I just got my Snapsafe XXL double door, now is time to put it together! Thanks for the video!
I have been looking into these safes for some time now...... Great vid Gavin!
As an investigator with over 30 years on the job I can assure you that "any" residential safe and safe room/vault can be breached given the right tools and enough time. I've seen several collections in safe rooms with vault doors, rebar and concrete reinforced walls breached in under 40 minutes. The weak point of "safe rooms" is the ceiling... if you can't crane a hardened, poured one piece ceiling on top your fooling yourself. That said.... for 99% of those needing a gun safe these are plenty good enough. The vast majority of burglers are armed with a Wonderbar, screwdriver and hammer.... none of which will gain entry alone into a safe like this. I recommend these be used along with an alarm system.... that can cure the time issue. In addition, any safe should be fixed to the floor and weigh at least 700# .... most safes breached in 30 years that I know of weren't breached at the point they were stolen. They were simply hauled off and breached at will in a safe location for the perps...
Thanks for info. Seems like a great option for people who live in an apartment or other place where on a top floor
Obviously it is not top level protection. But would keep people who come by from seeing what you own and also protect against unwanted touching of such items
Excellently explained as always. Thanks Gavin
Oh my god someone finally did it. I have had this idea for years... especially with the concept of growing collections. Would love to see safes sold like daggum closet organizers.
with the amount of Glock "ghost guns" I've been turning out the past year and a half I'll need one of these just for them, and another for all my AR10/15s, hunting rifles and shotguns. If I keep going at this rate I could become Viktor Bout the 2nd and arm all of Congo and Chad.
It depends on what you need thanks 👍
This would be perfect for my application, but wow! Expensive!
Mine shows up today. Thanks for the video.
Secure room.../me staring at the window right behind Gavin.
As for the safe, I can't imagine how long that will actually last in a fire. Those hinges are an easy attack point.
Wasn't sure if any else would notice the window.
cutting the hinges does not do anything, like all safes you need to cut the 14 hard pins also......or cut into the front door and disable the latching mechanism
He probably just forgot to mention the nitrogen room flooding system. (Hearing Mission Impossible music in my head right now.)
Some unlucky thief could end up with a less than attractive stash of 6.72 PRC custom wildcat rifles.....and a ballester molena pistol.
They will be tagged when they go to a local walmart asking for 6.72 PRC Core Lokt © ammo.
And they will encounter the 5 remaining mountain dews...and 23 pre-scratched losing lottery tickets, and a 2 day old ham sandwich. That's how I make it tougher for them in my compound. That and my chihuahua death hounds. All will be deafened by their high velocity barks.
Awesome safe. My little safe is packed full, I'm too stubborn to sell any firearms. Thanks for the video.
Great Report .
Thank You .
It’s pretty interesting to see the comments from people who don’t want to admit that pretty much any safe on the market can be taken apart in minutes with an angle grinder and that fire rating is a poor substitute for insuring your firearms given that few guns survive fires whether they’re in a safe or not.
just buy a real safe and not a metal cabinet. for a gun safe that about 5000 pounds and up.............. you wont get in a a few hours.... check out graffunder safes for example
@@johnmarcus2324 it comes down to practicality. Edit: we agree pretty much any safe is better than a gun cabinet.
1. How are you going to move something that heavy in? How are you not going to damage your house when you do it?
2. If you move, how are you going to move it? Odds are, you aren’t.
3. How much does the safe cost vs. your collection of guns (including delivery and install).
Bottom line is, less than 1% of people make a decision to get the level of safe you describe, even though many more than that can afford to do it. There are diminishing returns, all safes but the most extreme can be broken into.
Most criminals don’t want to go through the hassle/risk and they look for plentiful, much easier targets out there.
Anything a crook can get into quickly with an angle grinder is not a real safe. It’s a residential security container.
Any humidity in a gun safe (humidity is there whether there’s a dehumidifier or not) the guns get steamed like a pressure-cooker. Fire resistant/proof is smoke and mirrors. If guns get pressure-cooked, there’s a better chance than not you’ll at least find them with a coat of rust. Even if they don’t rust, they still could have gotten cooked enough that safety/reliability has been compromised. Try to explain that to an insurance company.
Wow you sound bitter Brady
Very well done‼️
Almost bought one. Went with Liberty fat boy Jr XXL instead. Watched their factory video. Glad I bought it when I did. Price has gone up $800. Own a Liberty Centurion that I store my reloading components. And bought a Union safe for my ammo.
Great video.
Putting front on before back would have been easier. Looks pretty great for basements and hard to access areas especially!
I think where a modular safe would shine is getting high security where it would be difficult or impossible to even move a safe into.
Would totes luv one that was 6-foot tall one. Not the most secure (ergo my dream bucket-list safe: Superior Safe Company Master Series), but a great idea!
Was surprised you included the key reorder code and images of the keys..
For interior lighting and an electric dehumidifier. Please add our options.
The doors come off very easily. Removing them for assembly is highly recommended haha
i always thought hanging rifles horizontal on sliding shelves would be the best and safe way of storing and removing the rifles...might be possible with this safe.
If they are going to go as far as fire safety pads why not fire protective wool between each panel. That way fire cant get in. Fire is like water it uses path of less resistance. You make a crack fire will go threw cooking whatever is inside.
Sounded like an infomercial rather then something Gavin has bought.
I expect it went back in its box and returned - the cabinet was not bolted down
Most people don’t bolt their safes in place really no need good luck moving it and if not what you are going to hook it up to a truck and rip it out? Is that before or after you have 20 police vehicles following you and btw most people put AirTags in their safes now so if stolen they can be tracked quickly and easily to
Is it possible to replace / upgrade the lock that comes with this safe (to one without a backup mechanical key slot)?
Do they make the Hornady Mobilis safes? Looks very similar.
Anyone with Snapsafe digital lock, the lock has 2 pre-set combinations that need to be changed.
it is a stretch to call this a SAFE. its really a metal cabinet. i imagine that a grinder or cutting torch would make short work of it a a few minutes :( probably ok to keep small children safe :)
If someone walks into your house w a cutting torch they will get into any safe.
more like a fire resistant gun cabinet... Which is what im in the market for.
For sizing up stairs and the physical ability of helpers, what would you say was the heaviest single piece weight? Any one piece go over 150 lbs?
be nice to get an answer on Dino's question. Excellently explained and safe looks good.
I have the single door smallest model and the door is the heaviest part at about 80 lbs. I imagine the heaviest single part on the XXL is probably no more than 150 lbs but it's definitely awkward weight so it's not something you want to put together on your own. Having another set of hands helps tremendously. A lot of these commentors completely miss the purpose of this safe. Most "gun safes" are way too heavy to transport and almost never move after being installed. These safes keep your investment in them by being way easier to disassemble and move. Once you settle into your forever home you can buy a traditional safe and be done. Thing is though all of them are glorified Residential Security Containers unless you actually build a bank like vault. Security needs to be approached in layers, if you don't have an alarm system then Safes are kind of pointless because they are meant to slow attackers down, not defeat them. With enough time all security can be overcome, that's why having a reaction force is critical.
@@Argentum88 Thanks for your detailed explanation. Have a great day.
The rear panel on this model (the XXL) weighs 180 lbs, according to SnapSafe's website.
I don't know how I feel about a bolt together safe but if I were to use one I guarantee I'd be using a very strong epoxy prior to bolting together !
I wish we could get safel like this in sweden, but we only have safes that are like 1/5th the size of this one and twice as expensive….. they are also horrible for storing guns……. Unless you buy a grade 3 safe for a small fortune.
Is it cheaper than a regular safe?
I was literally about to get one of these until I saw you hold up the “key back up” that’s a bad feature. Harbor Freight sells safes with key back ups. Something you want to avoid particularly with a nice lock like that. Oh well.
How much does the heaviest piece (front) weigh?
I just got this safe and in less than a day the locking mechanism failed (something to do with the clutch) and I was locked out of my safe. Has anyone else had similar issues?
Is this made by IKEA? 😂
No links to Snapsafe that I can find. Would have liked to see the price included the video. Found the website and almost $2.8k for just the "base" version of the safe shown and goes up from there. I wish you had done some comparisons of size/strength/cost/ease of transporting and installing vs buying a traditional welded safe. I like the modularity part but would have liked if you had gone into detail about the steel thickness and strength.
That said, I appreciate you making the video, I hadn't seen a safe like this before. I just wish there was more information included. We have outgrown our current safe and so far, everything trustworthy has become cost prohibitive which is why this caught my attention.
You should really talk to any fire fighter and have them tell you how much your fire rating is going to help you. Not to mention the 1000 gallons of water they will dump on top of it. Anything plastic or untempered glass is going to melt. You are better off building a secure room with secure lockers like ones from Secure It systems. For the cost of that safe you could have built a nice 10x10 room with fire retardant materials for about 5 grand
My safe is half that size, weighs more and is almost double the fire rating (the main reason for purchase). This isn't a bad thing for storage but I don't see it being terribly hard for someone to get into.
All safes can be gotten into. And guns in a higher fire-rated safe typically don’t survive in an oven for that long. For gun businesses with good insurance, this makes more sense, I think.
@@WoodrowWoods2007 I know that nothing is impervious and they only slow down people trying to get into the safe. But using the recommendations I talked to the local fire chief about how long it takes to respond and control a typical fire in our area. He suggested 1 hour at 1500 degrees.
OK
So only the doors are strongs, all other sides are just thin metal plates.
You know where to go if you want to break in this safe.
I have this safe. I wish now that I should've just gotten a regular welded safe that's maybe 3/16 thick all around. I think the modularity add a lot of weight not necessarily aimed toward the protection of your firearms and tightening all those bolts made me wanna not ever disassemble the safe lol. I do like the double doors a lot, I just wish the sides and back were thicker.
I’m an aircraft mechanic.
I feel like it doesn’t have enough bolts 😁
There’s more bolts on just a couple inspection panels than in this safe.
Office job, Mike?
(No judgment)
Why would you be happy about backup keys? It just means that anyone that can pick a normal key lock can break in.
will the pieces fit through a standard residential door frame?
Yes, we took this through an interior man door!
Sigh... lately Ive lost all motivation to shoot or reload. I havent been able to get primers since the stupidity started, here in Western Wa. and, Im hesitant to tap into my stored stuff... since things only seem to be going downhill, and I may need them to literally survive soon, thanks to Inslee and company.
Lets go Biden.
Great video as usual!
Mike, Sorry to hear that you've lost your motivation for reloading. I to live in western WA, even worse than that, Olympia, yet despite Inslee, I have bought at least 10,000 primers in the past two weeks. CCI #34s, #400s, #450s, WSRs and Federal Match small pistol. I could have bought more, but I was just topping off my supply. Just check Brownell's or Midway once in a while. Hell, walk down to Sportsman's warehouse, even they had primers and 8 pounders of Varget this week. If you stop mumbling and cursing about Inslee and Biden, climb out of your pity pot, you could buy some mags while you still can and do some shooting. You're going to need a good hobby with the way your music career is going. Don't be so down, that guy Kenny G is just a fad.
Im glad, your having such excellent luck finding primers! Im well stocked otherwise, but for some reason, am having terrible luck, finding primers. Folks must know, when the shipment days are, and are waiting for the store to open or something. Im on all the "notify" lists, I regularly try Cabelas, Sportsmans Warehouse, Coastal... etc. So, Im just having bad luck, I guess on timing. I gotta work. Oh and as far as mags...
Lol just remember, that your 30rd, 556 AR mags, identify as 10rd .458 Socom mags. 😎
If it isn't 7 gauge steel minimum it's a glorified cabinet. Never mind. 900 pounds created that's thin sheet metal
Either way I would get through it with a diamond blade cordless, don’t think it matters. Only stops the regular people not a thief that wants your stuff.
@@billyboyd418 I'd rather you need that than just a simple crow bar or sawzall
Glad that window is secured, and no tech knows that's a electromagnetic lock🤣🤣🤣 I was always told a lock keeps an honest man honest🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️
"This is the Lock Picking Lawyer..."
Maybe you shouldn't have shown the combination.
You have way too many firearms. You need to outsource your storage requirements to me!!!
That price though
Its $3500, for the 99.975% of people who NEED to know the price before bothering with the video.
*edit* that is a sweet ass safe though, by the way.
for 3500 ill just get a liberty or close to it!
Way too many $$ for that. I was thinking 5-600. You can get a regular 70 gun shipped to your house for around $1200.
Bosnian Bill has a whole series of videos about how to evaluate a safe, and he’s a professional locksmith who wasn’t selling anything. Here’s one in the series: czcams.com/video/3PK9_KEHml4/video.html
LOL
Small pistol primers. Small pistol Small pistol primers. Small pistol primers.
Well it’s better than nothing, but all you have is a locking storage cabinet. Good for keeping young children from accessing contents, but that’s about it.
When is the progressive press shoutout coming?
Can you teach WHO_TEE_WHO how to reload?
Thanks but NO THANKS !
16g steel???? That is not a safe….. it’s a cabinet.
Ammo cabinet 👍
Where are you looking? Specs say "Thick 9 gauge 2-ply steel exterior walls"
I'm REALLY looking forward to all the anoraks explaining how this is not a "real" safe
I have yet to watch past 5 seconds but, I wanted to comment.... That style of wood crate screams china. It's only built well enough to get into the shipping container.
I could be inside that thing inside of a minute! Hope you didn't spend a lot of money on it!
You can’t even tie your shoes
Glorified ammo locker. That’s all it is.
I'm all for sponsored content as it helps support the channel yet this is hardly a safe... No motivated intruder would take more than 1-2 minutes to break in
$3000. for a "safe" I can defeat in 15min with a $100. recip saw & an $7. blade...
Pass thanks.
No you can’t people have tried even with diamond coated, You simpletons think they haven’t thought of this while designing them. In that 15 minutes you would burn through 5-10 blades and would get maybe a 2 inches slot cut out 😂
Makers should understand viewer's QUINZAA.Monster time for this show under 6:00 to 8:00 ... There is no time of this show. They upload episode when they wantp and people wait all day 𓆟
