  • The hardest part about Football Manager is getting into it. There is nothing that exemplifies this more than your first day at a new club. There are so many things to do in FM that all need to begin on the first day. It has overwhelmed me multiple times and I just quit the game. So, here is a step-by-step guide to get you through FM’s opening saga and have a club that is ready to bag those wonderkids.
    This is basically a tutorial to help you simplify your thinking and refine your focus on what actually needs to be done to start an FM save properly. I often spend a significant amount of time perusing the team and that is obviously ok to do, but the goal here is to set the wheels of success in motion. Remarkably, I just came up with that and it sounded amazing. WE ARE SETTING YOUR FOOTBALL MANAGER WHEELS OF SUCCESS IN MOTION. Alright, cool, FM, yay, video, see you soon.
    Much Love,
    FM Senpai

    The one thing I'd add is that after you've assigned whoever to take care of friendlies and arranged the games themselves, go to the Squad page, select Quick Pick -> Edit Pick Guidelines and set "Condition is at least Good" and "Match Sharpness is AT MOST Match Fit", then Set Guidellines Without Picking, and you should have your entire squad ready for the start of the season. I also find arranging reserve friendlies on Sundays (if mainly playing Saturdays) helps and manually making available those in need of a boost for the next U23 game only.

    Hey Z, here s a tip I m pretty sure you know, but I ve noticed you tend to forget about. When you manage a big euro club like let s say Lille for example, day 1 BEFORE u go staff searching, don't forget to go to the player search page and change the recruitment package to something that suits that team, like world tier. This includes the non playing people, so u re basically missing out on like 20-30% staff I think, given your average 220k database choice.

    1. Sorting team. Find coaching staff member with highest judging ability, then squad screen and all positions. Determine formation and first 22/24 and holes, talents, and who to sell and sort to A team, u23/B, u19 respectively.
    2. Tactics. Individual instructions, position then player. Adjust set pieces once transfers done. Captaincy.
    3. Arrange better Friendlies.
    4. Training schedule, groups, none- half-half-normal-double, mentoring (once transfers done). Individual Training (preferred moves once staff in).
    5. Board requests.
    6. Set monthly reminder. Board Requests, Transfer Listed, End Contract, Director of Football, Buy/Sell Clauses, Shortlist update, Team Training, Individual Training, Happiness and Mentoring.
    7. Staff shortlist and then sign new staff.
    8. Sell, Loans, Buy, Extend contracts.

  • @chrisfmjesusmountsteven6146

    Yeah if you need scouts or coaches better to look on first day or else you miss free agents and then are wasting money. Just think the compensation could go on wages instead or a loan.

    This year's game is pretty buggy. From my team captain being upset that he isn't the captain anymore, even though I never took his armband away, to the player's form box freezing on the screen after hovering over it and not being able to get rid of it unless I exit the save.
    I don't know how FM21 was, I haven't played it, but 22 doesn't seem to be well polished

    I'm playing my customary Feyenoord save again and my god they're awful this time out. They sold Berghuis to Ajax for almost nothing. All their strikers are gone. At least they still have Senesi and Toornstra.
    Also no money at all. They've never been rich, but damn. They're only in the Conference League in Europe so they don't get big paydays. I have literally no money. I can't even sign free transfers because there's always a tiny charge at the end (like 10-15k) and I can't even pay that.
    Literally my only hope is selling Senesi and Bijow for good money and hoping my academy delivers. And trying to sneak into the Champions League, of course. No hope of winning the league though, because Ajax just don't lose.

    • @55TheOracle55
      @55TheOracle55 Před 2 lety +3

      You don't need to rely on your academy, you need to focus on scouting for players with good potential who are free from contract, that way costs less money as you don't have to pay for a transfer fee. You should also consider loaning good talents from bigger teams.

    If you want to do big money friendlies every other day, but you don't want your players injured, trialists can come in really handy.
    Sticks and stones may break my players' bones, but if I'm never gonna sign them, it won't hurt me.

      Just play and make mistakes that’s the only way how to learn the game properly. Don’t be afraid of failure and in doubt consult the assisting manager

    • @ArianJafariTheMagnificent
      @ArianJafariTheMagnificent Před 2 lety

      3 months too late, but just start off by handing over every single responsibility to your assistant manager. Then, pick ONE thing (substitutions, scout, negotiations, tactics, team talks, press conferences - whatever, just one thing) and focus on handling only that thing. Once you start getting used to it, go to the responsibilities screen again and take control of ONE additional area. Get comfortable with that one, and then add another one etc. Eventually you'll have a good grasp of every area you're interested in.

  • @Hyde_Hill

    You should ALWAYS manage friendly matches, your not an idiot and WANT to do that ;). You get much better match sharpness, morale and tactical familiarity that way. Also the ability and potential in the squad screen does not adjust to who you say gives squad reports it's always the AM. So you want to use the squad overview screen.

    • @miraclemaker1418
      @miraclemaker1418 Před 2 lety

    • @Hyde_Hill
      @Hyde_Hill Před 2 lety +1

      @@miraclemaker1418 Because the AI is not that great in prioritizing which players play and in what roles and positions and using your planned main tactic. When you have control you can make sure the players you want get game time and in the roles and positions you want. Increasing familiarity, sharpness and quicker links between players.
