I haven't even watched the video yet but I'm excited! I'm so tired of trying to find style suggestions only to find a size 0 person trying to show me how to hide my fupa!
im australian woman 59 and i love watching you english women talking about fashion hair make up you are all down to earth dont ramble on get to the point even have a laugh at yourselves its refreshing an you ladies are great dressers too classy😊
I love that you actually have the body type that you are talking about. I am tired of watching fashion tips from women that would look good no matter what they put on.
Thank you so much. I used to be hourglass, now I’m apple and I’m just beside myself feeling so frumpy and hopeless. You’ve been very encouraging. Thank you 😊
AT LAST! I’m struggling with menopause tummy and just hate that I look 7months pregnant ALL THE TIME! 😭 great video and so many great ideas 😃 Could you possibly lower the camera angle a tad please though, so we can see the whole top/ outfit? New subscriber ☝🏻🥰
Thank you so much! My mum has not been comfortable with the shape of her body for a long time and has been struggling with her clothes. This video will help her know she's not the only one feeling like this and that there's a solution 💓
I'm SO happy to have found your channel! I'm in my 60s and it's been a little hard to come to terms with the changes in my body! Your tips and suggestions are just wonderful!
Thank you for the tips. I’ve been struggling since developing severe osteoporosis. I always had great muscle tone in my abs and now that I lost so much height, I developed a belly. I’m so self conscious.
It’s so true, it isn’t about weight. Except for a very few lucky women, most of us just thicken around the middle during peri-menopause and menopause. The hormone changes alter where the body tends to store its fat. Even after a 60-lb. weight loss, my waist-to-hip ratio didn’t change at all, everything else got smaller, just as my waist did. It irks me that doctors say a certain ratio is “bad’; short of major surgery, there’s really nothing that can be done about it, and I haven’t found evidence that waist and tummy reduction surgery provides any health benefit, either. I try to stay active, keep my BMI in the normal range, forget about my imperfections and be happy! If any women feels like she’s the only one with this issue, I say just look around at other 50-60 year olds, about 95% of us have this, it’s normal. Thanks for addressing this, Maria, we should accept and love our female shapes, and use a few of your tricks!
So wise that you've decided to stop wearing jeans. It's a pet peeve of mine that some women, as they age tend to get a protruding tumming and are flat in the buttock area. This can be overcome by wearing a nicely cut, draped trouser. However, so ladies insist on wearing the jeans that accentuate the flaws. My aunt was very petite but had this problem and I tried hard to convince herbto change her style but you know how obstinate some ladies can be. Thanks for some great tips. Pam
Thank you so much for this video and your advice that whatever body we have is perfect! If only clothes makers made more styles for the 50+ woman. That sudden change in body shape has taken away all my confidence, and any styles that work has been a long tedious journey. You have offered so many ideas here. ❤️💕
So happy I found your channel. I'm 51 years old and since menopause it is really difficult to find styles that will work for me. Thank you for the tips.
Well, we can change our body shape though because the reason it changes is Visceral fat stores up in that area, along with fluid retention, and shortening of every part of our body. It is VERY hard to get rid of but we can if we try hard enough. We do have to change our eating habits, exercise and stretch. I hated the way my body changed during menopause so I started working on changing it back. Very hard indeed! I appreciate your video ❤
Thank you so much for your tips. I especially like using a small rubber band to adjust a boxy top. That works so well for me because I have relatively small bust and that one adjustment helps accentuates my bust while disguising my larger stomach and hips. It is just magic!
Wonderful, thank you! After treatment for a gynecological cancer, I came out alive, but postmenopausal overnight when I was still about 10 years away from having to think about menopause before I got sick. Changes in my body have caused me to struggle. I am going to try some of these ideas and I am feeling very encouraged!
Thank you from us bunch of apples out there!! I would love to see you model your suggestions so we can see how they look off the hanger, if you're comfortable with doing that :)
Thank you so much for your video. I have been hunting on CZcams trying to find someone that actually knew what to do with an apple shaped body and you are the first one that actually touched reality.
I love the buckle idea. I’ve been using mini rubber bands for a long-time, because sometimes I’ll fall in love with a print, fabric or color on a “swing” top or dress, which are unflattering, shapeless tents, but with the rubber bands, they can be re-shaped. But, the buckle can add a real accent, can’t wait to get some!
Love all the tips, I have been doing the rubber band trick for years, but I used it on the side. I love the way you used it on the tee in the middle it gave the tee a new look. I will try that next. Thank you for sharing this way of making a tee look so different. Made the tee more dressy. You give the best tips ever! Have a blessed weekend.
Thank you so much for your tips! I especially LOVE the one with the rubber band on the t-shirt! Besides giving me a bust it hangs the tee over my tummy! Amazing! Thank you! 😀
The advice on tops/blouses is well-done! The suggestions aren't too outrageous and look to work very well. Many other CZcams stylists get a little too weird in their suggestions and seem to have 'drunk the kool-aid' in terms of having gaslit themselves into perceptions of how things appear when theory of how it looks is not supported by how things look to those not taught how to perceive appearance. One other trick to add to the ones provided in this video is what I call 'the waist-area poof'. This is a matter of using a thin belt or simply tucking in the blouse hem into the trouser or skirt waistband, but pulling the blouse fabric 2 or 3 inches out above the constraint, to poof out falling over and hiding the waistband. Basically, you are making a muffin-top with the blouse that masks your problem area beneath, because the effect is to hide the belly-rise. The rising curve of the belly, front-on or in silhouette, is what draws attention to it. Masking it with fabric flouncing provided feminine curve and style while hiding the belly. And you don't have to worry if others have been taught the theory of how to perceive appearances. I'm not ready to give up on jeans. There is the problem with jeans (as is the problem with ALL pants/trousers) of how huge the expanse of material covering one's backside appears unless one hides it with dusters, long cardigans, or tunics. One thing I heard from a stylist that actually seems to work is how thick denim can serve as a kind of shapeform across the belly, cinching it in and flattening any tendency to protrude. This adds to that slimming line of an open outer cardigan or unbuttoned blouse over an undershirt. I believe it comes down to the fit of the particular jean. You need one that swallows and hides the muffin-top, one that restrains the belly. Ordinarily belts are bad ideas because they draw attention to the problem area, but a small discrete belt with the buckle resting directly at the furthest reach/rise of the belly will help restrain and flatten it. This would be essential for lighter-weight fabrics used in upscale trousers.
What a wonderful video, glad I've found you! A lady for the over 50s who knows what she's talking about!I am just about getting into jeans and smaller but longline tops, but I am definitely going to move onto trousers and bigger tops soon. I have moved from an Hourglass to an Apple shape! Xxx
I recently bought a black, linen romper ( overalls) to help conceal my belly, and ad comfort. It is really quite cute , bought on Amazon. My mother liked so much, I getting another one. :) I don't feel it is " too young " for me, though it is casual.
Try 24/7 jeans - they're organic cotton with a bit of stretch - not tight; just a bit of 'give', and it stops them going baggy. They're quite high waisted too. Lots of shades and leg widths and lengths. They're around £24 a pair. I gave up wearing jeans 25 years ago, but I've got a few pairs now - lol.
I am sooo happy that I found your channel. It is so wonderful to see someone with our own shape. I am a menopausal mother of 6 and I earned my apple body. I sacrificed eating a keto diet for over 5 years. Now, I just want to be happy with who I am and come to a place of acceptance. You are helping do that. Thank you!!!
Great tips Maria. Love your videos ❤️. Have actually lost 2 stone recently so have got my waist back! Will try the elastic band and buckle trick on the waist area to see if that works. Would love some more tips for showing off the waist area. I don't always suit belts as I'm petite and they tend to cut me in half!!
I liked all of your ideas. I intend to get back to sewing my clothes, and I liked that you had solutions for the trouble areas. I especially liked how the flat front pants are made. I got a kick out of the rubber band trick and I'm about to try it. Fun video, you are very pleasant and easy to follow. Oh and I love your hairstyle and color, I keep pondering bangs!
A lovely vlog thank you. I too have given up on jeans for several reasons and now find Sosander jeggins are really comfortable if you want that skinny Jean look without the pain. I think that not having your clothes too tight is the way to go and possibly even visiting a tailor to get a really nice fit but with plenty of ease. Love the elastic band t shirt trick. X
LOL, first I love the buckle. I still have most of mine from the 80's! I am now over 50 and not only have I dealt with menopause. I have been dealing with a very rare genetic disorder that makes anything tight on my body unbearable! So bra's, jean's, anything with narrow elastic around the body has been removed from my wardrobe! As for shoes, anything over 1" heel is to high! I'm starting to hunch over now too. I'm only 5'2 now. 😭 I love your videos! Your energy and honesty is so refreshing! Thank you for making these videos 🤗
I do like to wear jeans but find the best ones for me are pull up. Another good fit are maternity jeans, which have a large stretch band around the top.
Thank you for this lovely show. It was well done and I did get some good ideas. I am 75 but still wear clothes! It tickles me that things are always for women mostly 50s etc. We are here too... I find nothing worse than older women trying to look 30! Thank you for the tips for T-shirts and the little buckle. I will try that. Coming from skinny legs, big tummy and normal saggy boobs.
I have discovered UniQlo pull up Jeggings. They come in black, navy and a light denim colour. These are almost all I wear these days and paired with tops and blouses, plus jackets I am quite happy with how I look. I put on weight with medication for rheumatoid arthritis, and boobs are enormous but not much I can do with that. I also believe that some makeup, lipstick and at least mascara one present quite well.
You have provided some very nice wardrobe ideas and tips here. I especially like the elastic in the t shirt to create a gathered effect. Also, I like the variety of tops you have shown and also like the navy pendant necklace you are wearing as it visually slims the appearance too. Great tips !! thank you.
IAt last I have found someone with a real body. I was so skinny until the menopause at 40years. I am 72 years old and still hoping to diet my middle rolypoly middle away. It is here to stay. Relax and enjoy life. Your tips are really useful. I can't wear belts so dress to suit my shape, it has taken years of learning and I am there at last. A nice wardrobe of clothes that all suit me. I will keep watching. Many thanks
Great video. My shape is similar to yours so I found this very helpful. I gave up on jeans in my 30s, I was still slim then, but never found them comfortable. T-shirt trick I will have to try. Thanks. Subbed!
I just found your channel today. Thank you for addressing my big worry about how to dress now that I have developed a tummy (I'm 61). You have great ideas that I know I can achieve. And I also love your cheerfulness and beautiful smile. Can't wait to learn more fashion ideas.
I’m 64 I love my jeans. They have a shape to suit anyone at Torrid. Don’t u think jeans offer great support for a giggly tummy, couldn’t live without them. Some of your other tips were excellent I’m running for my rubber bands.
Saw video this afternoon after buying 3 Christmas tops that hang way down below my big belly. I always pull the top to one side and tie it with a tiny hair elastic and then tuck it under. I was so shocked to see the “buckle.” I went straight to Amazon and ordered an assortment pack. Can’t wait to get them. Thanks so much.
I turn 60 in two days.... and this video has been life changing. NO MORE JEANS!! Thank goodness! I have very serious health issues that require that I take steroids daily. This medication has completely changed the shape of my body and face. So, this year, since I'm turning 60, I decided to give my closet a makeover. Buying only clothes that I feel great in! I have ended up with tops that are quite large because I must fit my bust area... so I just ordered a set of buckles from Amazon. The rubber band trick is AMAZING!! I still have thinner legs, so I like to make them the feature of my outfits.... and the bucklers with help with that! Thank you so much for this videos. NEW subscriber!
Oh this, was very helpful thank you so much. I am in a wheelchair and finding clothes that work well in a wheelchair is very difficult, specially with an apple shape, do you have any ideas for apple shape wheelchair users?
I’m at the point where I have all but given up jeans. I have 4 pairs of high waisted jeans that fit & are comfortable. No muffin top. However, I have no plans of buying more. I keep them for cold weather when my usual pants don’t keep me warm enough. Most of my wardrobe is lightweight, for a warm climate, because my husband & I now live in a tropical climate.
For years, it seemed to me that the retail stores only carried "low-rise" jeans..then they finally realized that the world is made up of women, each unique with various body types. It was with extreme relief when I went into a clothing departments and finally found jeans that I love. I'm 63 and high rise/stretchy jeans are my go-to! They're super comfortable and come in all shades of jean colours, they can be straight leg, wide leg, skinny leg, cropped...I'm a "jean girl"...whether I'm doing chores inside or outdoors, sitting on my deck, enjoying family time or at work ...I am comfortable.😀
Im definitely going to try the rubber band trick and pull out a pretty scarf. I have several n8ce ones i bought at an airport boutique but ive never used them
You always look great in the style you choose for your body shape. I am an apple shape, short waisted and my bust is a D cup but looks small. I hope I can successfully implement your tips in a more flattering look. Thank you!
I have always found jeans very uncomfortable, long before menopause and long before becoming an apple. I have missed the pants from the 60s and 70s that (very sensibly) had the zipper on the side. 😉 Thanks very much for the great video!
I have always hated jeans and I'm sorry to say they look awful on older women I feel the same about men older men wearing t shirts with slogans on just don't do it there are better things you can wear
Since menopause, I’m the same measurement at bust, AND waist (both 100cm), then bigger again at hips (117cm). And short to boot. I cannot work out which shape I am. Not apple (because they have good legs). Couldn’t be a pear because they don’t have the “not pregnant belly”. nothing I Google, is finding me, my current body shape. I used to be an hourglass, until a few years ago, have zero clue how to dress now. So depressing, no clue what t9 do now. I like how you speak on video. Not too fast, friendly and kind.
I am glad I found your channel, you are very interesting and doing very good work. Can I ask you maybe sometimes to show names of brands and to show more pictures in clothes..
I haven't even watched the video yet but I'm excited! I'm so tired of trying to find style suggestions only to find a size 0 person trying to show me how to hide my fupa!

Thank you!
I was watching another video by a very skinny CZcamsr who had to put a small pillow under her shirt before demonstrating how to disguise a belly🙄
@@dublinjazz1 😂 oh my!
Thank you so much. I used to be hourglass, now I’m apple and I’m just beside myself feeling so frumpy and hopeless. You’ve been very encouraging. Thank you 😊
Thank you I’m so pleased I could help 😀
...my story

Thank you I hope your mum finds it useful 😊
I'm SO happy to have found your channel! I'm in my 60s and it's been a little hard to come to terms with the changes in my body! Your tips and suggestions are just wonderful!
Thank you 😊
P
I no longer wear jeans either.
FINALLY found someone who truly has nailed my body type. Thank you so very much!
Thank you for the tips. I’ve been struggling since developing severe osteoporosis. I always had great muscle tone in my abs and now that I lost so much height, I developed a belly. I’m so self conscious.
I’m so sorry to hear that. I hope this helps a little. Remember to draw the eye to the bits you aren’t self conscious about with colour or detail 😘

Go low carb
RED tee with rubber band great look.🎉
How lovely to find someone who is happy to address this area of our bodies and thankyou for the great tips . Subscribed 💐
Thank you so much for this video and your advice that whatever body we have is perfect! If only clothes makers made more styles for the 50+ woman. I need to try
Greetings from Barcelona (Spain)! I'm 70 and after covid lockdown I have big troubles with my tummy. Thank you for your tips!!!
Love all the tips, I have been doing the rubber band trick for years, but I used it on the side. I love the way you used it on the tee in the middle it gave the tee a new look. I will try that next. This is great! You are literally the first person who has addressed my concerns about clothes. I will look at your website as well.
Thank you so much for your tips! I especially LOVE the one with the rubber band on the t-shirt! Besides giving me a bust it hangs the tee over my tummy! Amazing! Thank you! 😀

I KNOW YOU WANT TO HELP US...
BUT, YOUR ACCENT MADE ME CRAZY TO UNDERSTAND! GOOD LUCK.!!
I’m so happy to have found your channel because I also had an hour glass shape.
I like your tips but would like to see what the garments you are showing look like on form the front and the side

Maria,
Great tips ! I think that my favorite is the rubber band inside the tee shirt trick ! Super idea to add interest to a plain tee !
It’s so simple but effective isn’t it 😀
Impressed! First time I found your channel. Brilliantly presentation! I hooked!

I do like to wear jeans but find the best ones for me are pull up. Another good fit are maternity jeans, which have a large stretch band around the top.
Flattering, elegant clothes... Love the style... Very helpful for women of 50+and above. Sending you warm sunshine from Athens Greece.
Thank you 😊

I agree. Draw the eye elsewhere and a pretty lipstick is always a good option 😊
Thank you so much for this. I'm so depressed over my watermelon that found itself to my middrift area.
Lol I can relate to the water melon!
I'm depressed about it too I hear 👂 you
Me too.
My watermelon grew when I got to 70. I was fat already but in proportion … now 😱😱😱
😄
Thanks for the tips. I recently figured out that no matter how much weight I lose, I'm now an apple! ♥️
Yes weight gets distributed differently as we get older I have accepted that I no longer have a waist but we can still make the most of what we have 😊
You have provided some very nice wardrobe ideas and tips here. I especially like the elastic in the t shirt to create a gathered effect. Also, I like the variety of tops you have shown and also like the navy pendant necklace you are wearing as it visually slims the appearance too. Great tips !! thank you.

Brilliant, really helpful video Maria..thank you!
Glad you liked it Val. I hope you are well xx
Thanks. Subbed!
Great idea with the buckle in the tee shirt for shaping.
Thank you 😊
I just found your channel today.
Really refreshing advice. Love the tip on the shirt buckle.
On the jeans bit I’m a size 16 with a tummy and have found mens levi jeans are very flattering the shape sort of skims over your tummy
Your so right I hate jeans now!
👍 I just don’t find them comfortable anymore
I Agree with you about jeans
Saw video this afternoon after buying 3 Christmas tops that hang way down below my big belly. I always pull the top to one side and tie it with a tiny hair elastic and then tuck it under.
I was so shocked to see the “buckle.” I went straight to Amazon and ordered an assortment pack. Can’t wait to get them. Thanks so much.
I love love love that tip
I’m so pleased you found it useful 🤗
Watching from New Zealand. You are so lovely 🌹 Thank you for these great tips.
Thanks for watching!
I agree, I’ve given up jeans too. Never actually been able to wear them. Really great, doable ideas here. Thx for sharing. 👏🇦🇺
Great tips!! Thank you so much.
A good pair of jeans for over 50 yrs are DG2 jeans by Diane Gilman
I love to wear jeans! I prefer a low rise so they fit a little below the waist line.
Im definitely going to try the rubber band trick and pull out a pretty scarf. I have several n8ce ones i bought at an airport boutique but ive never used them
Scarves are great for a bit if concealing and worn long to lengthen the body 👍
Girlie, thank you so much!
Described my recent experience with jeans perfectly. 😂
I am 36 and I loved the advice, I've had 2 kids and my body has changed so much. Thank you!

I make my clothes..and these are great tips
You always look great in the style you choose for your body shape. I am an apple shape, short waisted and my bust is a D cup but looks small. I hope I can successfully implement your tips in a more flattering look. Thank you!
Thank you. Keep trying on at home and mixing pieces up until you find looks you like then take pictures so you remember them 😀

Excellent 👍
Wow! Thanks you have really help me with this unique way to add style to my clothing❤🤗
I’m so pleased it helped you 😊
I have always found jeans very uncomfortable, long before menopause and long before becoming an apple. I have missed the pants from the 60s and 70s that (very sensibly) had the zipper on the side. 😉
Thanks very much for the great video!
Yes those side zips are great as you get a nice flat front 😀
I have always hated jeans and I'm sorry to say they look awful on older women I feel the same about men older men wearing t shirts with slogans on just don't do it there are better things you can wear
Giving up biscuits & bread and more fibre worked for me.
Loved this video another problem I have is what type of comfortable shoes to wear with dresses that look stylish
I wear mostly flats now or a low block heel. If you look for an slightly pointed or oval toe it lengthens the leg more than a round toe 😀
Thanks so very much for your wonderful and great tips! I certainly will use every single one of them!👗🧥👖Yours truly, Julie
Thank you Julie
Thank you 😊 I will take your comments on board 👍

Glad you like them!
