Even if he is somehow found not guilty- this case and his wife case will hopefully give parents in the US that ONE EXTRA THOUGHT to secure their guns and better parent their kids. These people have had their lives exposed, texts and messages read and heard- all of their dirty laundry aired. That alone should give people motivation to do better as it relates to guns in the home and teen mental health.

That's incorrect. The gvn WAS secured correctly! There were NO requirements for gvn storage @ that time!
He had every right to purchase a gvn for his son - and most parents in Michigan do so. The school had "Late Start Wednesdays" because all the kids went out hunting every Wednesday morning!
The school psychologist & the child's teachers didn't have any concerns about his mental health prior to that day. He didn't exhibit psychosis, violence, defiance, disrespect, poor hygiene, or anti-social behaviors.
The day concerns for depression & potential self-harm arose, the parents BOTH went to meet with school staff. They were specifically told to get him in therapy within 48 hours - & what did they say? "YES! We'll do that!"
They discussed with school staff whether or not they should remove him that instant, and the school counselor said, "No, he can stay!" Not knowing what your child is up to secondary to your neglect of your child is not a defense.
JC knew his son was hearing voices, was not sleeping, was left alone all the time starting when he was very young and begging neighbors for help, asking for help from his parents but being laughed at or told to "suck it up." The coup de gras: was that his wife was afraid their son would "do something dumb." He knew/knows all this.
I'll be 30 in June, no kids or husband, because I'm living my life first. But this case, and the tragedy brought about by the shooters' parents' neglect, and lack of giving a fig about the child THEY brought into the world, has brought out maternal instincts I didn't know I had. So desperate was the shooter, that he wrote and drew and looked up bullets IN SCHOOL where his activities would be seen, trying to get help from SOMEBODY. He got nothing, story of this kid's life. He knows his parents will get a vet for a horse, while he gets jack from daddy and mommy dearest. Oh, sorry. They gave him a bottle of whiskey to drown his sorrows and drink himself to sleep at 15 years old.
There's no help for JC's son now, nor for Madison, Hanna, Tate, and Justin, all of Blessed Memory. All that's left is for the jury to find the POS sitting at the defense table GUILTY for the four deaths, and for the judge to sentence the POS to the max sentence the law allows times 4, those sentences to be served consecutively. Please God, may it be so.

This is a slippery slope! Has there ever been a case where a kid, who is driving the family car, goes out, drinks and kills someone in an accident? Do they hold the parents responsible? I've never heard of it. But.......if you are going to hold people responsible, can't you also level charges at the people who dealt with Ethan Crombley at the school? The person who, after being asked if the parents should take Ethan home for the day, told them that he could stay. Should he be culpable for the crimes of the boy?
How about the Laken Riley case? Should ICE, or the Biden administration be culpable for the crimes of Laken Riley's suspected killer, since he was captured illegally entering the United States but then released into the population? Where does it end? We are already living in a world of cancel culture, where people are judged for perceived wrongs and have their entire lives turned upside down, based upon word of mouth. Apparently we are also living in the age of the witch hunt where people want revenge towards everyone connected with people who are accused of crimes. It seems like we are living in a Twilight Zone episode these days.
Finally, why can't they mention Ethan Crombley's name?? Why does he have to be referred to as the son of the accused, or the "killer"? We're all adults in the courtroom aren't we??

Weak closing argument. In fact, some of her points even help support the prosecution. For example, about buying the gun.. she states he doesn't converse with his son in the gun store, & that if the gun store person knew he was buying it for someone else (especially a TEENAGER) , they would have NEVER sold it to him. Exactly. Him buying it for his son & not appropriately securing it & locking it up is enough to convict him as guilty. And just because a child has no behavioral issues in school, does NOT mean they are doing fine. Many are quiet & hold everything inside...& if I saw that math paper & his drawings & what he wrote, I would NOT need any counselor or school official to suggest concern about it. I would be extremely concerned on my own and taken him straight to ANY place to seek psychiatric counsel at that moment. They are not necessarily guilty of him shooting anyone, but most definitely 100% GUILTY of not PREVENTING this from occuring. He should not have been bought that gun to begin with, but even so, not having it in a gun safe is irresponsible on the parents part & now 4 innocent children are gone. So sad for those families & friends of those that were fatally shot & killed.

Just curious: how many other parents went home and checked to see if their guns were still at home? I've never heard of that being a thing at any other school shootings.

They had a meeting 2 hours before the shooting. They saw his drawing, two hours before the shooting. All the other parents that own guns did not have a meeting two hours before the shooting.

Hmmmmm.
They discussed with school staff whether or not they should remove him that instant, and the school counselor said, "No, he can stay!" When parents are told by the _Professionals_ that their child's fine to stay @ school & that he needs to start therapy within 48 hours (and parents concur) which part were they wrong for?

James sure made plenty of mistakes and he should have know something was of with his son. BBut I think the mother is the evil one and she was to for her son, was busy with her lover and going away with the lover and was forever busy with the horses. She spent most of her time away from home. A bad bad mom.

    • @ThatRedhedd

That's a very confident-sounding judgement while you don't know these people.
Nobody testified that Jennifer was a "bad mom." Nobody testified that she was evil, or never home. She didn't go away with "her lover." She _occasionally _ went away for work - and he met her. Moms are allowed to have hobbies...allowed to own horses, FYI! "Ooooh...she had horses, what a bad mom!" Seriously?
You're not a psychologist, and only have a limited, curated set of information about the family, as opposed to a complete picture of the family's interactions. You're assuming more than you're capable of knowing. That's unfair, and you probably wouldn't like people who don't know you making those statements about your character. Whether or not you have respect for those parents, that manner of speaking isn't a practice anyone should engage in.

James, is guilty, of not putting a lock, a secured lock, not with 000, entry code! And keeping it! Put away! Is James guilty, of neglect, and not taking care of his son? Yes! But, James didnt kill those people! His son, did! What good , is it, to lock the dad up? Its not going to bring those people back! Should the school , be held accountable? Yes! Especially, the counselor! He should of searched his son's bag! And none of this, would of happened! The mother, wow! She is a terrible Mother! She should get 7-10 years! , james should get 5 years supervised probation! So, he can at least, be present in the kids life, regardless how grim, that will be! And james shouldnt be able to purchase or own a gun! Case closed!

If he got an “fair” jury he might have an chances. He actually had an good lawyer, and she brought up very good points in her closing arguments. The key word is an fair jury though, like the law and his lawyer said if you have any reasonable doubt you can’t vote guilty. Because the media wants you to say guilty from day one doesn’t change the law. I feel like they had stronger case against the mother. He “might” walk if the jury if is “fair”. But let’s me honest he would have an hard time to find an fair jury any where in this country. The school counselor also should be charged, he should said something way before he did!

He can't hear .... REALLY! except when whispering with his wife in the back of a police care. He's FOS. Justice for those innocent children ...

I said it before and I said it again I think that they could have done a little bit better job if they knew their son had problems with hiding the weapon but you got to remember to you can't say what somebody else is going to do you know my parents didn't know when I was a kid that I was going to do certain things and get in trouble or act out on certain ways My grandmother used to say it best you got the angel on one shoulder and the devil on the other and what side you going to choose and that's really the real what it comes down to here I've been around guns my whole life and started shooting a rifle at about 7-8 years old my father my uncle used to go out hunting taught us how to skin fish catch fish and things like that deer raccoon in different animals to survive that's what people did years ago before there was meat markets or anything else and then the government gets involved and everybody got to have licenses and all this stuff because they're not making a profit from it hunting and fishing licenses you never needed no hunting or fishing licensebut the fact of the matter is in the point of view is that I've been around guns me and my siblings my whole life and I've never hurt nobody and they've never hurt nobody with them so what does that mean that means that not only do we have a lot of respect because it's a gun and it could kill you yourself by looking at it the wrong way or holding it the wrong way or playing a game with your brother or sister but also I would like to note that if I went out and did something with one of the guns that my parents owned for hunting or whatever else did my parents specifically know I was going to do that no they don't know what you're going to do and I don't know what they're going to do this wasn't premeditated I don't know how any jury could ever convict him or his wife because they didn't put a special type of lock on their gun safe it was still in a safe whether it had a special code to the safe or not and even that said there is no law that discriminated or takes away that you can't teach your kids how to use a weapon or to go out into the wilderness and hunt I very highly doubt that stuff that their son said they're things that he is said probably brushed it off and figure this is their son he is a loving son and he would never do such a thing that's the way I feel I don't believe in my heart deliberately that they give him a gun and bought it specifically for him to go in and just shoot people at his school their son shot four people we hear more about this casethen we do the drive-by shootings that happened in occur every day in the ghettos where babies are shot in the head tore up from a drive-by shooting in half the time they don't even find The Killers that's the sad part rest in peace to all the children that died here and the lights were lost and condolences to the families I am truly sorry but we're hearing about this case more than we hear about the cases that happen every single day in the ghettos if this happened in Detroit you'd probably never even hear about it not in the outskirts of Detroit but actual Detroit them kids down there Robin and stealing and shooting themselves every day that's like an everyday thing and that stuff's been going on since the seventies probably even before that but since it's in a town where it's all mostly Caucasian descent it makes headlines but I personally don't think that the parents should be on trial for something that their son done
