A warm welcome from Wiebe Wieling, Chairman KFPS
This Stallion Inspection marks the first official event in my capacity as new Chairman of the KFPS. And this is not just any event. Within a few weeks all tickets were sold out, with our own members having the first choice. The enormous interest for the Friesian horse is reflected in the Friesian Proms, with seats for both evenings occupied down to the last one.
Presently, the momentum for our Friesian horse is very good. A horse with a unique presence, a fantastic personality and the special gift to stir emotions in people. We breeders and owners have known this for a long time, but now the world around us - literally in over 80 countries - is also discovering the talents of the Friesian breed, not in the least because they are more and more prominently manifesting themselves in the sport.
During the Stallion Inspection everything comes together. With thanks of course to all entrants Jury members, volunteers and not to forget our sponsors. They are the ones who turn these wonderful days into a memorable event even before it has started. The involvement, emotion and the (worldwide) enthusiasm. It is a great event for meeting each other, exchanging knowledge and experiences and above all for enjoying fantastic horse, Friesian horses, our Friesian horses!

Rewatched this video upon news of Jasper's death. This horse left such a monumental impact on the Friesian breed, and dare I say the equine world as a whole. It's an impact that will stand the test of time, for sure.

Horses CAN live to be over 50. I've spent many hours on a horse over 30. I've ridden horses that were over 40 as well, and still quite strong, healthy, and quick moving. Not every horse is like that, but 25 just really isn't OLD for a horse. I'd say that it's about equivalent to 40 in human years.
Move like that at 25? My goodness girl, you don’t know much about horses.

Gone back to this after hearing about poor Uniek's passing. Jasper was the complete showman and loved to show his paces. He didn't need the close control that other stallions did.
Jasper is grand sire to my mare and gelding. What a contribution he has made to the Friesian breed!!! Such beauty and refinement. Thanks boy and enjoy your well deserved retirement 🖤🖤🖤

They really are beautiful horses (the stallions). I wonder how much the individual stallion’s temperament affects how desirable he is as a stud. It also saddens me a bit to see all the fuss about the ‘sires’ and not a word about the mares (who do all the work and assume all the risk of gestation and birthing). Thank you Yvonne for showing us that side of the equation (the protective, nurturing mares and the inquisitive, playful foals)! 💛
Anyone that breeds knows the value of a solid broodmare. I think this was just to showcase the boys. I'm sure his daughters are just as valued.
A stallion can sire dozens of foals each year but a mare only one or occasionally two, so a single outstanding stud has more impact on the breed than a single mare. But you’re right that without good mares, the stallions wouldn’t be able to accomplish much! 😂y

What a wonderful tribute to an amazing Stallion. Its easy to see who his offspring are because they are amazing too, and Jasper looked as young as his sons. Thank you for posting.

So glad he is getting retired, he has so much life ahead of him to enjoy! My horseback riding teacher had a mare that was 1/2 Friesian, 1/4 Quarter Horse and 1/4 Tennessee Walker named Midnight that lived to be 41 years old.

probably don't want him in a field with girlfriends, he's a stud and you can't tell him "you can look but you can't touch."
in a field with a few geldings perhaps. horses are herd animals and are more healthy mentally with companions. sometimes even a goat!

Seeing Jasper strut out there reminded me of the first time I saw a Friesian horse. It was in that movie Ladyhawk, with the beautiful woman who turns into a hawk by day, and the man who becomes a wolf at night. Rutger Hauer rode on a friesian and I was shook. I have loved them the most ever since.

Gentle, effortless, joy and yet amazing strength... you can just see it in the way he moves.
He is absolutely magnificent, that mane is to die for. That was incredible to see 5 generations in the one arena and one of his great great grandsons is here in Australia. I hope his home is safe from these ravaging fires. Thank you for sharing ❣️

I just got to see this and what a beautiful animal at 25 years old. His greatness didn't pass on into Eefje but that doesn't mean anything because sometimes the breeding doesn't show in the first generation of foals in some mares but just check to see what kind of foal Eefje had because that may be the generation that will get those accolades. I would keep track of her just for the heck of it but I'm sure you had already done so before your accident. I'm sure you will enjoy Queen Uniek as she is because you love her. I'm so glad you bought her so you could make sure she never leaves the place she was born. You've always taken good care of all the horses at Stal G. And now you own not only Queen Uniek but Rising Star as well, who is a beautiful horse as well. God bless you Yvonne and as always, the best to you and yours!

@2:57min...as a percussionist I felt the heartbeat of Jasper as he strutted his stuff for the last time! It was as if his cadence of his stride was choreographed to that drumbeat! I had to pause ⏸ the video because I had a knot in my throat and a tear 😢 in my eye! I 💘 automatically drum my fingers to a sick beat like that and it gets even more 🔋 🏴 🔌 powerful 😤 😎 when you add the ethos a proud Friesian 👏 🙌 👍 Stallion like Jasper to the scenario! And we see a "snapshot" of his bloodline/pedigree all the way from where he entered it as a Sire to some of the greatest Friesian Stallions of the breed!!!

Marian Van Meter I’m sure he will! By the look of it, when he 1st came prancing out, he seemed to be aware all attention was on him & he was enjoying himself. He knows just how Amazing & glorious he is; I think that just like us, certain animals love to be in front of a crowd & to show off what they are capable of. Secretariat or “Big Red” as he was known, was the same way. His owner & others who knew him said that when he was at the race track & the press showed up @ started taking pictures his whole demeanor changed; Reds ears would go forward, nostrils would flare, he’d stand up as tall as he could & his body would almost swell up chest out & he’d look straight at the people & cameras. It’s like he was saying “Look at me, I’m a champion, I’m the horse of the hour & Im gonna show you how great I am” lol This majestic King of Friesians was doing the exact same thing & seemed to soak up his last time in the spotlight. Hope he’s enjoying retirement, he deserves it!!😊♥️♥️🐴
yes, I think horses are very much aware of human emotion and the best horse rider combinations have great empathy for one-another. Look at the best dressage horses of the last few years and most of them have better senses than a trained guide dog.
Minka Valiant: Not true. Horses have the ability to be affectionate with humans. A lot of horses love the attention that humans give them and have very affectionate personalities. If you love on them and are gentle, they will want to cuddle with you all day.
