You’re the only guy that said, don’t buy my presets, create your own, develop a style. And this is why I love coming back to your videos! You genuinely want us to do better at this stuff, thank you for that!
entirely agree with this and Nigels comments
Couldn’t agree more👍
yes, and because of it I even watch every single commercial on Nigel's channel to hep him gain some cash from youtube ;)
Respect!
Love the new CZcams feature with the chapters to the video, especially for content like this
Your integrity is much appreciated Nigel. So many CZcams photographers are selling Presets now (some for crazy amounts of money) but for you to say you wouldn't buy yours because we should develop our own raises the bar on integrity and trust.
I always figured I was pretty advanced as a Lightroom user but I'd no idea about holding down the shift key to paint in straight lines! I could have saved a lot of time if I'd known that a few years ago. Thank you!!
Thanks Paul
Yes I remember Nick Page saying in a video it's better to create your own presets than buy them. I think he said the only reason to but them would be if there was a style you particularly liked you could then see how it had been put together and tweak it as you liked. Hats off to Nigel.
Some solid tips, the B&W tip you shared at 13:42 also has a similar one working in with colors and control their saturation and luminosity :)
Cheers Mads
Hey Nigel...
Just to let you know that I absolutely LOVE this video. So much so that I keep going back to it, and consider this, as well as a few others, as a reference tool and not just a video!!
I think that this is one of the best you've ever produced! Especially for those of us who are needing, and wanting, to improve our editing skills!
THANKS A MILLION!!
Every time I watch these Lr tips videos from you, I learn so many new things & completely change my editing process!
This one was jam packed! Thanks for sharing, Nigel! 🤙🏽
I’ve been using Lightroom for quite some time and never realised you can fine tune a gradient mask with brushes. You have just changed my future workflow. Thank you!
When it comes to editing your photos, using Lightroom and Photoshop can be a daunting prospect, there's so much you can change and spoil! Tips like these are what we SHOULD know and I will be attempting to remember them in the coming days and weeks! Thank you Nigel
You set a high standard in providing truly useful info to ordinary people who want to create better photos. Much appreciate the digestible explanation of the new color grading. Also, the use of the range mask to change the hue of a specific color--cool stuff.
Fantastic to see you too Nigel! Amazing tips as always!
Thank you for sharing all your knowledge with us. You are one of my favorite CZcams photography vlogger. I keep coming back to your channel.
Thank you Nigel, I'm very new to Lightroom, and must say this helped a lot, as you always do. There are so many things i need to lean with Lightroom...every little bit helps, now ill practice those that you shared today.
Great video and great tips (I good bit I did not know of). Thank you 😊
On the colour grading, you can also click on the top part of the menu to adjust just the shadows (or the mid tones or highlights) and you get just one (bigger) colour wheel as well as sliders for hue and saturation (you can also type in the values (as by any slider)).
Just the video I was looking for this AM. Cheers Buddy
These videos are so helpful! Really appreciate your insights into the new Lightroom features Nigel 👍
Really helpful tips Nigel, especially with the color grading. Thanks for that!!
Super Video Nigel.. Love the Lightroom tips always good to learn something new
Wow, I'm going to save and keep going back to this video for months to come. So helpful, you explain so clearly and in just the right amount of detail. THE best photographer on this platform. Love all your videos. Thank you for all your help.
Great tips Nigel. Really helpful. Thanks for taking the time to share these with us 👍
Thank you for all of your informative videos, Nigel. I look forward to the next one.
Thanks Nigel, really enjoy your Lightroom tutorials, always pick up something new or just something forgotten about
Thank you ND, just getting to grips with Lightroom, so very helpful and perfect timing. Your videos and tutorials give a confidence to me to go and try things out. Now getting so much more out of my photography, thank you.
Excellent tutorial as usual Nigel. I follow every tutorial of yours re. Lightroom. You certainly show us the real details of how to do it and it makes a BIG difference for me. Thank you very much.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge, Nigel. Always enjoy your work.
This was so helpful and graspable. Thank you for sharing these skills!! Also your work is incredible!
Loved this! After watching went straight to lightroom and gave each of the tips ago. So helpful.
You are so real Thank you. I love how you focus on creating your own look .Not over processed bought pre sets. I have learned so much from you .Thank you.
Great tips. I temporarily created collections for all my photos, took ages to sync, but it gave me the ability to use the Sensei search function on my IPad or Android phone. I searched the images for particular details, such as Autumn colour, beaches, waterfalls, different types of flower, birds, wildlife, etc. I saved the resulting searches as separate albums, which are synced back to Lightroom Classic. I then added keywords to these files and wrote them out to the file metadata. I always used keywords in Lightroom Classic, but using Sensei searching has made it much easier to group files in new ways. It is easy to remove false positives from these search albums.
thank you so much for another sunday video. As a long time lightroom user, i still learned a lot from this, especially shortcuts. looking forward to next sunday :) have a great week.
I rarely have time to comment but have to say I found this really engaging and informative. Even as a regular LR user I learned so much. Well done!
After using Lighroom for many years this video gave me some great tips and motivated me finally to organize my presets / brush presets. Thanks for that!
Thanks for those excellent tips! Looking forward to your future outdoor videos.
I absolutely love your style of photography! 💛It's been great to see how you edit your photos in this video, like bringing out the texture in the bark! I'm now off to create some brush presets, what a time-saving tip! Great video!
Awesome - good luck Karla 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you. Enjoy each of your videos. Very helpful.
Always love your processing tips Nigel even how to reset mask been struggling for months and its as simple as double clicking the effects
Thank you Nigel, you and Mark Denny produce the clearest lightroom tutoring, very well done!
Great video, man! Going over the new color grading was very helpful; I had no idea about the “control” and “shift” fine-tuning. Have a great week!
So useful! Amazing tips. Thank you so much Nigel!
Great tips! Syncing between LR at home and LR on mobile is great. Nothing better than arriving at home and already have your "picks" selected and some edits started.
Dear Nigel, Your Videos, Tipps and Tricks are very helpfull. Thanks for sharing !! Much appreciated - All the best Rolf
Hey Nigel, such good comments and great tips. As always much appreciated!
Great tips Nigel! Most of those I was not aware of, especially the eraser, which I think will be very useful in the future.
Brilliant video Nigel. I got so much from this and thanks for being truthful about the presets. Each picture tells a different story so can't always use presets, but as you said they can help you create your own style.
Thank You Nigel. I am new to Lightroom and all your ideas are Super helpful. Cheers from France!
Thanks for the tips Nigel!, always pick up something new from your videos. i'm really enjoying the new split toning presented as colour wheels with mid tones, finding it a lot easier to use. Didn't know about the Shift and Ctrl short cuts, thanks for that! Look forward to hearing about your thoughts on the z7 as I think that might be my next camera move into the Z system next year (currently on a d750).
Nigel - this is absolute gold dust. Thanks so much for sharing... I though I was pretty good at Lightroom but picked up a few new nuggets there!
You are always so straighforward an SO helpful. These Lightroom tips are excellent. Thanks as always.
Very helpful video Nigel. Just sat with my cup of coffee in front of Lightroom trying the tips out now 👍☕️
Great Video! I saved it to watch it again! I'll have to make some brush presets, I didn't know I could. I am not very good at local adjustments, I'm trying to learn more. I just found your channel and have been watching a bunch of your videos, they are very informative. I also like your photos!
Great tips again, I have bookmarked this one to explore further. Thanks for sharing them.
Cheers Nigel, definitely need to try the picker on the black and whites.
yea that was such a wow
Great tips thanks Nigel!
Hi Nigel, I use masks all the time, but missed then trick about using the Erase Brush Tool at the same time to remove the areas, like tops of mountains, you don't want to be effected. Top Tip!
While I'm here, just like to say that my copy of the Vistas arrived yesterday. I have to say after looking at images on screens for so long you forget how impressive the printed page is! You look forward to each turn of the page is and what you might encounter next. I believe we still we need the tactile connection that books have to offer over the backlit world of screens we live in. I have many books on photography and photographers but not many exclusively put together by the photographer themselves. That changed last year when I bought Charlie Waite’s ‘Behind The Photograph’ after attending a talk of his in London. I was sorry to have missed your first edition of Vistas, so was glad when you did a second run. It is truly beautiful. Love the design, layout and typography as well as the stories accompanying the photographs. I am savouring the moments and restricting myself to viewing only a few pages each day at a time to make the experience last
. I was lucky enough to get a commendation from LPOTY this year in the Urban Life category and get the image published in this year’s book. What a great feeling that was, so to have a whole book litho printed professionally in a large volume must be a thrill and fill you with pride. I certainly have been spurred on with my photography after my small achievement. I’ve been following you since your first CZcams vid and watched you and your photography develop. I enjoy all the vids, the tips, and your philosophies, and enjoyed the Nikon webinar you did recently. So keep up the good work and I just want to say thanks to you from me and, on behalf of all your subscribers, for all the great work that you share with us each week.
Take care and stay safe. Cheers, Ray.
Thank you - you always have such wonderful photos and content, delivered by an excellent teacher.
I learn so much from your videos.
this is easily the best Lightroom editing video I’ve seen here. fantastic roundup of useful tools and tips.
Informative video, as usual, a couple of new things for me. Many thanks, Nigel :)
Thank you for all of this. You’ve helped a nervous beginner feel much more confident in what I’m doing and learning.
Another very instructive and helpful video. Thank you Nigel.
Just editing before bed. Super helpful. Thanks for sharing 🙏

Just when I thought I was pretty handy in LR 😆 Really helpful tips, can't wait to try them (auto mask in gradient! 🤗). Excellent & clear presentation as always - I appreciate the chapter shortcuts as well!
Loved the tip about the colour grading wheel 🙏
Fantastically useful. So many of these videos stick to the obvious stuff. Must of this was new to me and really helpful 😀
So simply stated with lots of productive information!
I began photography with film and darkroom and left it with the onset of digital and photoshop. You have taught me that the same techniques I did in the darkroom are those in LR. THANK YOU for bringing me back to photography.
Really found the brush tips on the masking really useful. Will try them on the next edit. Thanks for sharing. 👍
Thanks for this...I just upgraded to Lightroom Classic and I'm determined to organize and file my photos! This really helps l
Brilliant. Didn't know any of those tips, they're going to make a big difference to my processing
very talented Nigel!
Excellent video - learnt so much! Thanks.
Thanks Nigel wonderful video
I'm already amazed by Lightroom, I've been using it since a month now though. And you answered all my questions I had so far, thank you sir.
Nigel, these are some really useful tips, several of which I was unfamiliar with - especially the ability to edit masks.
another great episode and very useful tips
Nigel, in order to see the difference of before and after when brushing or any other effect you can hit that button on the bottom left of that panel left to the Reset button
As usual, so informative. Thank you!
Excellent tips! Thank you Nigel 👍🏻
Another great video, thank you, as a relative newcome to lightroom these tips are a massive help to de-mistify and get the best out of the software...would be great to see you do a video on basic workflow, catalogues etc
Loving the monitor stand!
