- Lionel Messi has had a legendary career, surely if we started it over today he wouldn’t be able to do it again? I’ve used a custom database on Football Manager to put 16-year-old Lionel Messi on Barcelona starting in… 2024. He would go on to play for more than 20 years all over the world, but wait, I’ve said to much, it’s video watching time.

The problem is that Messi should have more than the max potential in game. The game itself had to rebalance the attributes because of Messi back in the day, downgrading every other player because Messi changed what a 20 meant.

Those attributes for Messi at the beginning are FARRR too low. Balance of 1? 1!? Shouldn't have started with those attributes. All kinds of wrong.
I get he had good balance but messi didn't score for 7 months so realistic that majority of his stats are low, I do agree that balance should of been higher tho
@@Logan10216 Those attributes are never going to get to what Messi's were in real life or indeed, later FM's. Finishing, dribbling, balance would all be 19/20.
His first FM season stats are shit to begin with as they didn't even properly scout him, had him as right footed etc. should of started with his second season

Maybe this is stating the obvious, but this video is more like a simulation of Messi's career had he been an actual HUMAN. Also keeping in mind that (iirc) SI has said in the past that he and CR7 cannot actually be recreated in the match engine without it outright breaking.

It's kind of crazy how I've seen quite a few similar concepts, and in almost all of them, Messi does relatively poorly compared to how he did in real life.
Also a 16 years old Messi being on sale for 90k is hilarious. Can't help but imagine the faces of everyone who passed on the 90k USD Messi when he's worth a thousand times that in just a couple years, and ten thousand times that at the peak of his career (given how transfer inflation is going, I suspect that's not even gonna be record breaking in 2034 because of petro-dollar sponsors)

This is not realistic because the 25 and 24 year old messi scored 59 goals in 38 games in the league, but the messi in the video between age 21 to age 25 scored 57 in the league which is why it's not realistic
