The 13/14 will pull timing... a heat exchanger is okay ... a killer chiller is thee BEST cooling mod for these cars had both night and day difference .

    spot on especially the hood bubble issue! it’s extremely common issue on this generation mustang since the aluminum hoods have a tendency to oxidize from within if not prepped/sealed/painted correctly which is a shame but that’s what we can expect with mass produced stangs def planning to go with a composite hood in the near future on my 07 stang purely for aesthetics luckily never faced the oxidation issue. also on the earlier mustangs the firewall is prone to leaking water to the interior, flooding the floorboards from debris clogging the little grommets. also the windows being prone to scratches mainly your tint but was later revised on the 2008 model years where they came felt lined vs the straight up hard rubber thing on the older models

      This is common on a lot of S197 mustangs, this happened twice to me on my 2012 which I had for over 6 years. My 2018 GT which I’ve had for 3 1/2 years has much better paint. s550 body panels & craftsmanship are much better than the s197.

      I went with a 270 Amp nation's alternator for my 07 it was like 800 bucks with black powder coating so it wasn't cheap but it converts it to a large denso case alt instead of a 6g I think it is stock right? I heard the type of alternator it is is part of the problem which is why getting a normal even high output upgrade alternator in the stock style alternator case doesn't really fix the problem. This is why people go through multiple alternators I heard alot of good about nations on the terminator and gt500 forums and svt forums. Mine never went bad in 2 years owning it but voltage would drop down in the 12s out of nowhere driving that isn't normal I'm thinking voltage regulator was just starting to begin to go bad so to speak so I went ahead and upgrade right the first time buy once cry once.
      Having this upgraded alternator also helps if you turn slightly higher rpm than stock redline because that can real hard on an alt.

    Hi:
    You forgot to mention that the years 2007 through 2009 had issue with blown out CPM's. Mine went at 21,00 miles and the original could not be rebuilt . It had to be towed to JDM Engineering in Freehold NJ. They replaced the CPM with an 2011 computer. They also said that it was very common.

  • @RichardBettini
    @RichardBettini Před 3 měsíci

    Hi:
    Sorry your correct . It was the MAIN COMPUTER -ECU that burnt out completly. . When I had it brought in to JDM Engineering , they changed out the ECU with one of theirs ( from one of their two 2011 racing /drag Shelby GT500 -). Last year there were no refurbished, new or junked car ECU's that I could locate. I was really stuck!! A dead car . I also tried to rebuild the ECU but that didn't work out . That was a scam sending it out too be repaired. So I reached out to Shelby American and they gave me the name of JDM Engineering here in NJ. I had no other recourse but to go to JDM. So I was kind of lucky to get them to replace the ECU with one of theirs. Then they reflashed it with a SCT higher performance profile. They also changed out the plugs to a "cooler" NGK VPower Plugs set at .32 instead of .35. And, by the way, there was anotheer 2009 shelby GT500 at their shop with exactly the same issue.
    When I picked up the car last summer ( after they did all this work on it) it ran great and is very fast.

    Good job on touching on the crank snout. I was gonna make a video with more detail on that as well. Just to be clear, they break with aftermarket balancers too. My understanding is the way the snout is champhered and the way Ford drilled out the snout with a bigger hole than the bolt.

    Interesting theory on the alternator and tcs. I have an 07 and my alternator is throwing 17 to 18 volts at 3500 RPM. That surge is shorting or cycling my cabin electronics. I need to pull it and have a new regulator installed. I'll have to be careful to have TCS off at all times. It's annoying as it is auto on with ignition.
    For others with the problem, throw a bigger alt pulley. That's also on my list once I pull it. This should prevent a repeat issue. These alternators are in an awful location so once is plenty.

    • @AllThingsBoost
      @AllThingsBoost  Před 3 lety +1

      Holy crap, mine has thrown as high as 15 volts, but 18 is nuts! Just got it rebuilt by PA Performance, voltage regulator was bad. Reinstalling it soon, so hopefully I'll see the normal 13.5 volts.

      @@AllThingsBoost mission accomplished! So I swapped the alternator with the J2 180 amp along with the Big 3 wire kit. The switch amplified the issue!! After about 10 hrs of testing and configuring things differently I started to mess with the data wires going into alternator connector. I de-loomed the wires, separated them and plugged it back in, problem solved!
      Long story short I think the data telling the alternator how much output to produce was being corrupted from either being too close to the other wires, or just not making good enough contact.

    I shift my bolt on 410 car at 6200ish because I'm worried about rpm. I've always heard rpm kills these motors faster than sheer hp does. Is it really safe to take them up as far as 6500 and still be cool? I know 200-300 rpm dont sound like much but it makes a big difference when you're going all out racing...the car is def gonna be quicker taking it out to 6500 vs 6250ish question is is it worth the potential risk? Cost vs benefit lol. I'm not sure hoping some more experience gt500 guys might chime in. Mine is 111k 07 with the stock shit balancer on it. Gotta get that replaced with a 10% and this bolt you speak of asap. Nice video man I'm so jealous of the red. I have had 2 2007 GT500's. Check with Shelby before doing anything. The car may not be capable of what you're asking. This whole video is based on aftermarket equipment and advice. Yes, the harmonic balancer is no good when you mod. Yes, the clutch is inadequate if you want to do burnouts. The car was designed to be a high powered Grand Touring machine. Want to race? Get a Foxbody. They weigh 1,000 pounds less than this car. I have had many Foxbody's.

      You agree there are shortcomings so what is your problem again? Are you saying don't fix them? You realize that racing has nothing to do with most of the issues right? Thank you for sharing. Question, have you ever experienced a fail safe mode upon start up? Having the battery fully charged, it feels like a hard start and then the fail safe mode message shows up. I can sometimes turn it off and turn it back on and works, later on, the problem shows up again.

    • @AllThingsBoost
      @AllThingsBoost  Před 2 lety +1

      I personally have not experienced anything like that.
      Usually when I read about a fail safe issue its throttle rated, but I can't say. If you have a way to pull codes via a tuner or OBDII scanner, maybe there is a code to point you in a direction that may not have triggered the check engine light to turn on.
      Other than that, you may have to take it to a professional or talk with your tuner if you are tuned for further diagnosis

I heard of one car recently on fb groups that said he had to replace an ecu that was an 11-12 car which may or may not have the same ecu being 5.4 cars they bad stuff added to them in those years so maybe not never heard of that with an 07-09. The stock clutch which should be replaced anyways and the shit 2 piece ds all mustangs had get rid of it and get an mgw shifter. That along with the other usual mods is all they need to be pretty stout. My 07 has a gen3r with stock headers around 750 rwhp.

      Nice man, I plan on rocking the stock hood for a good while longer. Appreciate all the comments, how do you like the 13 over the 07-09?
