I remember something you said way back referring to shops selling dowdy clothes for oldies - "would your daughter wear it? If the answer is no then leave it in the shop". Excellent advice then, and now.
I cannot wear crew necks ever. I’m 70 now and finally get it! I just splurged on a couple of air essentials type sweatshirts that are v neck. I love them ! Thanks for the video. Also, thanks for bringing up the word “trend” . I go the opposite way and look at what people my age are wearing and what looks best for me.
Great advice, as usual! I needed someone to tell me to stop wearing my old work clothes.😊 Your suggestions give me ideas how to look stylish for my age, not frumpy. We all get ruts!
Getting a neck/face lift was the best thing I did for wearing fashionable clothes again. I missed wearing the crew neck, necklaces, turtlenecks. If you’re thinking about it, DO IT! It added a fresh look at 70!
I definitely agree with structure. I like stiff, thicker fabrics and/or tailored clothes. Outfits that could be described as 'sharp'. I can't do flowy or drapey. It just hangs on me, doesn't give me any shape and shows all my 'lumps and bumps'.
Another fab video! These days if I find an errant crew neck tee in my stash (I've got a fair few tee's) I cut the neck out and wash the tee this makes the material curl onto itself so no sewing either! This makes the neckline lower by about 4-5 inches it really does work 🤗
I know you mean well but food for thought: Every time we are told to try to look younger, the message is that it's bad to be old. Depressing. Why does everything have to be anti-aging? I don't like looking old either but is that because I'm a product of modern western society and I've been brainwashed?
For my part I want the brands to take more notice of us and cater for us properly. I don’t want to dress how they want me to. If that makes sense. I feel they dress me like my grandmother . I want to look my age which is contemporary.
@@Myover50fashionlife I wear what I like. I love your channel. I just wish we could reverse the fear of aging and start seeing things like "how to look older" as if aging were something we could be proud of. I know this will never happen though because humans are wired to be attracted to youth and beauty.
@bmindful1888 this is about looking our age not the older version certain shops want us to look. We are vibrant relevant and youthful and deserve to be treated as such. Let’s look 69 if we’re 69 and you probably are but others need confidence to be a contemporary 69.
@@Myover50fashionlife I agree that it's about feeling great about yourself at any age. The goal is not to look "younger". We all know that we can't really fool anyone and why should we care. Growing older truly is a privilege and there is nothing wrong with wanting to look great at any age and in any physical condition we find ourselves in. Looking stylish can make us feel vibrant and more alive and give us more confidence and energy and there is nothing negative about that! Let's look great for ourselves and put our beautiful at any age message out there into the world.😃
I live in the California desert. It’s very hot ,over 100° every day. The only thing I can wear is a dress I can’t stand wearing anything else when it’s that hot. I’ve got some really great light cotton dresses and they are up-to-date.😊🇺🇸
Thank you for this, it is very useful. I think the advice about structure is important. Badly-fitting clothes don’t look good on anyone, but particularly on older people; it can look like they just don’t care about their appearance any more. Some people actually say they are “past all that,” which I really hate to hear. (No, it is not comfy, it is baggy!) I am in my 60s, but I don’t think is is just about age, more about attitude. I hope I never get to that stage. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry at the matching sets with tacky, plastic necklaces. Whoever thought that was a good idea? I have a few pieces of good gold jewellery, notjing blingy or showy, that I can wear with most things. I also have a few pieces of costume jewellery with big enough stones (non-precious) to make them statement pieces, but there is not a drop of plastic in sight. On the othr hand, some of the local charity shops have lots of plastic jewellery - I can only suppose someone bought the sets with the shower-curtain patterns and donated the “jewellery” for children to buy for dressing up!
That is an adorable shirt. Thanks for the reminder about shoes as I am guilty of this. I have a wide foot so shoes are hard to find. No excuse although it takes more work.
I know I need to wear a v neckline because of my larger bust etc. I always used to but now my skin is so crepey on my neck and chest making that impossible. I’ve still not found a solution to help me look both elongated and younger so I stick with crew necks which don’t look great. I’m 66 😢
All good advice as usual, thank you so much, I worry about beige though, I can't seem to get it right without looking 'beige, boring and old' if you know what I mean🤔😊
Find your neutral and it could be navy or use a non neutral as your base like pink. Beige can be difficult but it it may be you need a cool light brown like me. I can’t wear many beiges either. I look yellow and sallow.
@@Myover50fashionlife I love navy and wear it a lot, but my face does light up when I've got a light colour like beige near it, but it's a struggle not to look frumpy☺. Colours like light blue drain it. I'll try your suggestions, maybe pink or tan, thank you 😊😊

plain brights 😊
We want to look our age, but . . . We want to look GREAT for our age!
Yes, that's exactly it.
💯
So very true

Yes I did say that and its true
Older people on my area were very light clothes with gray hair. Makes them look invisible
Ooohh! I love embroidered jeans and have several pair. I do love boho and I am an artist. Can’t give them up!
That's your style so works totally for you . Sounds like it blends with your whole personality .

Some excellent tips that I haven't heard on the other CZcams channels for us "women of a certain age"! Thank you!
You are so welcome!
Finally, such great information for mature ladies! I have watched some of your videos. I’m a new subscriber as of today! Keep up the good work! 😊
Confession of the country fair purchase! Big improvement over the previous ones. Great content today. Thank you!
Haha, you remember my discarded country fair purchases of frumpdom :)

Blouses shirts fab
Brown is a bad alternative to black for light skinned ladies, it´s associated with "old", burgundy or marine blue are much better.
Good video Anna
Thank you
Feet and ankles don't age ..I disagree

so prretty
Beige beige beige awful except trousers not tops horrid all beige
Perhaps your intense dislike of beige is due to your own coloring. My skin tone is on the darker, olive side and beige is one of my go-to neutrals.
Round neck high neck awful strangling yourself with those not flattering unless size 8all over the body tee shirts for the young
Beige, brown and camel...No thanks.
Colours are also a good option as alternatives to black. I love pink as an option
Think you should stop wearing your shirt as to many people wear all the time
