    • @samoksner
      @samoksner Před 7 lety +32

      Felipe Bedoya it's inevitable though, unless Montoya had the ability to brake later, being on the inside will result in a steeper entry angle to the corner and slower exit so whoever is on the outside just waits a second, gets back on the gas earlier while the other driver is still under steering - in this case or when Lewis and Nico hit, the inside driver was never going to make the corner at all without running off the track so the guy on the outside has to be conscious, wait for them to eat gravel and then get on the gas. Props to Michael for seeing and correcting for Juan's desperate move that could only end 1 way

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying, that he did something good (even though he is undeniably one of the greatest F1 drivers ever - for me the greatest), it was mean from him, but not selfish. Plus, the maneuver againts Damon was more like on the edge (Schumacher was in front of him, so the corner was Michael's - nowadays, some driver dives in this "dissapearing" gap like Damon, hits the other driver and gets the penalty). It was the maneuver againts Jacques, that was over the edge, and still he did also for the team, so he wasn't so selfish. Yes . Just like Jacques Villeneuve, who was always had that character in him, especially back in 1997 Jerez /European GP.
      Back then, the way I saw it, JV was never gonna make that turn. JV attempted to lunge down the inside of MSC (like how Ricardo in a Red Bull car often managed to achieve) but JV was gonna overshoot straight off the track. However, MSC turned into the corner at the correct moment to make the turn (unlike this incident @ 1:26 2001 A1 race where he locks up and skates further straight). But all that unimpeded momentum from JV's straight on approach got transferred to MSC's car, effectively punting Michael hard into the gravel. Luckily for JV, by transferring all of that momentum onto the car outside, JV appears to make the corner without fuss.
      I consider it reckless racing incident as JV could have disabled both cars, but I cannot believe it got turned into Michael's fault.
      But whatever, just my opinion, can't change history.
