Here's what some icons have to say about the book!!!
Ice-T: "Respect to Soren Baker for documenting the history of gangster rap in these pages. Some hate it. Some love it. But you can’t deny its brutal, hardcore honesty."
The D.O.C.: "History has so often been written by the victors, that you very rarely ever get the real story behind anything. So it’s really important to hear from the people that were there, which is exactly what Soren Baker shares in this book. He writes about it and he’s honest about it."
Xzibit: "Hip-hop changed the world. Gangster rap changed the narrative, and then changed the world again. Soren Baker has been a very integral part of documenting hip-hop on the West Coast for as long as I can remember. I don’t think anybody is more qualified to write this book."
Leslie “Big Lez” Segar: "Soren Baker has changed the perspective of gangster rap by putting his pen to paper. He has given hip-hop power, proven its potential, and made non-believers contemplate all of its possibilities. The truth in his writing leaves no stone unturned, something he's done again with The History of Gangster Rap. Soren doesn’t just champion hip-hop. He also reveals its flaws and its truths."

Chill Rob G is OFFICIAL and his album "Ride the Rhythm" is a CLASSIC... I play it to this day. As a Pittsburgh cat, back in `89, many of us knew immediately that Turbo B, who happens to be from Pittsburgh, & SNAP! jacked Chill Rob G's joint, which has always irritated me and still does. It's criminal that he doesn't receive royalties for it. Real heads knew and stll know the truth, though. Real talk.
YUPPP Ride da rhythm is a classic album dat gets slept on
I remember when Snap came out with that and I had the Chill Rob Gee version here in the U.K in the late 80s on vinyl , can't tell you how confused I was about that at the time!
Whenever I talk about my favorite emcees, I can't not mention Chill Rob G. One of the best voices in Hip-Hop, with some of the dopest flows and lyrics. Ya hafta respect Jersey. 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
His voice is commanding.✌🏾
Imo it's
Not even about anywhere
This Cat Mastered
The 🎤
He would have been good even of he was from outta space
"Dull, void, without substance or content - these are the words of the rising son, surprising some who thought I was just another humdrum." MAN. Chill Rob G's pen was/is FIRE, and his voice and flow were amazing.
He was and is very unique
He was here to ROCK THE SHOW ....
CLOCK THE DOUGH.... and let the WORDS FLOW
A dope MC with a dope voice. Thanks Soren!
One of my all time favorites. Still play Ride The Rhythm. Salute Soren and Chill Rob G
Court Is In Session 🔥🔥🔥
We listened to Chill Rob G album like crazy in Trenton NJ. We loved Ride the Rhythm!! I recall Wise Intelligent always walking by my house quoting lines from him. This factual.
Chill Rob and Chuck D. two of the most profound distinct voices in Hip Hop.
Comptons Most Wanted showed love to the brother Chill Rob G back in the day in their samples. Solid brother
Get your ass in the car; you’re comin wit us!

This is a tip tier mc.He was so down to earth that we used to talk online.I believe he had a album BLACK GOLD.
Salute to one of the originators. This dude was revolutionary, refusing to buy into the gangsta phenomenon. I've always respect him.
When the Great Chuck D tells you to do an album, you do an album.💪🏾
FACTS
Definitely one of my favorite emcees. So back in 06' I moved to McKeesport a small town considered a section of Pittsburgh. Almost a year later I decided to move because the house I was in wasn't a good fit it turned out, so as I'm packing my shit I go down in the basement to see if there's anything I wanna take and that's when I discovered this box of miscellaneous stuff that I obviously hadn't noticed before. Looking through it I find all this old stuff from old concerts (programs, posters, pictures, etc), and other music related things as well as someone's family photos and things. Just when I was about to toss the whole box I find this SNAP concert program and some other SNAP memorabilia...I was bugging out like "oh shit I remember this joint"! not really thinking much else of it, that's when it dawned on me that some of the shit in this box was actually pictures of SNAP as a child! Apparently what I discovered later was that SNAP's Mom's lived in that crib before I did. By then 06' everybody knew about the Chill Rob G situation and me personally I felt like the SNAP lyrics was no where near as dope as Rob G's version...To this day I wish I would've kept that box tho...On another note, it was Duff Marlowe that discovered Gang Starr let's be clear....Peace to Chill Rob G! Much success on anything you put out Brotha🙏🏿💪🏿✊🏿
Chill Rob G!!! Let The Words Flow Legendary Status
For years I never understood how they were two versions of that song. It’s good to know that chill Rob G doesn’t understand either
Always loved The Flavour Unit. Chill Rob G & Lakim Shabazz have always & WILL always be in my Top Ten. Ride The Rhythm, Black Gold, Running & now Empires Crumble have been played to death (DEF lol). Thanks Soren, you're the man

It's a shame, Leo Martin. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
I didn’t know he had a project out. Thanks for interview. One group I’m curious to know what happened to them is Frick N Frack.
Frick & Frack we're dope! They should have been bigger.
Who The Fvck Was Frick n Frack??
I NEVER Heard Of Them......
Female rap group that came out in the mid 80’s. That Raising Kanan theme song was inspired by Frick N Frack’s Southside song. The original Just Rhymin Wit Biz song had Frick N Frack on it rhyming (the demo is on CZcams where you can here them at the end getting ready to rhyme).
@@quranali3093 czcams.com/video/KF2M7KZO3NY/video.html Biz mentions their name in the beginning of the song and after 3:43 they begin to rhyme.
@@Wilizm Oh Ok Thanx•I'll go check it out......
Soren you have all the golden age Emcees on here. Salute
This my dude right here!✊🏾🙌🏾
Mannnnnn. The Living Legend Chill Rob G In The Building. His Rhyme Flow Truly Off The Chain. Been Down With Him Since Day 1. He Did The Song "The Power " Before Snap Did It. This Was Crazy And Wrong How They Took Chill Rob G 's Song For Themselves And Blew Up Like That. Chill Rob G Owned That Song And The Power Was A Spinoff For The Song "Let The Words Flow" From His First Album "Ride The Rhythm". Hope To Hear More From This Hip Hop Living Legend. 🙏🏿🫡👊🏿🔥💯
This interview is the one👊🏼
Lyrics and beats very distinctive! Soren on point again w the material👍🏾

Yoooooo one of my favorite MCEES!!! Out of my way you see me coming. Drop from the sky and I hit the ground running!
"Ride the Rhythm" is a top 5 album for me.
Easily!
The moment I heard “I Got the Power” as a kid. I knew that wasn’t that goof in the video spitting Rob G’s verse.
Courts In Session/Let The Words flow blew my mind when I first heard on vinyl in 1988/89!
I can not understand how an injunction was not put out on Snap at that time they did that!
Chill was always nice 💪
MC Shan's sister Princess Ivori also released a song called "Wanted" over "The Power" beat in 1990.
I LOVE this channel!!! Hey @SorenBaker, how about an interview with the Latee and Lord Alibaski from the Flavor Unit??
Court is now in session!
What's Up Rob•Just wanna let u know u Dope man & that "Ride The Rhythm" Album was Hard•I Still have it on Cassette in Pristine Condition to this Day•That "Court Is Now In Session" Was/Is INSANE!•Glad to see your Alive & Well•Peace Beloved.......
Fortunately for me I had the opportunity to see Chill Rod G waay back in 1989 at a place called "Skate Plus" in Fairhaven, MA. when I was 17yrs old, just as "Ride The Rhythm" was bubbling in the streets! MC LYTE & D-NICE we're on the card that night too & their performances were top notch even tho it was in a small standing room only venue that I had never been to prior to that show. Looking back now after 30 + yrs. Later I haven't seen any of those 3 acts who performed that night since 89. 😵 BTW I thought it was dope to see that on the back of the "Ride The Rhythm" album the fan club info was based out of Providence, Rhode Island 💯
I was thinking about this great mc for awhile now ✊🏿, I remember when I saw him on the Public Enemy tour in Philly at the Spectrum in 1989, definitely UNSUNG!
This is a hell of a story behind that song..
Excellent rapper His Power is the best of the two. Cool vid.
This is great. Haven't heard from Rob in a while.
y'all do not understand who this man is..... his skill level was top notch
Your a gud brother my man keep up the good work my favorite rap group from NJ is PRT.
Nice, Larry Shelby. We have a series of interviews with PRT's Wise Intelligent. Here's a link, czcams.com/video/PpTn1Jq9X60/video.html. Check it out & let us know what you think. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
This man used to go through some BS with Double X Posse...all because he blew first. JC NJ...home sweet home. Glad he's still doing it.
Interesting, Ford Fairlane. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
True...Double X was some wild dudes back then...lol...Jersey City ("Justice Cee") was wild, PERIOD!
I thought they was Fam , Owe Boy was in both of there videos IYKYK
@Antonio Fernandez those were just videos my g.
Let me show you was my favorite song from Chill Rob G
I was there at that Awesome 2 Anniversary show, it was AMAZING. Saw legends like Jimmy Spicer, Ralph McDaniels, Keni Burke and more.
Good shit Sir
Chill Rob👑 - Getting up in the morning and getting dressed for school, 1580 KDAY AM Radio in Los Angeles, playing Rob G "Wild Pitch" was one of the iLLest Beats and Rhymes that inspired me to write my own lyrics and Battle Rap💯 Great to see the OG being acknowledged! I still listen to the Extended version of "POWER" when working out! #INFINITESaluteROBG👑 #WestCoastLuvNRespect
Correction, Stu Fine was not the man with the ear, he was the one who cut the checks. I would give the A&R credit to JEFF SLEDGE and another cat that used to work there, I can not recall his name at the moment, they were the go-to guys, that would ok the records to move forward to a meeting with Stu Fine.
🔥🔥🔥
Bout time he came back!! Been Raw since Ride The Rhythm!!
The power ...chill rob G ...👑👑👍👍👊👊💪💪👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏😎🇧🇷

Chill Rob G #Legend
Chill is a prefix Rob is proper noun G is greatness I don’t wanna debate this
-Real Rap
Dope Mc!
Chill Rob G will always be one of the dopest MC's to ever bless the mic. The "Let The Words Flow / Court Is Now In Session" 12" single alone is still doper than most of y'all weak, so called rappers' releases TO THIS DAY!
Yes Chill Rob G The Power Jam, undisputed track.
Agreed, S1. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
@@UniqueAccessEnt The Power is a complex legal copyright issue. Mantronix King of the beats was the the loop that was lifted and sampled. Mantronik in an interview more or less said he didn't pursue as it was from Bob James Take me to the Mardi Gras and Joycelyn Brown got screwed by Arista over the use of her voice being sampled on the track.
The new album is dope!
That talk Jayz and Nas....this is one of the best rappers to ever live... "Chill is a prefix, Rob is a proper noun, G is for greatness. I don't have to debate this, the way that I'm rising I appear to be weightless!!!
We miss Snap. SnoopDogg is the real gangster Rapper and he doesn't need a book
Thanks @mrhawk1924 for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
