The truth about Schumacher needing his teammates to sign #2 driver contracts so they weren't allowed to beat compete against him on a level playing field has been leaked. His whole first career is based in a lie:
"At the time I handled people like Rubens Barrichello, Eddie Irvine, Giancarlo Fisichella and Jean Alesi, and every time we went to sign a contract with Michael Schumacher or Ferrari it always had conditions in it" - Eddie Jordon.
"Whether I signed with Eddie Irvine, Rubens Barrichello or whoever they were - there was a clause there that they always had to play second-fiddle to Michael Schumacher.' Eddie Jordan
"I had an opportunity to go to Ferrari but the contract that was offered by Jean was that if Michael was 5th and I was 4th, I had to move over, and, if I was 1st and he was 2nd, I had to move over.I couldn't sign a contract that committed me to being a #2" - David Coulthard.
"Ferrari, the contract that was offered effectively made me, on paper, number two to Michael. I've no doubt that Michael was the stronger driver out of the two because I recognise he was a better overall package than I was but at that stage of my career, I just couldn't accept signing a number two contract and that's why I decided to sign at McLaren and I think that was the right decision for my career." David Coulthard.

Same here. He did things with cars that had no merit to be up there (Belgium 1991, Catalunya 1995, Hungary 2000, San Marino 2005 and this race, for starters).

Raikkonen a beast again, but once again victim of reliability...sad
Raikkonen's McLaren days summarized. He really deserved to accomplish more when he was there
Just a little anecdote -- It wasn't until late summer of 2020, during an interview, that I realized that Kimi indeed does have teeth !!
Kimi would have won this race had his throttle pedal not failed. He was absolutely flying like a demon.
McLaren cost Kimi several wins (10+) and 2 world titles in 2003 and 2005 simply because of car reliability.
Thats why I would always say that Lewis Hamilton is the luckiest man in the world. Kimi had such bad luck with reliability and when Lewis came his first DNF cause of reliability problems was in the middle of 2009! That means 2 1/2 years without any engine blow ups or anything from the car.
@@ciaronsmith4995 I mean it is very difficult to have a car that is both as fast as the Mclaren was and as reliable as the Renault was. Kimi and Alonso are both amazing drivers but it came down to who had the most balanced car, and that Renault had the edge in terms of reliability
This is still my favorite Schumacher race. It kinda had it all, Wet, then dry and Michael fighting through field to take the win.
Ferrari VS Renault, Ferrari strategy VS Renault strategy, Schumacher VS Alonso VS Fisichella, Championship on the line.
That daring all or nothing overtake from Michael on the grass at Turn 1, Bridgestone VS Michelin. The tires going in favor of Renault then it started to dry and the Bridgestone tires found pace.
It was epic and Alonso charging back at Michael with everything he had and then Schumacher hanging on to take his 91st F1 victory. That was my childhood. I wish F1 TV had commentary for the classic race. This is the race I want F1 CZcams to upload I've asked many a time. Please... It would mean so much to me. Keep Fighting Michael. He certainly did in this race and 2006 Season.
I miss that tension.
Kimi would have won this game if his car would have lasted.

I like these relatively smaller cars era of F1
I think that would make racing actually more exciting again if they made the cars smaller. Those spaceships they are driving now barely fit side by side on most tracks 😐
Cannot agree more. Nowadays F1 cars are truck-size
@@jinoss1768 yep and it makes the sport less appealing to newcomers, because without the telemetry, it's quite hard to fathom how fast these days f1 cars are with their ultra stable aerodynamic performance and the much more heavier, and wider chassis.
The front wings looked horrible back then. The cars were better looking in 2004 with lower front wings. Such a shame they did t run slicks, otherwise they'd be even faster and more responsive.
I like the width of today’s cars (particularly the fat tyres), but I agree that they’re too long. That era had beautiful cars and they were much lighter too. The only thing I don’t like about early-mid 2000s cars is that they had traction control.

Michael was always hungry for wins until end of 2006. Was the best mentor in Mercedes.
This is so true. Ross Brawn once admitted that when he proposed to Mercedes that he wanted to bring in Michael the ones who opposed were these "people we got from Manor who didn't want Michael in the team because they knew what kind of work they had to do once he was in the team". Norbert Haug swiftly approved Michael's deal to join Mercedes and the team you see today is in no small part due to the time they spent with Schumi as Toto Wolff himself admitted: "Michael Schumacher is one of the founders of our success today."

Went to Ferrari (third best team at that moment while having contract proposals from the top teams like Williams and McLaren, but went to Ferrari instead) and became the face of the Italian brand by building his own team and helping mechanics by himself on his own car and giving Ferrari their first F1 titles in more than 20 years!

He did not die
Schumacher went from a team he won 2 titles in a row with, to a team that hadn't won in the sport for over 2 decades. He helped to build the foundations of that team over the next 3 years and then went on to dominate with that team for the next 5 years. He helped and was a crucial part in building their success.
He also came out of retirement and helped developed Mercedes into what they are now before Hamilton took the seat He was in. Brawn himself said Schumacher had an immense and crucial part to play in developing the car and team into what it was to dominate the sport with Hamilton at the wheel.
Schumacher has and always will be the greatest F1 driver the sport has seen, alot don't like him, but anyone with common knowledge of F1 won't dispute that. Hamilton is a great, that can't be disputed. But he is not the greatest of all time.
