- In this episode I'll be making some bunks and lockers to add to the near-future/sci-fi range.

Yay Sci-Fi!!!
😁
Sci-fi party! Those look awesome!
Thanks 🥳 Glad you like 'em 🙂
Thanks for the video! SciFi bits seem a natural addition to your catalog.
They're not as popular - but that doesn't stop me making them from time to time :)
Great stuff as always! Glad to be hearing from you again 😃
Thanks (for some reason the sci-fi stuff always takes me longer to do - hence the long gap between videos 🤷♂)
I've done medieval themes and an Illithid sci-fi theme campaign... My group loves your stuff I've made. I look so forward to your videos Kris!!!
Glad to hear both you and your players are having fun with some of this stuff!
Silly idea: instead of scoring on the textured side with a blade 2:25, you can use a pin to transfer the marks to the other side of the cardboard, then with a pen make a deep scratch connecting the holes, this will allow you to fold along the line without damage the print.
Might be worth a try for future builds 🙂👍
I use a nail fail to scratch from behind. Thin cardboard bends easily enough. A little score just makes it easier to move along certain lines.
Looks absolutely fantastic!
:) Thanks!
Nice to see some Sci-Fi terrain again Kris.
Yeah... now I just need to actually use them at some point 😅
Awesome!!! These are great!!
Thanks 🙂👍
Great stuff!
:) Thanks :)
Those turned out really good looking! A great video. Interested to see what you add to it in the next video.
Thanks (hopefully the next video/pdf won't take quite so long to put together :) ).
Love the new scifi opening theme.
It's pretty much the same as the others - a bit cheezy - but I kinda like it :)
WOO! Electric Staff Sci-Fi Terrain :p
Amazing 😮 👏👏👏
YESSSS SCIFI. Just modern would be great too!
I don't really have any plans to play/run games set in the 'modern' world - so that kind of terrain hasn't made it on the to-do list I'm afraid (at least not at the moment).
Very nice. I like there are more than one door texture; one could texture both sides, for a door standing straight out. Great designs, all around
Yeah, that should work nicely!
They look great! Any additions to the sci fi stuff is appreciated.
Thanks (and no probs).
I really like the lockers and I think that they could be used in a lot of different settings. The addition of the posters was a great idea, I love the little touches you add for variety.
Thanks... the posters aren't great looking - but I should probably post some close-ups over on discord so folks can read what they say :)
I am personally a more Fantasy type of guy - but must admit, these look awesome!
As am I... but I keep meaning to give sci-fi more of a chance (I've actually got the new Traveller RPG on order at the FLGS :) ).
@@CrookedStaffTerrain I'm still using Traveller 2nd ed.
Makes me want to pick up SW5e, start the party out with a stripped, junk freighter and allow them to make upgrades etc.. you want more crew ya gotta buy more bunks!
lol.
(I've actually got the 2022 Traveller RPG on order myself, and am going to have a read though that when I get my hands on it)
I used to play the old WotC Star Wars miniatures game and there were all sorts of print and build terrain out there on the net.
. I never even once thought about gluing anything to foam or heavy card. LOL. Great presentation. These are awesome.
Glad you liked 'em :)
Nice looking sci-fi terrain!
Thanks!
Awesome, need to get building these👍😁
Hope it goes well!
These look great! Been needing more sci-fi terrain for the Alien RPG and Cyberpunk.
Glad to have helped!
Yay!!
😊
This video was definitely worth the wait. I will have to make some of these for the Star Saga map!
Glad you think so :) :) :)
I have to dig out some old paper sci fi props that I designed years ago.
Awesome work!
Feel free to post pics on the discord or the facebook page if you do!
Yes more sci-fi terrain, perfect for my grimdark future firefight games.
As it turns out, the four mini's that appear at the end of the video... I can make them into a 250pt force for GFF :)
@@CrookedStaffTerrain awesome.
Sci-Fi isn't really my genre, but the techniques are invaluable. 🍻
Thanks for watching all the same!
Kris, this turned out even better than I thought. Not surprised since you create very cool textures.
What if we glue the bottom bunk first? may be easier to add the top one second.
Love the open locker option. Great as usual.
Yeah, you're probably right about sticking the bottom one on first (the reason I did it the way I did was because, sometimes, you might need to add a bit of extra glue to the bottom if the bed hasn't stuck down right - so I liked to have the bottom accessible).
For the bunks, gluing the bottom bunk in first and then wrapping the top bunk over the brackets might be easier. Instead of having to awkwardly thread the lower bunk between the top one and the brackets, you could just start at the bottom and drop the top one in place with a bit of glue on it.
The bunk with a computer is somewhat more complicated for angles but I imagine wrapping it over the top of of a bunk that's already been secured might still be simpler and more efficient effort-wise... if only by a few seconds... but hey, when you have to make 50 of something, a few seconds can save an hour.
I think you're probably right.
The reason I did it this way was largely because, on some of my early prototypes, if I didn't use enough glue (or didn't put the glue in exactly the right place) I'd need access to the bottom of the beds to add more glue (so putting the top one in first made more sense).
But after a couple of builds I got the hang of it, and (as you saw in the video) it became less of an issue.
Really nice looking thingies, mate. Almost makes me wanna do some sci-fi gaming. Almost... :O)
Same here (I've even got a sci-fi RPG on order at the FLGS :) ).
Ben using alt mushroom and tentacle textures for generic sci fi flora and "generic" pods. Just throwing that out there.
Using unisystem for sci-fi. Mostly all flesh must be eating. This stuff works great for alien esq zombie games. Also I wonder I'd this could be done with old school doom textures.
I think someone over on the Discord has made a few things with video game textures (can't remember if it was doom or not).
@@CrookedStaffTerrain nice. I'll pop over.
awesome! very good! Does anyone know of something similar but for a zombie apocalypse?
Have you done beds for the fantasy setting? Or just the cots I found. Although I do like you are doing Sci-fi stuff as well.
Like these you mean: czcams.com/video/S48xCzUhzVU/video.html :)
I know you do only little sci-fi stuff, and little 6mm things, but what about combining the two?
Just maybe adding a few modern or futuristic looking cities to you hexes, with perhaps a refinery or a mech bay as details.
With the recent kickstarter for Battletech, GW releasing the modern version of Adeptus Mechanicus with regular expansions, and Modiphius acquiring the IP for Weaseltech, there could be a bit of interest in that.
Unfortunately, I'm not really playing any of those games at the moment... and I generally build stuff for things I need (or plan to use) in the future (I tend to 'work' better if I'm eager to make the terrain in question).
However, I did make some regular papercraft sci-fi buildings for 10mm mini's some time ago (which could probably be shrunk down a little bit to make them more suited to 6mm). You can find them here if you want to take a look at them: www.drivethrurpg.com/product/103482/Zone-10--Basic-Set-10mm-terrain
@@CrookedStaffTerrain i don't know how I could have missed those while browsing your shop. Thanks, these will be useful! 👍
@@CrookedStaffTerrain Just picked it up. It's very well made, i didn't expect that level of modularity in a papercraft project. Thanks for putting it together!
@@worthstream No probs (hope it works well for what you want to use it for :) ).
Do you have any different colored potion bottles. Like red , blue maybe purple?
I don't sorry. However I wrote a blog article a while back showing how you can change the colours of the pdfs just using free software.
You can find it here if you want to give it a go: www.crookedstaff.co.uk/2019/03/altering-colours-of-my-textures.html
