Yeah... I could also make the basic tiles themselves look a bit better with some directional lighting/shadows on the artwork too - but that makes things look a bit 'off' when you have to rotate them (if that makes sense). So I have to stick to shadows on things like the stairs (or walls that can only be assembles one way) - but like you say, that also has a nice effect :)
LOVE the stairs. I did many of your print outs for my Final fantasy crystal chronicles ttrpg game, and they loved how the tiles looked in the haunted inn dungeon, and didnt take up too much room on the table. Especially the ruined floorboards. oh man if only I thought of making the stairs 3d like this, it woulda been funny to have part of the rickety stars be detachable for when they broke them going up them hahaha Awesome work! Cant wait to see more~
Nice to see the 'dungeon build along' series back again Kris. I've been following your channel since episode 1 of your print & paste series. I have made a few bits; but due to health problems and space constrictions, not too many. Hopefully that may improve this year (health and space), and I should at least get the 3 follow along projects done. Keep the videos coming as they have been very interesting watching, whilst convalescing. Very well thought out! 🦇
It was that time of year again - and the 'build along' is becoming a bit of a new-year tradition :) Sorry to hear about your ill health though (fingers crossed that 2024 will be a bit better)... and good luck with the builds if you do get around to doing them 🙂👍
While I do use different materials for some of my other videos/ranges... as you can probably tell - I like to keep 'the dungeon' to cardboard (where I can) - because, like you say, it's the easiest/cheapest thing to get hold of :)
Looking forward to this season/level. Plenty of different textures, and the reuse of older parts is what makes this system great. How did your mega dungeon go last year?
The Dungeon23 thing? ...if so, I only kept at it for a month (I talk a little bit about it and other stuff in my latest blog post): www.crookedstaff.co.uk/2023/12/out-with-old-2023-and-in-with-new-2024.html
It's the simple things like the shadows on the flagstones for the stairs that make everything just pop.

... and here we go!
Thank you very much for that! Hope you enjoy this new series!!!
Happy new year Kris. So glad that you've returned to the build along series with level 3.
Happy new year to you too. I'm not sure if there'll be a level 4... but I had to do level 3 because of the 'stairs down' in the last season :)
All your videos are great Kris, but I LOVE these dungeon build-a-longs!!! Has a sense of community and sense of accomplishment!❤ Happy New Year!!!!
Thanks for the kind words (speaking of 'community' stuff - I will definitely have to run another community challenge/build this year).
I’m very excited to see this series in a new season! I’m looking forward to some free time to sit down and make this.
Here's hoping it won't disappoint 😅
Oooooh nice way to start a new year thx Kris 👍
:) no probs :)
Can’t wait for this!!! Thanks for all your hard work.
No problem (hope it will be worth the wait).

Glad you liked them. The next part should be out next Monday... so there's not long to wait :)
Fantastic. I'm a foam and multiple material crafter but yours are just perfect. Simple, beautiful and excellently set up. Thank you.
No probs (even though this project is gonna be mostly cardboard - there might still be a few ideas that are transferable).

Great stuff, as always! 😊
Perfect way to start 2024!! Happy new year to you and your loved ones! 🎉
Thanks. Hope you have a good 2024 yourself!
Happy New Year!
And to you!
What a great way to start the new year. Thank you so much for the video.
No probs. Glad you enjoyed it :)
So. Many. Curves! Curves are hard! I think you're a wizard! Looks good, though.
Patience and a sharp blade is key :)
Awesome. Still haven’t done season 2 yet. Need to finish the graveyard first
Well, the videos aren't going anywhere - so there's no rush :) :) :)
HAPPY NEW YEARRRRRRR
And the same to you!
Best wishes for 2024 to all.
Indeed! (here's hoping it's a good one).
Cool ⚔
Thanks for the video! Looks like the start of a great year!
No probs. Here's hoping 2024 will be a good year! (for the channel... for gaming... and for folks in general).
WOW love your video, because you use cardboard as a dungeon tile. easy to get material

Woot!
Those stairs are beautiful!
@@keithunger8441 Glad you like 'em (they're not too difficult to make either - which is always a bonus :) ).

@@CrookedStaffTerrain I'll have to have a look at the blog. I always thought it was a huge commitment for anyone who attempted it.
Ta-da! Only three thousand, four hundred, twenty-seven levels to go! Mwahahahahahahahahaha! 😈
If you've discovered the secret of immortality, and are willing to pass it on, then sure... I'm game :) :) :)
