I'm a big fan of your Sci-fi theme. I've been following you for a long time, and I'm happy to see that you're paying more and more attention to this topic by adding more and more items. Yes, I understand that everyone prefers Medieval themes, but it is very refreshing to see other themes. Thank you very much for filling this gap.
No problem. As I mention at the end of the vid... I'm hoping to get some sci-fi stuff to the table soon myself (fingers crossed)... and my gaming habits often influence the stuff that appears on the channel :)
Love the Sci fi stuff. I know it's different than the norm, but it is so handy to have somewhere I can go for quick easy terrain without having to paint for 2 weeks. My favorite items so far are the beds and the hypersleep chambers. Anything you can make like that I am all for. Some ideas might be, standing turrets (guns someone could get behind) alternate colors on your computer screens (maybe a blue version and a red version. If I understood photoshop I could do that myself, but I dont get it.) And perhaps some pilot chairs/consoles or some random ship parts like engines, batteries, deflector shields, radar dishes, etc. I love what you're doing, fantasy and sci fi. I've only recently gotten into paper terrain because of the speed and ease of use. You don't get enough credit. Love your channel!
I think for the next sci-fi set I'm going to do a few mundane items (like tables and chairs) - you can actually see a few ideas here (back when I was working on the bunks & lockers prototypes): i.imgur.com/0Ava5X8.jpg And yeah - some random 'mechanical/technical gubbins' are on the to-do list (i.e. things that aren't really meant to be anything in particular - just things that could be put on the table and the GM says - that there - that powers the stasis tubes, or that's the main part of the air recycling system, or that's the transmogrification 5000 unit, and so on :) ).
Hi Kris, I'm a big medieval D&D player, but who doesn't love a occasional sci-fi one or mini-shot? I've already ran a 6 session story "Dominion of the Illithids" and used your sci-fi terrain. The players, who are also traditional medieval D&D players, loved your pieces in helping with their immersion. All your stuff is great!
Your technique of gluing paper textures to simple shapes to create modular terrain has totally changed how I make (and store - so much less storage needed!) my terrain. I primarily play sci-fi skirmish games with my brother, and I appreciate all of the work you put in to making this terrain - although I sometimes feel I have regressed to playing with blocks again as I get older.
I love your sci fi stuff! I use it more than fantasy stuff because it fits so many genre's in one way or another. Great Job. Looking forward to incorporating this stuff into my already made tiles. Thanks!!!
Love your videos. You have a remarkable talent for not only creating great-looking and functional terrain, but for providing instructions for us to create them ourselves. Please keep them coming.
This sci-fi terrain looks absolutely stunning. And the final layout shot at the end has sparked all kinds of ideas - not just for terrain and layouts but actual game mechanics too. Brilliant work. Keep it coming!
Glad you like it! As I mention in the video, it can move around a bit if you don't have a way of fixing it down/together somehow - but I'm pretty pleased with how it's shaping up :)
This looks so awesome, I am so glad you're on the sci-fi bits now. I hope you have plenty more ideas in your head. As for the accessory pieces, yes please, it's always good to have options and variety.
Thanks. There's lots of thing that I still want to add (I think I might have shared a few pic's of some of those ideas in a few places)... but it's the usual problem of so much to do, so little time :) (I'll get there eventually though).
Yes, please, I, for one, would like to see more of the "fiddly" details to dress up the scene. This is a great video. But I'm stil looking for those extra hours in the day to make all the neat ideas you've given me. Thank you very much for all of your work.
No probs. At least these a quicker to make than regular terrain... so there is that I suppose :) (with regard to there not being enough hours in the day :) ).
Thanks so much for the scifi tiles. There are very few quality scifi tiles out there, that your series fills a huge gap that would otherwise be left empty. Please keep it up!
Omg I didn’t know you made Sci fi walls !! I absolutely love these !! Thank You so much for sharing and please yes the little monitor coming off the wall is a fantastic touch and would love to have those fine detail bits !
I have recently been getting into Core Space and plan to use your designs to supplement the Battle Systems terrain used for that game. Thanks for all the effort.
I absolutely love the Sci-Fi stuff, keep it up! An the little pieces of set dressing always give an environment more life, I encourage you to experiment!
It's always good to have variation. The whole way through your build demonstration, I was thinking of the extra fiddly bits that would help flesh out the walls, as well as how to use the set to lay out a ship or colony buildings for Traveller or something of the like!
Amazing!! I really love your sci-fi ones. Just got to me, either I missed it (and didn't find it) or you've never made a dimensional portal before. It could be a nice addition! ;)
There's a small magic door/portal in the 'dungeon' range - but nothing in the sci-fi range yet I'm afraid (if you meant something like a stargate for example?)
@@CrookedStaffTerrain I haven't thought about a Stargate-like one, I would be amazing!!! (Even if I wouldn't have any current use for the game I'm running now, it is very cool see the designs you came up with!!). You do have a magic portal door (special doorways episode), but I was thinking more about something as "a floating crack on space and reality".
Thanks. Welcome aboard :) Note that I've separated all the sci-fi stuff out into one playlist (if, for example, you don't have much interest in the fantasy/dungeon stuff): czcams.com/play/PLkOQEK8e056vUUJg2MBRiTSe9byIXcb9I.html
@@CrookedStaffTerrain Thanks Kris, I'm working my way through it now. I've a real buzz going on about your stuff. I think I know what I'm going to be doing for the next few days!
I've been collecting some tray style boxes from work. They are different sizes and were for selling individually packaged snack cakes. My idea was to decorate the insides of them to make them look like sci-fi interiors. Then flip them over to make them look like the exteriors of sci-fi buildings. Ones that could be stacked to make taller buildings. The end goal being that I could either set up a sci-fi city/base and have a more outdoor scenario. And still have some playable interiors that could be flipped over for use. I'd been planning on just using thin packaging material card stock(like cereal boxes) to make the raised details and then paint them. But I think I could use the printouts you have here to make what I need. Or at least most of it. I was thinking of using them for Stargrave, kill team, Judge Dredd, and maybe some sort of homebrew version of Space Hulk since I don't actually own a copy of it.
Sounds like a plan 🙂👍 (I'll probably do something similar myself eventually - like I've done in the various 'dungeons in a box' episodes). Anyway - I hope it goes well if you do try it out!
I'm hoping that this weekend I'll just get in a co-op game of 5 Parsecs Bug Hunt (fingers crossed) - so, if it happens, I'll try to remember to take some pic's and post them over on Discord.
