The wagons are so beautiful! I love the different roof colours and the added details like the steps. Also the little lantern on the front. Here’s hoping for boats! 😉
Just wow! It's not enough for you to make a cart that rivals expensive resin models, but you actually create pieces such that one can make any number of carts of a multitude of sizes and designs! A truly masterful effort!
Glad you liked 'em (and yeah - I really did want to try and make it so that we can make a few different varieties - rather than just the one design :) ).
@@CrookedStaffTerrain One question: are the floor pattern pdf's supposed to be printed in a particular size of paper? I've found that some have different sized squares and thought that may be why. Normally, it wouldn't be a problem, but I was thinking of combining some of the styles.
@@anthraxousAll the dungeon tiles* should be 1" square when you print them at 100% on either letter or A4 paper (i.e. you don't want any of the 'fit to page' options enabled). However things like the bases for the doors etc. will be a bit smaller - to give a bit of clearance (so as to not catch on the walls when you add/remove them from play). (*the only ones that are not, are the ones for the 2D solo/co-op set - as they were designed differently for that specific use - so they should be treated as a separate thing)
@@CrookedStaffTerrain Well, I don't print them myself, so I guess the person who prints them sometimes forget to keep it "unadjusted" or something. I need a printer 😂. Anyway, thank you oh, so very much for everything, my guy. You rock.
Just bought it at drivethrurpg and now the printer is running wild😃 I love your all of your stuff👍🏼 Keep going on with your ideas. I think you‘re one of the best designers within the world of tabletop and rpg games.
I've seen a bit of the work in progress, but you still amaze me. I mean, the details, working out which type of cardboard goes for which, colouring etc. Great job, mate!
This was well worth the wait! I’ll be making some wagons for my next campaign very soon! I like the variability of the wagons. I feel like they should be easy to make different sizes. Thanks again!
I'll definitely make a few wagons eventually, but I'm looking to mage a Goblin Mincer for Kings of War. It's basically a wagon with a big drill in front. Just need to figure out a goid way to make drill for the front. The rest is wagon and pipes.
These are lovely. I've been putting my carts together using tongue depressors, which are a pain to cut. Thanks so much for the tutorial, very much appreciated.
I like all of your stuff, Kris. +1 for the wheels that are trying to escape. Tip for everyong: If you are super cheap (like I am) you can mod Kris's parts and textures in a graphics editing program (GIMP is free) so you don't print any textures that you don't see.
Glad to hear it! (thanks :) ). Edit: GIMP is great for that kind of thing - here's an old blog post I made for anyone that is interested in that kind of thing: www.crookedstaff.co.uk/2019/04/printing-exactly-what-you-need.html
It's not super difficult (though I do have slender fingers - so that helps I suppose). Another option (which I forgot to mention😅) is that you don't have to cut off the upright 'posts' on the sides of the textures - folks can utilise those instead (you can see what I mean a bit better on the little handcart in the background of the final pic).
Awesome video as always, I would try to add a nail on the wheel, pass it through the straw and add inside the end of the nail a steel washer so it doesn't get out, such as to make the wheels moveable.
I'm going to have to get me a ink subscription... But once I'm all set I'll be making a ton of your stuff ... As it will be more portable and if something breaks, easier to fix.
I feel like the top not being removable is a missed opportunity since you have so much space inside and you are just covering up the planks. Awesome work though!
Folks can certainly do that if they like (just print the page out twice, and glue the textures to both sides before gluing it together :) ). Simple locators could then be added to the inside of the roof (or toothpicks to slide inside the wall corrugation).
For regular papercraft stuff I totally agree - however I like the added thickness that you get from chipboard/greyboard or corrugated card (as what I do isn't true papercraft... or 'proper' hand-crafting... it's a weird mix of the two :) ). Thinner paper is also better for the 'wrapping' parts of the assembly. However, for the quickest build time I think printing on sticky-back label paper is a good option - as it's kind of the best of both worlds - you can print it out, and stick it on whatever you like, with no mess and zero drying time. It is a bit more expensive though.
@@robot7759The music in the background is a bit more up-tempo (so that might be having an effect) - but, like I say, if it is a bit quicker, it wasn't an intentional decision 😅
I found your videos, and showed them to my GM. He's now addicted to your terrain style, and is building like mad.
Thanks for sharing the vid's (that's always appreciated!)
Such beautiful work, and so accesible for people on a budget or with little time/skill to paint, love all you do !!!

Realistic and splendid carts/wagons, thanks for sharing!

Another brilliant creation!
Wow... that's awesome.
Thanks for the video! These carts and wagons are looking great!

This really is top notch, man. Love em!

they look like they belong with the miniatures themselves, very good design
Thanks. Glad you think so :)
Again very nice models. The Intermodelbau will take place again in Dortmund in April. I hope to be able to build some of your models by then.

Maybe you could find a cheap countersink drill bit?
@@CrookedStaffTerrain I was thinking more like scaling down a HOLLOW EARTH EXPEDITION EARTH DRILL FDG0034 paper model for the drill section

I was just building some wagons. While I am using a different technique, I did incorporate one idea from this.

Nice Builds! The only thing I would do differently is painting the toothpicks for the cart instead of trying to wrap paper around something so small.

You can probably find some seated people in model train shops. Get some flat cap 19th century models and paint them to your style?
I think I'd prefer something more medieval looking if possible 🤔
Most printers can print directly onto quite thick cardstock. Your cart builders could avoid having to laminate parts so much by doing that.
For regular papercraft stuff I totally agree - however I like the added thickness that you get from chipboard/greyboard or corrugated card (as what I do isn't true papercraft... or 'proper' hand-crafting... it's a weird mix of the two :) ). Those look absolutely fantastic. BUT, I do have one question . . . no yokes? 🤦♂😁
I figured they'd just get in the way (especially since folks will likely be using models of different sizes anyway).
@@CrookedStaffTerrain And you want me to accept that excuse!? 😲🤦♂
Well, they are awesome wagons/carts, sooo , , , okay.😉
