The '59 Impala is the wildest Impala ever and one of my favorite all time Impalas, and I love all of them from this era. The rear styling of the '59 is just off the charts. Congrats to owner on a rare, optioned out beauty, immortalized by our man Lou. Thanks guys.

The option list for my Dad's '64 Pontiac Bonneville was four pages long, single spaced. Everything from the kind of interior seat covering (cloth, cloth and man-made fabric, Jewel-Tone Morrokkide (you had to be there) or leather to I believe 8 engine options.

Impala was top of the line and you could order a Chevy pretty much any way you wanted it back then.
Power windows weren’t common but not that unusual on one like this.
What makes this one really unusual is the fuel injection and solid lifters, the four speed tranny and posi rear end. It’s essentially a Corvette drive train in a fully loaded Impala. Like it said in the brochure, a five passenger sports car.
Whoever ordered this one new, knew exactly what he was doing. Looks like he just checked all the options. The only thing I might have done differently is that I probably would have skipped the Continental Kit and *_MAYBE_* opt for the 348 instead of the 283 because I really like the W block (that’s the same block as the 409 which was first available on the 61 Impala SS) but then it wouldn’t be a Corvette drive train and the fuel injection gives it almost as much horsepower as the 348.
The 59 Impala is one of my all time favorite cars.
I’d rather have this than a 59 Cadillac.
Now I’m gonna see if he has any videos on the 58 Impala and the 61 Impala. That’s the trifecta.

Lou, my dad bought a new '59 Chevy, a Parkwood wagon, beige with bronze interior. There was a strong rumor back then that '59 Chevies would lift up at the back end when they hit 80mph because of the large flat fins. Crazy. Ours was a station wagon so we didn't think much of it. But I still think that the 1959 Chevrolet is one of the most iconic designs of all time. Great job Lou and thanks to Ken for showing his car.

    Goodday Lou,
I thought I was back in 1959 with that beautiful green country side, that is just so beautiful where ever you are.
Ken seems like a super nice guy & happy to share his collection for all the world to see. 1 of 26, does that put the Impala in the same league as Mopar E Bodies Hemi Convertibles, I think it does. That is just an amazingly beautiful Impala. Words fail me what you could go into your local dealer & order back then, what an era. We will never see anything like it again except you bring us these episodes to remind us. GREAT WORK AGAIN ☺.

Hi Louis, I'll say it's challenging to find a nice 59 Chevy, let alone a convertible, and add the rarely seen factory fuel injection unit making this the only one I've ever seen. However the "magic" in the collector car market about a 71 Hemi Cuda Convertible makes the price point on these two cars majorly different. That said, YES this is a super rare find, and you're right, Ken is a heck of a Guy. Good news! He has agreed to share his entire collection with us, so stay tuned! Geek, I know but I could spend a few hours reading those books, the 2 tone color mix was great. In my opinion, the full size 57 thru 63 Chevys were the best from a styling standpoint. Available engines went from the amazing 283 up to the beast 409. I always thought that the 1962 360hp fuel injected 327 Corvette was a true Sports Car.

Ken picks car likes a wine coinsurer picks his wines. Impeccable taste. This is another one I've always been in awe with. For years I thought the '57 was the one and only FI car, and was amazed when I learned they were again available for '58 and '59. I was further amazed with the factory 4-on-the floor manual! Likely it was a showroom stopper back in it's day. Usually red is my last choice, but on the '59 Impala it's perfect. There's been years of people knocking the styling, but you don't hear that today. It's a gorgeous sleek and oh so unique looking Chevy! My hats off to Ken.

Great car. Best gauge cluster in history. I grew up with a 1960 Kingswood wagon with the “lookout” 3rd row seat. One thing I noticed in the ‘59 brochure was the dual exhaust ports behind the rear wheels in the fender. I’ve never seen that before. Nice feature (and rare).

What an outstanding example of mid-century design, colors, and options. As has been stated previously, so many different variations to build your own unique style of transportation. I look at these owner’s manuals and brochures you present (from any given car) and think that all these were produced from hand-drawn, hand-colored/painted artwork, and the attention to ALL the details put into these for the benefit of the customer. Thanks Lou & Ken for a great presentation!
Edit: I guess the 2 dislikes are from those who wrecked their ‘59 Impalas before their time.

I still have a pic of myself at the base of the General Sherman Sequoia Tree from that trip. Thanks for highlighting, and bringing back such good memories!! A friend of mine today has a '59 Impala Convertable with the continental kit. It's quite an eye catcher. My first car was a '59 BelAir sedan. My Pop bought it for me for my HS graduation ('68), inexpensively because it had a significant dent in the driver's door, and a bent front bumper. I replaced the bumper with one from a junkyard, and had Earl Scheib take care of the dent and paint the car. I was a happy young guy.

Advertising for the 1959 Chevrolet promoted described it as "all new all over again". It literally was, because it was the second year in a row that Chevys got completely new bodies, and definitely not a car you could ignore. Those bat wings made even the humble Biscayne look a lot less humble! GM had been unexpectedly upstaged by Chrysler's tailfinned "Forward Look" cars in 1957, and the bat wings seemed to be Chevy's way of saying "Take that, Plymouth!" Uncle Tom McCahill, in his famously whimsical writing style, described that rear end as being "big enough to land a Piper Cub". Chevy brought out the first Impala in 1958 as a subseries of the Bel Air line, with only a hardtop coupe and a convertible, and for '59 it became the new top-of-the line Chevy series adding a four-door sedan and four-door hardtop to the mix, with the Nomad being the station wagon equivalent. It instantly became America's most popular car and remained so all the way into the Seventies!
As Bruce Springsteen once said, "fuel injected and steppin' out over the line"! Thanks again to you and Ken for another cool ride!

I'm 65, not doing well anymore, and haven't been to a classic car show in well over a decade, this is why I subscribed to your channel. it's the only place i can see and experience them all in their form and unchallenged beauty....never to be duplicated! thanks Lou!

Not many F.I. big cars and there really weren't many Corvettes made with the fuel injection. What strikes me as even more rare is the addition of power windows, power seat, with a four speed , and the 283 fuel injected engine make for a strangely optioned car. Comfort with sportiness all in one package. Great automobile .

Nice rare Impala, most Fuel cars were converted to a 4-barrel do to reliability issues, as well finding a guy to work on it. The X-frame was used from 1958-1964. A Turboglide early CVT type transmission was available from 1957-1961 at a cost of $50 over the powerglide, and only available With a V8. You don't see the vacuum ash tray very often.

Impala was top of the line and you could order a Chevy pretty much any way you wanted it back then.
