      I agree. I'm 56 and to be honest, when I was in high school in the early 80s, I dreamed of 67-69 Camaro's n Mustangs, and we all wished the auto makers would go retro year after year we waited and waited.
      Then I knew if and when I decided to buy an older Camaro or Mustang the auto makers would finally go retro, and when I went car hunting for a classic thAts exactly what happened in 2004/2005 and Ford let the 2005 model out !
      By then I was already committed with the 68 Camaro I found.
      Then I had to get a 2007 GT and tricked it all out, then a 69 Mach 1 , and then a 13 Boss 302.
      2005-2009 looks the best of the new modern era Mustangs because they look like Mustangs !

      My favorite thing about it is it's an underdog so to speak. People think 07-09 gt500s are "the slow ones" and 13-14 is 100x better when in reality these are lower stock (hp) but have the same ceiling and all you gotta do other than just bolt ons is a simple head unit swap once running the same or better blower than the trinity they make comparable power and little less torque once you have the same blower and supporting mods they're solid. They aren't as well setup factory but the significantly cheaper price allows you to upgrade the stuff that needs upgraded like driveshaft clutch blower etc. They start out lower but it's easy to gain a ton of power with simplistic mods. They are super badass bro. For the money they're the best one if you're planning on modding. If you just wanna keep the car stock the 13 is better set up factory but costs significantly more. It's all in what you want. You wanna mod it and have something older and more raw and badass feeling and looking 07-09 or 07-12 is good. The iron block in 07-10 is heavier but it's stout and cheaper to replace if you window it and it's also cheaper and easier to build it. It's also easier to replace as the block is the same as any 5.4 truck.
      Btw I got my gen3r for 3499 on black Friday last year American muscle has them right now on sale even less at 3350 which is a STEAL for a brand new gen3r. Tvs powered gt500 ftw.

    To be fair, i think this is the best year gt500. I just think theres a disconnect in regards to a gt500 because they're pushing into the exotic range, and people typically look more at cars that they either have, or could have. So videos involving a GT, especially build videos... I absolutely hate how few 3v build videos there are, mostly coyote and 2v vids.

    The GT500 is a true modern muscle car, if people don't like it, it's because they want a sports car. It's just the oldest GT500 (in modern times) so obviously it cant perform like a 70k 2013 GT500 or 120K 2021 GT500. The 07-09 GT500 is a VERY fun car and EXTREMELY easy and safe to make massive power out of. I think the 07-09 front looks the best out of any Shelby.

    The stock hp being 500 does make people look down on these compared to later gt500s. They think "well power is lower stock so potential must be lower" but that is completely false. They're just lower because they're more restricted once you open them up bolt ons and blower swap they can make as much power as any gt500 just as reliably. That is a major misconception to those outside the gt500 crowd. You can literally pick up 300+ rwhp with bolt ons and a head unit swap without much effort. These cars are just plain badass imo.

    • @midnight347
      @midnight347 Před 2 lety

      @@AllThingsBoost that is true I also think since they planned to build them for 5-8 model years from the beginning the purposely restricted the earlier cars so they could easily "improve" them over the years to make the new models seem alot better. Like for 2010 they got a better intake and tune stock and 11 and 12 got the aluminum block hp went up some but once modded they're all the same 07-12. The 13-14 has the 5.8 but 95% of the reason it makes the power it does is the blower on top. Big upgrade over the m122. You can easily swap the blower on earlier cars and have comparable power for way less money. The earlier ones can take just as much power some will argue even more as it seems the iron block cars hold up better at elevated power levels vs the aluminum cars ecspecially the punched out to the max 5.8 cars. I love the older cars I love that they're an underdog and underestimated.

      @AllThingsBoost if you reduced the weight by 100 lbs the car is then 3800 lbs? The car is heavy to begin with, iron block or not. I look at the 2007-2009 GT500 through a juice vs squeeze lens. I can still buy a low mile (-30K miles) 2007-2009 for $30K. Invest $5K into that car and you can easily have a 650-700 rwhp monster. Even if the upgrade cost is $10K now we are at $40K overall. For $40K you can have a 700 rwhp Shelby GT500? Yes. You can't buy a 2013 or 2014 for that price. I think the juice is worth the squeeze when it comes to the 2007-2009 GT500. I won't ever sell mine. Plus there is more to a car than speed and peak power numbers. A gt500 with upgraded blower feels and sounds way different than a blown coyote. It can make as much power as gen 2 up coyotes on stock engine and more than gen 1 coyotes and although it don't rev as high it has way more power and torque down low and mid range and the sound is more old school and all those things along with being older with less tech makes it more raw and old school and more of a "muscle car" look feel and sound vs a typical run of the mill blown coyote that EVERYONE has. That isn't a shot at coyotes I just think these are cooler because they're more unique and it shows that you don't need a coyote to have a fast ford with minimal mods with a stock motor.

  • @Heavy-C
    @Heavy-C Před 2 lety +2

    I think you hit the nail on the head. These gt500s are the best value for power these days. With some strategic suspension mods and the 5.8 swap, it's a no brainer for 600ish hp car which in all honesty, is going to win you most races. The Internet would make you think everyone has 10000hp, but most people are not there especially in newer cars.

    • @midnight347
      @midnight347 Před 2 lety +2

      Imo it isn't hard to match the trinity all you gotta do is swap the blower. 1500 dollar trinity blower and you're making comparable power for alot less money. You can go even beyond that to like a gen3r and really have a beast on your hands. Once you're running an upgraded blower they can make comparable power to a trinity car and they have the same limits of about 800ish on stock motor and some will argue the iron 5.4 is more reliable at those big power levels than even the 5.8 is. People act like these are nothing compared to the 13 I think that is totally untrue. Sure stock for stock its down alot on power but it is also alot more restricted stock and has a smaller more inefficient blower running about 5 psi less stock for stock (14 psi vs 9 psi) so of course its gonna make alot less power stock lol. These can gain 150+ to the wheels with simple bolt ons and 300+ to the wheels with a blower swap. They start out lower but can gain huge power with relatively simple mods. They are straight beast. If you plan to mod and swap the blower these make way more sense but if you are gonna keep it stock or lightly modded the 13 makes more sense because it has a better blower and more power capabilities with just bolt ons but once the blower is swapped it evens up the playing field for way less money.

    In my opinion, the 07-10’s were a lot more like the original GT500’s as those were as basic as they could be.
    I also like how simple they are, not a lot of electronic “features” to go wrong down the road as the car ages.
    The other thing about the brand new models is while they are top of the food chain this year, they always get bumped down notch within a year or so.

    Currently I own a 3V, my hypothesis as a fellow stang owner, It’s the crowdkillers. These gen 1 s197s are so good looking with a couple exterior mods. I feel any sort of prestige-factor these cars should’ve had with the classic styling is unfortunately overshadowed by the thousands of idiots who crashed these things. Regarding the 3V, to be honest it should have come with the Mach 1 N/A 4v and or a 6 speed manual and IRS. Unfortunately ford didn’t need to go all out on this generation because the Camaro was already 2 years in the rear view. Pretty lame on fords part.

    I remember when the 2013 and 14 came out most people myself included thought the 08 GT500 looked much better, because of the clean body lines, uncluttered face, and the interior with more retro with round vents and a more aggressive dash.
    Most pre social media car people really preferred the 08 GT500. Then social media and the internet created a new type of car culture, the post social media car culture which only cares about horsepower.
    The 13 and 14 grew more popular because of the internet only caring about horsepower. I have a 13 GT500, but I now wish I got an '08 because they look so much better.

    Sorry, but first I have to ask you why do you care what CZcams and the keyboard quarterbacks think about your car? I attended SEMA in 2004 when they debuted the 05 mustang. This car was a retro 67,68 Mustang and it was received with open arms after decades of emission control, choke down so-called performance cars. The early 2000s seen American muscle return, I’m sure that someday when you’re all driving around in electric George Jetson, 5000 hp Teslas that even a 2014 mustang will look like a schmuck. But let’s remember when you go back in to collect your car history, what it is that makes something special. First; it was innovative at its time of release, it broke down barriers in the automotive industry and returned America back to muscle car greatness. In my opinion, the 05/09 Mustang is hands-down the most beautiful and true to form retro Mustang built a Ford and upgraded by Shelby. And for all of those who think different, they’re just, not old enough to embrace the importance of your heritage. Just my two. Cents.

This style looks 100% closest to the 65' Mustang style, and sitting right beside the terminator in terms of classics, I believe this will be the _pinnacle_ of the classic Mustang, and in time _more_ desirable than the Terminator as they both age... Better sounding Ford 5.2 motor, Better classic original Mustang look, better suspension, and better interior will cause this car to eventually surpass the Terminator's hype.

Prices for a low mileage 07 thru 09 car are in the 40ish range still. that's a lot of money for a car that's 12 years old. The suspension is lacking but that's something that can be remedy but people now see these as investments and really don't want to go messing with them. I think these cars will really never go out of favor as they are a little more raw and closer to the original Shelby's. Time will tell but I think these cars will be iconic as the originals.

      You do realize how easy it is to even up the playing field far as power right? 1500 dollar trinity blower swap and bolt ons will make comparable power to a 13 with bolt ons pulley for pulley. And if you swap to an even better blower like a gen3r it goes even beyond that. Super easy to get way way more power out of these. Lower power stock but can make just as much power modded once they're all running the same blower and supporting mods. I'm throwing a gen3r on my 07 picked the blower up brand new for 3499 black Friday sale. That takes care of the "low hp" problem lol. 500 in 2007 was pretty solid and it did it with a very restricted setup. The 13 has a larger more efficient tvs plus they run like 14 psi stock vs these at only 9 psi. Throw a trinity blower on with the stock trinity pulley they can make 600 wheel on a stock car basically just like a trinity does. The 5.4 is very capable. I love all gt500s 07-14 for some reason many people look down on the earlier models. They see lower stock hp and assume potential is lower but that is false. They can make just as much power as any other gt500 just as easily just gotta swap out the head unit they can take 800+ on stock untouched long block and some will argue the iron motors are more reliable at big power levels than the 5.8 is. In this video he said the iron block adds 200 lbs over aluminum but it's more like 90 lbs difference. I love my 07 it is so raw and beastly. It's at 550 wheel with a drag pack and 410 so it's quick even with the stock tiny blower once I get that gen3r on there it's gonna be a beast. These things sound like pure sex.

I actually took it back to stock springs and stockish shocks (kept the swaybars and also the Metco UCA). Probably shouldn't have done that, but the ride was rather harsh with that setup. I also did not like the feeling of the back end being too low. I think I will replace my stock springs again with some that have a little rake. I think the fact that Ford didn’t do much with the suspension or other important performance enhancing measures outside of power is partly why. ALSO, I thought the wheels and tires looked kinda lame on these when they came out. I really like your setup though. I’ve been looking at these lately as my second fun car…👍🏼

      @AllThingsBoost  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks man, I agree with you. Ford left a LOT out, they fixed their mistakes at the performance packs came out in the 2011 onwards, but for the early generation they need some help to actually perform well even at stock power level.

    12:33 I just watched the video and really enjoyed it thanks. I just bought a 2008 GT500 from a friend and been working on it since he bought it. I feel there’s 2 major body parts missing the rear quarter window bezel and side scoop 2 signature parts that separate a regular mustang to a Shelby, just my 2 cents being a 67 Shelby enthusiast thanks again for the great video 🇺🇸

My advice is just enjoy the hell out of it. I have an 07 Shelby GT 500 Super Snake in black. I love the 07-09 body style and will likely never part with it. I’m actually considering looking for another 07 or an 08 in white. Haha. I also agree that the 07-09’s give you a lot of car for your money. Also, remember that 2007 is when Ford brought the Shelby back after 40 years. Your ‘07 is what kicked it off the return of Shelby. Do you want new hotness or the OG? Enjoy the Shelby my friend!
