Finland is fun when you don't have depression 🇫🇮
Fr (i’m from Finland) :D
Finland is actually an awesome place inhabited by awesome people. If they decide to speak - you should listen. They love nature, everything they decide to do will be done well, huge metalworking industry (for the size of the country), they're very well armed privately and as a state, very well educated, they're some of the best road drivers in the world and some of the best racing drivers are Finns, their point of view on life is almost philosophy. It just shows that in those forests, saunas and near those lakes they've spent a good amount of time thinking. Honestly every nation in the world could use some influence from them. As for drinking, it's something everyone knows, but I haven't seen a drunk Finn myself.
I'd like to agree, but alcoholism and xenophobia are sadly wildly popular pastimes here. I guess you might not see the less favourable side of Finland unless you spend extended amounts of time here and really get to know some locals.
@@jormakivesXenophobia or racism is human nature.

I would like to clarify as a finnish, that we mostly get all of our alcohol from Estonia. In the capitals harbour there is a place called Superalko. Alko is a liquor store in finland but in Estonia it is a super one. Very cheap there and you can buy spirit at the age of 18.
only reason estonia exists is finnish alcohol money
Thank you dude you just made my day 😂 as someone who currently lives in Estonia but has a lot of friends in Finland this was the best video I saw this week
Little correction: You can buy spirits in Finland from the age 20. The percentage limit is 22%, so you can buy only alcohol that's 0-22% when you're 18-20.
You not only get information wrong, but you also diss Karjalanpiirakka... This means war

GeoPolds videos are rushed af, only watching this because wow_mao will never make a video about us. He's too busy with the Balkans.
Good to also point out that 18 year olds can buy spirits in bars, just not directly from a store. Most likely because bars can monitor the drinking a bit and they don't trust 18 year olds to be responsible on their own.
As a Latvian, I can confirm that Finland is not Latvian but Estonian 👍

Estonia really is just Finland 2: Electric Boogaloo. The Finnish anthem actually shares the same melody as the Estonian anthem! The only differences between the two anthems are their key signature and the repetition of the last four lines of each verse in the Finnish anthem. Estonia's anthem is called Mu isamaa, mu õnn ja rõõm (My Fatherland, My Happiness and Joy) and its lyrics were written by Johann Voldemar Jannsen in 1869. It was first adopted in 1920, relinquished in 1940, and readopted in 1990. The Finnish anthem was written by Johan Ludvig Runeberg, originally in SWEDISH! It was adopted in 1917 but was originally performed and written in 1848 for the 500th anniversary of Porvoo where Johan lived. GERMAN immigrant Frederik Pacius composed the melody!
When it comes to military and political history together, during the Estonian War of Independence in the late 1910s, Finnish volunteers went to help them win their independence. In the 1930s, Estonia engaged in secret military co-operation with Finland against the threat of the Soviets. And when Estonia was trying to join the EU in 2002, Finland fully backed them! In turn, Estonia was a big supporter of Finland's NATO membership.
Thanks for the input, supreme leader Kim Jong Un
Gotta say I've always felt like Estonia as the little sibling of Finland (only for the size). Always loved hearing eesti spoken and stroke fun conversations with estonians. Zero bad experiences and cheap booze❤️

Something to point out about Finland in Sweden's favor is that the smallest region of the country is a group of islands called Åland and there, Swedish is the ONLY official language! It is also the only part of Finland that has a special autonomous region status and has a much higher degree of autonomy than the others with its own Parliament and local laws. It even shares a strange land border with Sweden on the island of Märket. Originally it was just split in half but when the Finnish side built a lighthouse on the Swedish side (though it wasn't formally), it resulted in an adjusted inverted S border in 1985 to still equally split. Their flag is neat too as it is a Swedish flag defaced with a red cross, with the red cross symbolizing Finland.
When Finland obtained independence from Russia in 1917, many Ålanders feared they would lose their Swedish culture and language which led to the native population starting a movement to unite with Sweden. This led to Finland, Sweden, and Russia appealing to the League of Nations, who decided in favor of Ålander autonomy (and this autonomy was reaffirmed when Finland joined the EU). Starting in the early 1920s, Åland unofficially used a blue and yellow three-striped flag (two blue stripes, one yellow) until it was banned in 1935 by the Finnish government. In 1952, new laws gave Åland the right to make its own flag, which it adopted in 1954.

You forgot at the language part, the interesting relationship Finnish and Estonian languages have. Almost all the words are the same, or sound familiar. But we won't understand like a single sentence from the other language. The words are same or similar, but they mean completely different things and are placed completely differently. First time hearing the other language as a native speaker of the different one, you think they had a stroke.

"Can't go into pubs or clubs if you're under the age of 20"?????? The age limit is 18 to get into those places! Maybe you mixed it up with the "legal age for buying stronger alcoholic beverages" which only applies outside of bars and clubs.
