- She may have only graced the franchise once, but Sheva almost immediately won over the hearts of gamers and critics with her personality and prowess. This was the hardest character I’ve ever had to do a video on but I was able to scrape together a good bit of information on her.

You also have to give Josh and Jill credit as well, they brought the rocket launchers, warned about Wesker's weakness in the serum, and of course picked up Chris and Sheva from a volcano.

Sheva really is a character that needs more relevance in the series. She is one reason why I've played through 5 so many times.

Many people hate on Sheva because of her AI, which honestly isn't her fault.
Chris has the same AI, but people simply decided to hate on her instead.

Honestly I think Chris's AI is worse. I played the game A LOT both on PS3 and PC back when it was on GFWL, then again on Steam, and every time I replay the game I cycle between both characters, and I always find that Chris is consistently more inept. More specifically, I realized a long time ago that if Sheva has Incendiary grenades, she will use them on groups of enemies quite often, while Chris can barely remember he has them. She's also less dumber when all she has in her inventory is the Stun Rod than Chris is. Although they still do pretty stupid shit equally, like if they happen to have both a handgun and a machinegun, they will give the handgun priority even if they have more machinegun ammo.
I like to shit on Sheva because I don’t play her because I hate the camera angle she gets. At least on the Switch

right?? i love sheva! she's the first badass female character i played in a video game which is really awesome when i was a kid but the only thing that annoyed me is she's gotten sexualised in the game so that kinda ruined it. nevertheless she's one of my favorites 😊

I'd like to believe that Sheva is still in the West Africa Branch of BSAA, keeping watch of everything to make sure there's no viral outbreak in Africa. Since we haven't heard anything from Africa since 2009, I'd say she's doing well over there

She wants revenge for the murder of her village and parents. Even though her main motivation is vengeance she is still kind and able to make friends with Chris and Jill. She isn’t your typical angry out for blood type. She cares for Chris and her teammates, and wants the people of Africa to be free from the virus caused by Umbrella.

I really liked her personality. She was sweet and compassionate and brave and ferocious. Even willing to go down with Wesker, sacrificing her life to save the world.
I was kind of surprised to find out a lot of people didn't like Sheva. She was a better partner and could actually handle herself unlike constantly having to watch out for Ashley in the previous game. I'd like to see Sheva make a return some day.

@@pablosanchez7347 true, but considering that Resident Evil is also infamous for using one character (Carlos, Billy, Jake even our fair lady here Sheva) and "gently" kill them from the next installment is funny when you think about it.
Maybe because Piers is truly one of the few main character that actually dead, makes him quite special than the other "disposable" main characters.

He is meant to remind Chris, and the players, of the original Resident Evil when Chris was also determined and more hopeful in the face of extreme adversity. I like him better than Chris honestly.

Sheva is defintely an attractive character 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 good fighter too. She helped our boy Chris break away from *one* of his darkest moments.

One of the most underrated characters in the series
I was able to beat RE5 by myself but, I never once had any issues with Sheva's AI. I absolutely loved her alot and became my preferred character after beating the game as Chris in my first go. Every other subsequent run was Sheva.

In a normal playthrough is not that bad. The thing is when you play in professional and want to unlock all the achievements. Wesker fight is really hard, because Jill decimates her and you can do nothing about it because you are ocuppied with Wesker.
Finally! My girl Sheva gettin some love. I love Sheva and hope we get more if her. Capcom would make my day if we ever get Sheva back as a protagonist in a game. 🤞🙏

@Quake Guy Re6 is Canon but doesn't deserve the hate as it is a great game to play but don't make go on a long rant as to why resident evil 6 is great and canon to resident evil series.

He was the best secondary character in the entirety of the series. It makes me sad he died. Why couldn't they have had Sheva die in this game?? Like out of the secondary characters only 2 die on screen, him and Steve. Couldn't Capcom at least have given us the satisfaction of seeing Sheva killed (possibly in the most violent and bloody way possible). She should have been infected by Uroboros and should've been a boss to kill instead of Excella. Like she could have turned even uglier than she already was, it would have been awesome. Then for no reason Chris and Jill finish her with two magnum full cylinders after saying "STARS...I'll give you STARS!!" (as people watching from a distant only see them killing a human Sheva, and they were under the influence of a hallucinogen like Cid and thought they were seeing a monster...but it's just her normal ugly appearance. Not saying it would be bad, it'd be even better that way actually and funny too).
@Quake Guy Re4 was a Great Success among fans and divided the Original fans thanks to the 3rd Person Camera Angel. Re5 is Terrible with the AI on both Sheva or Chris Depending on which one you play as in single player after Beating the Campaign Once. Re6 is Great in my opinion and other people's opinions and had a great story to it and doesn't deserve the hate if you don't like it don't come crying to a long time resident evil Fan who loves the Franchise and Knows their Stuff Bout resident evil and 2 don't state your opinion of Resident evil 4,5 and 6 being terrible as only the 5th game is terrible as It's only going to cause an argument from me with evidence to support my point.

Sheva is my favorite female character in the resident evil series. She definitely deserves a return to another resident evil game, and more potential on what she can do instead of being a NPC even if she wasn’t put into the game.

I personally despise her tribal costume, because it's pretty controversial, I mean, it was a walking stereotype, and so were most of the enemies, and the racial stereotypes in the game is one of the reasons why it's one of my least favorite games in the franchise along with 6

The most evasive and nebulous thing I’ve noticed about Sheva is her eye color. From having light brown to sometimes the beautiful golden eyes of Nicole Ari Parker the initial release of Resident Evil 5 with it depending on the costume and the environment lighting. In Resident Evil 5 Remastered on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Steam versions Sheva’s eyes are pale gray with hints of pale blue to a steel gray with unusually high resolution.
Sheva's Red Hood costume is still one of my favorites eye candy
Wesker gets an "up the skirt" shot when he tries to take her down with him when the jet opens mid-flight. That's oddly funny to me for some reason, especially when her cutscene animation for kicking off his grip plays.

Great character, great game, this was my introduction to the franchise, my brother and I were looking for good co-op games and this was probably our favourite around that time.
Every time I think of Sheva, I think of my little sister who I played Co-op with to beat it using her. Look just like her too.

Fact #8 Sheva will only react to Chris positively while idling if Chris helps her out of grabs, thanks Sheva for getting him out of grabs, as well as thanking her for giving him items or when she heals him. doing this enough gives you the "Who Do You Trust?" achievement/trophy, triggering the positive idling. the same is true vice versa if you're playing as Sheva!
Sheva a loyal teammate and has so many moments that make her dynamic with Chris shine as much as ppl moan about re5 story it actually had good character moments with Sheva and Chris like when Jill goes “don’t your trust your partner” or Sheva y”our not going alone” I would love a revelations 4 where Chris Jill Sheva Sheva can come visit Chris as he lives with Jill then Chris can get kidnapped and Sheva attacked so Sheva and Jill team up to save Chris while Chris tries to escape. I feel like Jill should be able to save Chris once Sheva bc we love her and she will do anything for her fallen bothers her and Jill always seemed like they would team up. If Chris got captured I could definitely see them working together and be the perfect sequel to 5

This game is the reason my senior year was so memorable. My best friend and I obsessively played it together, every day after school, beating it on every difficulty together ❤
We need her back soon, I hope her story becomes more fleshed out. Also they took inspiration from RE4 elements and put them in 8, maybe they use some elements from 5 and make it better for Sheva

In addition to Sheva and Link, Mega Man before graphical improvements made him ambidextrous, he always shot his buster with his left hand when moving right on the screen, making him a lefty as well.
Also Sephiroth in Final Fantasy and Nero in Devil May Cry
We need more left handed representation since Link became right handed. Also Link and Mario are left handed because shigeru miyamoto their creator is left handed so that's pretty neat.

The only time I didn't like the AI was when you had to walk through a room of lickers, who respond to running, and the AI always runs.
I asked my gf (now wife) to help me play that part with me. Good times.

I think Nero from the Devil May Cry franchise sort of counts as "left-handed" when he shoots since much of his powers & abilities are in his right hand that he rarely uses unless it's for physical combat.
Nero is pretty much left-handed, not just for shooting but sword fighting as well.

Sheva was one of my favorite characters in the game and a very underrated characters with good story arc and character gameplay, its sad that she never continued on with the game's, but i hope that capcom will bring her back in later games, tho her being lefted handed is cools, it kinda messed with control the aiming when playing as her, and you can't switch the hands.

Resident Evil doesn’t really have “characters” if we’re being open and honest. Most of the “character” is projected by who we want them to be, based on who we want ourselves to be.
They’re written that way, to allow more players to immerse themselves.
It would be very tricky to describe a resident evil character without mentioning their costume, hairstyle, or role in the game. None of those things contribute to “character” and yet they’re often all that separates them from each other almost all of the time.

I like Sheva, to me RE5 is one of the memorable games of the franchise because of how grand it felt and I think has the most epic later parts too all of that helps Sheva being more memorable plus she has a pretty good backstory and the AI isn't as bad if you equip Sheva with a rifle and just herbs but not First Aid Spray .

I forsee Sheva joining later installations, perhaps in Revelations 3 which is actually getting title treatment.
Regardless, Sheva would be the next likely candidate for a European adventure. She's still young enough to train and mentor the next generation in fashion Josh did for her.

little note about #8 there's an affinity meter that builds up when you help, save, and thank the AI character. (The thanks is context sensitive. Just hit "B" or "O" whenever you partner successfully heals, helps, saves, gets a headshot, receive items from them, or performs a follow up melee combo with your melee combo.) When it's high that's when Sheva does the thumbs up. Same goes for Chris if you play as Sheva.

Always played as Sheva in RE5... mainly because I've never been a fan of roid's Chris. That red riding hood costume certainly helped too lol. Please do a vid on Alexia, despite her brief appearance she's always been high up on my favorite RE villains list.
Awesome video! It might not be a popular choice but my friend and I freaking love RE5. We play through it every year, it's our favorite co-op game, besides Monster Hunter. Sheva definitely needs more love, all the recurring characters in this series and some really get left behind.
