would move. It feels so bad for me in FM22 that I playing as Manchester United can't send any of my players to Derby County, Dundee United or Club Brugge who are my Affiliates to get match experience, because the player always refuses the move. Yet at the same time if a smaller club from a lower competition make a loan offer for the player, my DoF or HoYD will often accept the bid and the weirdly the player will go and play for these teams and then usually complain all season they aren't starting enough matches or are being played in the wrong position etc.
I feel like abandoning the whole Afffiliate Club system entirely and cancelling my links with teams to save on the yearly fees and just using the in-game editor to move the players I want to develop on loan to other clubs at the start of the season and lock in their playing time and positions.

The players who go to smaller teams will be lesser players and the clubs rep will be closer to where they want to go. I’ve never had an issue either way that didn’t seem at least slightly rational. I’ve never seen any top player going on loan to a small team in a lower division. As I said, this does not happen. Ever.
