  • Where should you aim your serve in singles and why? This is a very complicated topic so I do my best to answer this in the most general way. Are you aiming your serve during singles play? Let me know in the comments down below!

Maybe next show how to serve these three spots on both deuce and ad side? Thanks.

Great video! Is there a serve strategy against players who can read your serve because you have played against them many times in doubles?

John probably has a better answer but in doubles unless the receivers have clear weaknesses you want to hit most of your serves up the middle so as to bring the net player into play.

At the pro level, despite commentators constantly pushing the body serve, T and wide are significantly more effective. If I remember correctly, one has to make well over 80% of body serves to win as many points as serving 60% to targets. At the rec level most people drop well below 60% serving to targets and expose a weak 2nd serve. People need to test themselves to see how many serves they make or ideally chart a few matches. For example, my regular opponent is a good chip and charge guy so even though my preference is to hit targets I tend to serve body a lot to try to minimize 2nd serves. Ideally, I’d up the percentages going to targets and be more aggressive on the second serve but pinched nerves limit my serving practice reps.

Don't commentators mean that you should mix in the body serve more, not that you should mostly hit body serves.
And the effectiveness of the body serve heavily depends on who you're playing against, how far they stand back and also how big you can serve.

@@tijgertjekonijnwordopgegeten Ask Serena, she virtually never hit a body serve. On the other hand Nadal had more success with body serves than most because he’s left handed and can afford to start points from neutral.
