    I think nowadays people just want to be told everything and have lost the art of inner guidance. Thanks for teaching us all that our essences do matter and that that needs to be expressed in order to feel authentic. Another great message and video.

      I think it's natural to want to get some advice on style but then we get pulled into this vortex of rules and systems and the "one way to look good" and it's easy to loose your footing and start listening to all types of voices which aren't really helpful to you
      Thank you for being here!!

      @StyleThoughtsbyRita exactly. I am all for advice so I can learn things etc I am very open to it all. I am glad you take the more personal approach to finding it. There is nothing better than listening to our inner selves for the final decisions. Self expression is such a beautiful thing. Love all your content xxx

      I'm very analytical. It almost gets to the point of ocd (I have anxiety so that doesn't surprise me) and kibbe... whew. I'm still nit-picking.

      Omg I am autisitc too and I was wondering how many of us would actualy realy resonate with her systhem!
      I tried Kibbe and Essence but it gives no room for my sensory needs and masking/unmasking, but Ritas systhem is perfect for that and allows me to express myself in a way that isen't a NT costume nor the instagrammable autisem with allover querky, loud colors a d fashione colored hair. Not that thats bad at all, I actualy love this typ of style, but I can not handel the attention it gets me when I dress that way most times 😅 I think I am L/D but I am not sure yet. I am very litteral and a little extra and I like my cloths to make sens, but when I tried the right logic, a storry to tell, impression to make, or think about an audience when getting dressed I get super overwhlmed, end up changing my outfits 10 times and not being happy with it.
      But when I go with "I feel like I want to disapear in the night today and be gently hugged" amd dress acordingly its a GAME CHANGER 😍😍😍
      What do you with where you fall?

      @@More13Feen Hello fellow ND!
      I'm a Moonstone RD in Rita's Style Key system. Just following Kibbe or Essences doesn't work for me either. Masking & unmasking plays a very big part in my personal style and I find most other style advice very limiting when it comes to this aspect of me. I also find it very hard to actually buy clothes. I'm not sure if I'm buying them because I like them or because they're socially acceptable. Although I dressed to be a bit more alternative when I was younger, now I don't like to be noticed a lot of the time. This has lead to my clothes being so boring that they could belong to absolutely anyone!
      I'm trying to discover my personal style so that my clothes can do the talking instead of me. (Although the idea of disappearing into the night to be gently hugged sounds really appealing!)
      Wishing you all the best with your personal style journey 😊

    Can confirm - found Style Thoughts by Rita around a year ago (ish?) - FULLY TRANSFORMED my life actually. Clothing impacts experience. Once I realized I am Left-Up quadrant (in Rita's videos, check out the playlists!), I stopped trying to force myself in a box. This is the first discussion on style that makes any sense to me.

    Listening to Kibbe and Kitchner's descriptions of essences right down to what a person likes to do with their time always struck me as just this side of "let me feel the bumps on your head and I'll tell you how intelligent your race is".

      Body shape as a personality has been used to oversexualize curvy bodies for a long time.

    • @StyleThoughtsbyRita
      @StyleThoughtsbyRita  Před měsícem +8

      Yeah... A lot of it makes me really uncomfortable. I think it starts off in a reasonable way (the way our body or face looks gives off some general impression) but it goes way too far. The idea that if you're not behaving "correctly" according to your body shape means you're in denial of your true self just feels so unreasonable to me, it erases the nuance and dimensionality of people
      I also think in Kibbe case the system suffers from being based in old Hollywood. Like... That was not the time or place where the full dimensionality of womenhood was seen or celebrated. There's no way that old Hollywood found the *true and complete list* of female archetypes. So even if Kibbe did separate the body from the energy (which he doesn't) his energy descriptions are sadly stuck in a weird time warp

    • @StyleThoughtsbyRita
      @StyleThoughtsbyRita  Před měsícem +3

      Yeah it is so exhausting and also telling all short women that they come across as so dainty so they should play into it with their personality seems very limiting

      @@ifetayodavidson-cade5613 That's why some many asexual people claim Jessica Rabbit. Just because other people sexualize her, doesn't make her sexual.

    I think a lot of people just want to like what they see in the mirror, start looking for style advice and end up going down Kibbe and Kitchener etc. rabbit holes that make them completely lose sight of what makes them feel good, because they get so hung up on how they think they NEED TO dress. I might be a flamboyant natural but what's the point of wearing those lines if it makes me unhappy or doesn't fit with my spirit or personal aesthetic? There has to be a marriage or a happy medium between the lines or style that works with your body and what makes you happy on the inside. Rita you're so right.

    Thanks for sharing your approach to personal style taking in consideration the underlying energy that we all have. For the past almost three decades I was part of a very restrictive group where personal expression was totally dismissed. Now in my 50s I am reclaiming my love for fashion, as I was a very fashion forward teen and young adult in the 80s (New Wave style). A few months ago, I discovered this world of body types, Yin Yang, essences, color analysis, etc., and now I'm rebuilding my personal style and my wardrobe. Love this view on styling!

    Great video which makes a lot of sense. Ethereal essence, and to some extent natural, come through no matter what I wear, so it’s a case of dealing with sensory and physical needs and then honouring the essences in ways which truly represent me.

    I very much agree with what you shared here, and realizing this over the years has helped me to continue to better understand my style desires and myself!
    Why do I keep gravitating toward a top even though it doesn't suit my coloring or shape - it suits my mood! I have a friend who has deemed, at least since puberty, to have been tuned into this intrapersonally and style-wise. Although her and my styles only overlap in certain areas, I am inspired by her innate understanding of enhancing people's flavors through fashion. (Unsurprisingly, she associates people with colors. So it seems to happen on a deep level for her!)
    Semi-related: There's a tween graphic novel series, Space Boy, which I started to read alongside my stepdaughter. It's a very pleasant read! In it, the main character senses people's "flavors." At one point she meets a pair of teens whose flavors she feels complemenent each other's. It's a fundamental way of how she intuits or reads people and their energy.
    Highly recommend to male and female teens and teens - adults as well, honestly, if you're looking for simple but interesting story, with characters fleshed out and written with emotionally intelligence. 😙

      Thank for the recommendation it sounds great! I also think it's so cool that your friend associates people with colors. After working with so many clients I can definitely confirm that people often look VERY good in "not their colors" or "not their shapes" when those colors or shapes are chosen with intention and are harmonious to the heart and soul. So even though I think color and line recommendations are super useful for many people I also think it's helpful to let them go when they aren't serving

    Yet another new perspective to think about and assist us, Thankyou Rita. Re using a celebrity as an example of how their style reflects their personality and your perspective of Kim K. ~ I see her totally differently. To me she’s very much about drawing attention to herself and shocking people and I’m not quite sure what that says about her, will need to think some more. I know it doesn’t matter if we see people differently because it’s all about the concept and using it, so maybe Kim could be my celebrity I don’t like 😂
    BTW, I love the fact you’re at that breathless last stage of pregnancy 💞

    Hello, Rita! Thank you for this video, appreciate you talking about this topic in such a thoughtful manner. By the way, when I saw one of your videos on CZcams for the first time, I thought "Oh, her huge bright magnetic eyes are so similar to mine! And her cheeks, and this youthful cheerful smile remind me mine as well. I even curled my soft hair in a very similar way to hers for many years." And then I've checked your name and couldn't believe you're also Rita ❤ Is it just a coincidence? I don't know. This may be only my opinion, but I feel like your name may influence the energy you bring to the world. Anyways, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts! Your channel is awesome!

      Yeah but I am not personally very convinced by that system nor do I think our energy can be read from a still picture of our face. Of course the way we hold all the muscles and tissues in our face is a reflection of the inner world but idk I think people don't often come across the way you would expect just seeing their face

    I don't really know much about Kim. K. because I've never watched a show with her, I only see her image on the red carpet.
    I find it particularly unpleasant that she doesn't seem vulnerable at all... yes, she always wears very revealing clothes, but she always seems very tightly strapped and armored, she lacks feminine delicacy, she always seems like she's wearing armor, very tense.
