    Nice tutor. I was Inspired and I have found another way for waves with GN Wave Texture and got control over waves direction. I got pleasure. )

    Theres way more simple path to achieve this, wave texture node have diagonal setting in drop down.

    How did you shade the cubes separately, it just skips and there two colours?

      i think Set materical node can do this

      Put Set Material node after each Scale Instances, before Join Geometry. Make 2 materials and set each to a different one. You can see it in the screengrab towards the end.
