Hello Nigel, how on earth did I miss this one which I stumbled upon. Probably, the best one I have seen on organising your raw images. With some marvellous tips as well. So thank you very much as this vlog really got to the Heart of Lightroom...
This video has just enlightened me to whole array of things I am now going to do in my Lightroom, everyday is definitely a school day!!
Thanks Nigel
Makes it all crystal clear! Thank you Nigel, very helpful stuff!
I've been trying to find my own workflow system for a couple of years, and I keep tweaking it, so by now it is not very uniform. So your video is perfect for me right now (January 2019) to start out the new year with a simple, quarterly filing system. I also learned a lot about your rating process which I think will help me become much more efficient during my first sort through the images after a shoot. I am now capturing more multiple images (several frames per second) and I have many more images to delete. Also, you've inspired me to create a few of my own presets for developing and exporting. I have been doing the same things over and over, so I look forward to becoming even more efficient. Your presentation style is calm, professional, and concise. THANK YOU Nigel!
Very useful, thank you for the insights into your process Nigel
Absolutely brilliant. I have thousands of photos from numerous journeys and I’ve been stalling on how to sort and cull. Love the idea of printing a contact sheet.
Again, informative and, so, I began taking notes. My Lightroom work is moderately organised but you provide some extra tips I need. Thanks!
Just found this, thank you soooo much! Exactly what I was looking for. Export presets based on different use case scenarios in a Year structured folder. Genius!!!
I'm about to improve my filestructure/workflow and i was struggling to find the one that suits me best. Thanks to your video i just found the missing piece of the puzzle :) Thank you, Nigel and all the best.
Thanks Nigel. Great tips in there. Always look forward to your video coming out.
Thanks Nigel, really useful video. Only 6 months or so into my Lightroom journey and going to stick with it, so this will no doubt be invaluable in years to come!
Thank you for the idea of creating the Contact Sheets! It really sounds brilliant. I am going to try it out.
Great video on how you handel the pictures! It gave me a lot of inspiration and ideas on how to make my handling better and easyer. Many Thanks!!!!
A few good tips in the video Nigel. There is so much in LR still to learn, thanks for sharing. Looking forward to your next post, next location and of course the pictures.
Such a helpful video. My workflow has improved so much now. Thank you Nigel.
Terrific video... It's always interesting to hear how other photographers execute their work-flow... Love your vids and your photography, keep up the great work!
Nigel, I know this video is old but I am just now seeing it. New to Lightroom and have been trying to learn and this is by far the best video I have seen! Thank you for doing it and for explaining things to clearly! I imagine I will watch it over and over as I try to organize my Lightroom photos.
cant tell you how many articles/videos I've poured over on this topic and this one makes complete sense . New to channel and subscribed.....excellent and many thanks
Extremely relevant video from a photographers standpoint. Thanks again for sharing your detailed thoughts on this.
Brilliant Nigel, thank you for taking the time to make the video. This is an area that I never really understood for many years and I ended up in a mess with files and folders.....until now. Thank you.
Brilliant. Thank you! I have to admit, I've always been so focused on Develop, even after some 14,000 photos edited, that I haven't ever clicked out of Develop over to "Map". I've always just geo-tagged in Flickr when I upload, or assumed it was going to be super complicated through a sync device. I have to admit, super embarassed. Mind blown. Thank you. THIS is why these types of tutorial videos are brilliant.
Just what I needed! Thanks so much for sharing this information!
Thanks!
Amazingly useful insights on a LR subject seldom examined!
This The Best Video On Importing and Initial Workflow video - thank you!
thanks for shearing this very resourceful workflow video. Nice one!
Perfect! Thanks Nigel, really useful video. Will definitely be changing the way I do things. 👍🏻
Brilliant, Nigel...thanks so much, you have an excellent way of explaining things :)

Great video. Exactly what I needed at this point. Having some struggles managing images between the SD card, processing and storage. Really appreciate the vlog.
Excellent tutorial. Love the buzzy energy.
Thank you so much! I am struggling to find the right workflow. This helps a lot! Thanks!
Thanks :) Exactly what the video promised and really helpful!
I have been a photographer for over 30 years and always just used bridge in Photoshop and folders etc. However this video has given me the knowledge to get more organised. I have seen loads of Lightroom videos on you tube but this one nails it from a photographers prospective, I will watch this on my iPad whilst following it to guide me through the process on my iMac - great stuff Nigel and thanks.
Thanks for the kind words Ian

I'm liking before even watching... that's how much I trust your content! :)
Ha ha - thanks
Awesome vid - subscribed!
Great video Nigel. Must get more organised myself. This has shown me the way to go about it.
Thanks Jim
this video is a god send!
I have a similar workflow. The geo tagging on LR I did not know and I like the idea of separate folders for exports. Thanks always learning 😃
Thanks for sharing some great tips!
Interesting to see other peoples work-flow and organizing. Personally, I organize my catalog by location, cannot remember last month never mind three years ago! Picked up some good tips Neil. Cracking video as usual.
Excellent video. Thank you
my god there is soooo much I still don't know about lightroom.. an incredible video thank you so much! Now I have hours and hours of reorganising to do!!
Great tutorial! Don't know how I missed this one earlier....
Very useful thanks Nigel
So helpful. Thanks!
Love the clear descriptions of each step, Nigel! And one last thing: IMHO, your "3 star" images look like 5-stars to me, dude. Rock on, keep up the fantastic work!
Thanks a lot
Great tips as always.
Great video. It helped me a lot. Thank you.
Hi Nigel, another great vid, thanks! Was good for me to see that I’m not too far off with my own workflow. I guess I’ll follow your suggestion to add geo tags instead of using keywords and organize by shooting location. I merely use dates, which sometimes I find a little hard to find my photos. The new year is a good opportunity to get started with that. I wasn’t aware of the different crop grids, that’s an awesome tip and a big help. Thanks and keep it up in 2018. Looking forward to more videos from you! Cheers
waoo...really fantastic video, accurate and well explained .. I need to improve my LR technique.. thank you
Great content Nigel!
Fantastic video. I really like how you organize by quarter, and I've already set up my 2018 folder that way! I've never used the "stars" method sorting, just "pick", but I can see how it can be useful. Thanks so much for this, really helpful.
Thanks Paula - appreciate the kind words 👍👍👍
Awesome video, thank you so much
Well done Nigel very well explained and the contact sheet is a great way to compare and contrast
Thanks russ
Nice, detailed overview there, Dan and I picked up a few tips. Cheers
We organise in a similar way, I like the Quarterly thing, think I might pinch this for my workflow, a very helpful vlog, thanks a lot. I have a habit of keeping my Raw, Jpgs and Tiffs on different drives, bit of an OCD thing I think, less anyone does it.
Great video, some good nuggets in there 🙌🏻
Very helpful - thanks 🙌
Useful information - thanks!
Hey Nigel. I'm embarrassed to say that I haven't seen any of your videos lately, but I have to say that these have gotten really good since your first few videos. Keep it up, you're going to do really well at this! I'll be watching as you release these from now on. Cheers!
Thank - that is really kind! Appreciate the support and your time watching! 👍👍👍
It is great to see how you process. I think I am going to start 2018 off in a better way. Reduce quality and store better. Thanks for your side
Nice one Nigel..always educational to see others workflow no matter how long we've been doing it...some great tips in there.....and contact sheets !! bloody hell...and to think they were an essential part of my/everyone's black and white DIY film processing/printing workflow ! I might get a "I like contact sheets" t-shirt made up !!
Ha ha! Love it!
Hey Nigel, great and easy to follow video about your image processing workflow. Funny coincidence, I just came back from a Scotland trip and want to get started with editing my shots :)
Excellent! Thanks so much; keep up the wonderful work.
Will do - thanks 👍🙏🏻👊
Thanks ever so much for sharing this! Very helpful!
Thanks Charlene - I appreciate that
Great video Nigel, I use a system similar to the one you describe but found a few tweeks. Thanks for the cropping tip and contact sheet. Excellent thanks again !!!
Thanks James - glad I could help!!!
Thank you very much for another great video. It might be easy for me to find lightroom features however problem is sometimes it takes years to see if your file organizatin plan is practical or not. Thanks to you I now know a very useful and practical plan.
Very useful video. Thank you nigel :)
Great video Nigel - very helpful for us newbies to Lightroom, particularly the organisational aspects. A bit quick but it gives me a lot to work on, and I can pause and go over things again, or research individual bits from what you've said. Enjoy your videos mate so keep em coming. Cheers
Steve, Perth, Western Australia
