Probably a pipe dream, but if you ever went to Inverness and wanted to visit one of the most remote areas in Scotland a trip over the sea to the Western Isles would be very interesting.
No big clubs, just a variety of smaller clubs who I’m sure would be grateful to have you and have equally as much history as some large clubs with connections to many of the large clubs around Scotland.
On the island of Eriskay stands one of the most unique pitches in the world: www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-highlands-islands-32824967 which FIFA designated as one of the eight strangest football pitches in the world.
As well as this, in Stornoway there is the largest Rangers supporters club in the world which has a lot of club memorabilia and many former players visit.
We would be grateful to have you and no one would turn you away!

But it's nice that someone such as yourself is giving the city this exposure.

Dundee is a place like no other. The 360 degree view from the Law Hill is incredible. You have incredible views for miles all around. Then you have the Waterfront which looks amazing especially with the 2 bridges and the views over to Fife. You are then only 10 minutes on the bus to gorgeous little Broughty Ferry and the beach! There is still a lot more that could be done but most of the schemes have all been replenished with new housing so they all look so much better. You are never far from anything in Dundee and you will find some really nice parks dotted around the city. Also, have a walk up the Perth Road and just look at those views across the Tay. For all the bad press Dundee gets, you will be shocked by just how much it has to offer. The nightlife in Dundee used to be amazing but like most places it has died a death. Really enjoyed the video. Glad you seem to have enjoyed the delights Dundee has to offer. Cheers 👍

I’ve had a great pleasure in working for both of these clubs one as coach for mental health football team ran by United and as a bar supervisor for Dundee FC, the inside of both of these stadiums are amazing Dundee I feel has a more historic feel to it, has lots of dark wood in there lounges my favourite was to work in the lounge where all the executive people used to go until I drop a whole tray of pints and was put to work in the lounge full of all the fans, i was only 16 and never new that pints where heavy,
Both these clubs hold a very special place in my heart from going to watch Dundee as a kid, with my grandad and going to work along side untied and Dundee, they are very community spirited, making sure there players engage in local projects and business, if you want a interesting subject look for the mental health teams in Scotland some of the teams are amazing especially the ones backed from big clubs.

Born in Dundee and lived opposite Dundee’s stand on the top floor and all you can see is the roof. Became a United supporter as a boy because Dundee were so snobbish they would not let me view the players at practice whereas United in the second league at that time in their rickety wooden stand had no problems letting me in to view the players.
I remember the strips used during their games starting with the two narrow hoops at chest height, then they went to all white with black trim, there was an all black strip that they used once that was apparently a mistake by the supplier, plus a checkered black and white large squares that was never seen again. Bummer for me when I bought the scarf with the two white strips and they changed to tangerine.
Fond memories of Dundee, now retired in the Philippines.

I first came to Scotland from south of the border at the very end of August 1991 for a few days. After driving as far as Inverness I came down to Dundee and went to see United play Aberdeen at Tannadice. It was a very unusual experience having stood between both grounds. The game was a goalless draw spoilt by some poor refereeing decisions. I stood on the old terracing before the current stand was built and I never forget the view of the stand at the far corner. It was one of the most unusual stands I've seen. The match was played on the same day as Celtic v Rangers and Hearts v Hibs. Looking back, had Queen's Park played at home, I could have gone to Hampden Park instead having already been to the old Wembley. The cartoon character who's statue you came across is Desperate Dan, an iconic character from the children's comic The Dandy.
Both The Dandy and The Beano were made by DC Comics in Dundee.
The Caird Hall is an impressive venue for staging many shows, gigs and concerts etc.
Dundee was a very affluent city at one point.
Famous for making a material called Jute.
    Also famous for Timex watches.

United got to the European Cup semis also, in 83/84 v Roma and were a bribed referee away from meeting Liverpool in the final. Like you said about Dundee, what may have been is pretty cool to think about

I never knew those things about the two Dundee clubs !!
Tannadice looks a lovely stadium, a very classy ground full of footballing history.
As a neutral though I prefer Dundee FC - their club colours and the fact that they were formed first seals it - sorry DUFC fans.
Another top video - really good travel guide for a city now on my list to visit, and a good intro to both clubs.

Great Video, I am a Dundee supporter along with my father and brother however you are right just like Everton and Liverpool our family is split down the middle as the rest of my family support United (their colour is actually Tangerine). On the European stories Dundee played AC Milan and Dundee United played Roma. It turns out both Italian clubs admitted bribing the referees in their wins, nothing like a bit of Italian corruption. Keep up the good work.

    • @FootyAdventures
      @FootyAdventures  Před 3 lety +1

Did you take the time to look closely at the railway bridge that crosses the River Tay from Fife into Dundee?
The reason I say this is that many years ago the original railway Bridge collapsed into the river Tay and if you look closely enough you can still see the stumps of the old railway bridge on a good day, just underneath the new bridge but a tad to the West.
Best seen from the Dundee side of the river.
