    Great video, loved the reaction. Elsa was amazing, wasn't she? From the quite menacing of "you'll eat less than you desire..." to the absolutely condescending "These are tortillas. Tortillas deliciosas", she's easily elevated among the top performers of the movie.

    I'm 26 now and have worked as a server since I was 14 spending 8 years with the same business. Elsa TRULY spoke to me as a character because she is not only what I strive to be but also an archetype of the other servers I used to encounter, usually the older ones by no fault of their own just being victims of this system. This movie impacted me in ways a movie hasn't since like idk the rocky horror picture show.

    Due to his behavior, it's fitting that Tyler didn't die at the end with the others. They were all part of the planned 'honorable' death. Probably if he had brought his original guest (who certainly made the right move to break up with him), as both were part of the original plan, they both would have died with the group.

    Something a lot of people don't necessarily point out, but that I think you would appreciate, is that Dominique Crenn is the food consultant in this movie! She was the first woman in the United States to earn 3 Michelin stars, and is known for some really interesting dishes that play with form and presentation. You can suuuuper see her influence in how the dishes are plated/conceived, and it definitely lends to the whole foodie feel. Everything in this movie is probably very legitimately delicious (I mean y'know, aside from s'mores made of people).

      Apparently, from what I've read, none of it was actual food but rather model food... except for that cheeseburger... and apparently everyone was so jealous of Anya Taylor-Joy getting to enjoy that cheeseburger that John Leguizamo bought everyone burgers afterwards.

    The whole situation is comically absurd. It seems to cover issues people deal with in any creative or artistic profession. It is not a horror movie, but is it a comedy because of how ridiculous the situation is. The actor seems like had a backstory and ruin similar to the Chef's. I could picture Actor George smiling in a picture of him in his college theater class, like Chef in his Burger picture.

    I experience this film as an indictment of egotistical reviewers and hyper fans of any art. For example, some movie reviewers on the internet seem to have lost the ability to just enjoy a movie. Not every film needs to be Citizen Kane. Another example, you have the ultra nitpicking in the Star Trek and Star Wars fandom. These people suck the joy out of those properties for me.

    Honestly, I'm so glad this movie didn't go with cannibalism for the premise. It would have been so easy to go that route, but it's so overused in horror, that not doing that was the right move. Especially given the art in food angle they go with.

    *OMG GUESS WHAT JUST BLEW MY MIND!!! You know how they say in movies, nothing is done for no reason because they won't waste the time and money to shoot a scene or dialog for no reason. With that being said....a film critic pointed out something that Blew my mind!!*
    ..
    *All throughout the movie Chef messed with each guest, letting them think that they'd be able to escape ..but he always planned to off them. (Ie. The men given a chance to run, the fisherman acting like the hero coastguard etc.) But they were all false escapes, Chef had no intention of letting anyone live and he was just messing with them by making them think that they can escape and be saved.*
    Now when it comes to Margot, the whole time she was there Chef was trying to figure out if she truly deserved to be offed with them that evening. Remember, chef had months and years to research the other guests and workers to know how and why each of them would be offed that day, but not Margot.
    And although he was trying to figure out if she should be offed he did inform her, when she asked to live, that EVERYONE is going to be offed that evening. And while chef knew he had to off her, he wanted to give her one last test to see who she really was and she failed it anyway.
    The test was when Chef told Margot that Elsa "forgot" something and he sent Margot to go get it. When Margot went into the house Elsa told Margot "I would never forget anything, he never told me to bring it." Which again proves that it was all part of his plan to setup Margot with a false sense of trust to see what she would do. We know that Chef sent Margot there on purpose ....and that purpose was to see if she would get the thing and come back to him or try to call out to the coastguard. Margot failed the test in his eyes because she wound up calling what she believes was the coastguard instead of being loyal to him. And after that whole false coastguard incident remember what Chef told Margot.. he said to her ".you are not a giver you are a taker and you will be offed tonight like the rest of them." AND HE MEANT THAT!
    *Everyone is assuming that he let her live because she called him out on his stuff...but oh no no....he just let her LEAVE BUT NOTTT LIVE!!
    *REWIND to the beginning of my comment and the beginning of the movie! REMEMBER what we know about movies.. nothing done or said in a movie is for no reason.. and this movie MADE IT A POINT to say that the meat from their cows is prepared in way to make it extra tasty. But if someone consumes that meat, even a day over it's expiration then it will slowly off the consumer. The movie even went into detail to tell us why and how it offs the consumer.*
    *With that being said, it is believed that chef letting Margot leave was his last false escape as it is believed that he made that burger with the tainted/expired beef!!*

    • @AnnaAlexanderAuthor
      @AnnaAlexanderAuthor  Před rokem +5

      I heard that theory, but there are other things that made me doubt it. I took that smokehouse scene to be a precursor that the guests are putting their life in the chef's hands.
      There are so many other things that make me belive me age gets away.
      But it is in an interesting theory. 🤔

    • @AnnekeOosterink
      @AnnekeOosterink Před rokem +10

      That burger is not made with smoked meat though. You can tell it's fresh beef. Have you ever seen smoked meat? It's dry and flaky, not in any way moist, like that burger. Plus you can't really fry a smoked meat, you get sad little cremated bits instead of a juicy burger.

    • @SeanStrife
      @SeanStrife Před 11 měsíci

      Yeah, the problem with that theory is... the burger wasn't made with the smoked meat. It's an interesting theory, but just kinda knowing some things about how meat works, it falls apart pretty quickly.
