  • In 1916 the Russians would launch a summer offensive to support the British and French efforts on the Western front.
    General Alexei Brusilov made a radical new plan that would prevent the element of surprise being lost.

      @Roughman Dude, you don't know much about Russian history. The Bolshevik propaganda destroyed the troops morale after, not before February 1917. In February 1917, Russian troops on the frontline were quite firm. It was the rear units, the city garrisons, that had low morale and rose in a revolt. But the situation at the front was still managable. It was the revolution, with the "democratization of the army", that followed, that destroyed the Russian Army.

    • @jekabsojarsulskis9740
      @jekabsojarsulskis9740 Před 4 lety +15

      @Roughman as a latvian, whose Fatherland was the battlegrounds of ww1, the Eastern front, I know troops didn't leave their posts so willingly. They were holding half of Latvia with the Latvian Riflemen holding the germans back from advancing deep in the Empire. Germans were alright with holding their captured teritory that had rescources and no one was trying much to take it back after The Febuary revolution. A bit of a pickle in Russia during that time. So the germans didn't take the teritory so easily with the Russian army troops abandaning their posts.

It might not have said that but this is just an example. I saw casualties and army strength numbers change from time to time on Wikipedia.

      @@faurtracstv715 "bloody communists", said the monarchist, who would prefer to own slaves. Can u imagine that? In 20 century, Russian nobility had slaves! When other countries was in progress, doing new inventions, searching, Russia was in medieval century! And peasants, workers hadn't any rights, nobility and tsar thought that it ridiculous and no way to do it. They hadn't rights to study, what am talking about, they even hadn't own soil! Of course communists aren't angels, but remember - Russian monarchy killed a WAY more than all the communist (dictatorships, actually, but it other long discussion) regimes, what ever exist. Commies at least guaranteed some rights and gave ways to be successful, to have fucking own house, and made ussr the great power, from fucking peasantry to nuclear country
