- So as a Tomb raider fan, every now and then I’ll notice a reference or easter egg relating to Lara croft, which isn’t too surprising given that she is a gaming icon. I decided to make a video showing every single tomb raider reference I could find!

That grave with Laura's name on it was dated 2003. The year Angel Of Darkness was released...
And the year Classic Lara died. So, pretty fitting.
@@maxsommers6843The classic lara didn't die In angel of darkness she even tells von corey You left me there to die back there in the tomb
@892 I wasn't being literal. AOD was the last game to feature Classic Lara, before Crystal Dynamics took over and soft-rebooted the series with Legend, and then the full rebooted version from 2013-now that we're currently stuck with.
@@maxsommers6843very true! I miss classic Lara
Oh the irony.
2:15 This whole scene is so funny for some reason "Jennifer... a little respect... please" 😂
The Discworld Noir spinoff adventure game had a pastiche of Lara. Who went by the name 'Laredo Cronk'.
Apparently done at the request of the late Sir Terry Pratchett, who was a fan of the games. His daughter incidentally has written for Tomb Raider.
I'm not sure if it's a reference but Julia Chang in Tekken 6 can be customized to look like Lara. Plus her ending in the same game she's climbing on a cliff similar to how Lara was in TR Legend.
Julia's design post Tekken 3 is definitely inspired by Lara.
Her Tekken 6 ending is literally a Tomb Raider tribute, also, her Tekken 4 "jeans" outfit is literally Lara Croft's design, in Angel of Darkness.
In Mortal Kombat Armageddon there were also lots of options for custom characters to looks like Lara Croft.
@@scorpioigorno Julia and Michelle have always been Native American. Nothing in common with TR. Michelle is fighting against the Mishima zaibatsu because they have been destroying the environment
Lara Croft is a video game legend babe, and she still is. It's incredible that how much he she's been commercialized in tvs and magazines. She's a huge celebrity in both video games and outside of video games.
True almost everyone knows who she is.
Uncharted 4. There's basically an entire level where you break into croft manor and find a magazine with lara and the dagger of xian
In the Brazilian Portuguese version of genshin impact we have an achievement called "Nara Croft" (or "Desert Raider" in english), because there are some creatures that call us as "Nara" and we get this achievement after exploring some ruins on the desert
She's in the mobile game Walking Dead Survivors as a usable survivor.
A very small possible reference: In the original 1997 top down Grand Theft Auto, your pager would go off with random gags or hints about side missions. One of the gags was "Lara" asking the protagonist to call her in a pager message in the first Liberty City, level another that may make it more obvious outside of the 1997 context, was possibly the same Lara saying she was off to Peru in either the next level or one of the San Andreas levels.
Glad you caught that “Tomb Wader” one in Crash 3.
Another reference from Hitman would be the Butler from Hitman 2 I think, where if you led him into the freezer, he will reference the Freezer exploit to trap Lara's Butler in there, as Lara's butler is his cousin.
Good work researching all this, I had no idea there was that many references to tomb raider
Other Tomb Raider references in Duke Nukem games:
* On Duke Nukem: Land of the Babes (made by the same people who made Time to Kill), you can call Lara in one of the phones in the first few stages. She says she got an itch 'only Duke could scratch'.
* On Total Meltdown, the first level of the Plug N' Pray episode is loosely based on the Peru levels from the first TR game. You can also find Lara's clothes and bearsuits in a secret room.
Yeah, the name of this stage is bomb raider 😂
That Astérix game is so underrated., I had so much fun playing it
If you are a fan of weird videogame references, play through "Asterix & Obelix XXL 2".
The gameplay might be dated, but there are references everywhere... like the game is covered with this stuff.
You might even not catch some of it on your first playthrough, but it was really great to discover that stuff.
And sometimes, more than games get referenced.
Another reference from the game "murdered soul suspect" they mentioned Lara Croft and the game Tomb raider
Yes!!! I remember the line correctly by a woman wandering on the street and she says “ What’s that game with the women the one who raids tombs”
The character named Laura Cruz is the original name that was gonna be given to Lara in her original creation. She was going to be Columbian initially I believe and was going to be from South America, but they ultimately decided to make her British.
Well originally she was meant to be Male.
@@BlackCroft666 The character was meant to be a woman from the start. Toby Gard created Lara Croft; in an era where strong male characters dominated the genre he wanted to make a strong female lead, and he was motivated by the fact that male gamers often picked female characters in fighting games(Virtua Fighter). However, during development someone associated with Eidos did want to change the character to a male, but Gard was against it.
This is definetely me when i start raiding and i happen to be in a tomb.
On Gex 3 Lara appears in the crowd in one of the boss fights, but it's very hard to spot her
Dude i was watching One of your videos and then the notification for this One popped out! Love this content
In Disc world Noir, a Terry Pratchett inspired point and click game on the PC there is a character called Laredo Cronk who speaks with a British accent and mentions looting crypts.
7:31 "I'm just a surge protector doing my job, sir. Name?"
"Lara Croft."🤣
- Wreck-It Ralph
2:29 That game is quite famous for numerous other video game references, like Roman enemy soldiers resembling Super Mario, Sonic the Hedgehog, Pac-Man and Rayman.😉
I haven't watched yet but I just know Tara from Spyro 3 is gonna be in this.
You missed the most easy one going Discworld Noir is was a game based on the books by Sir Terry Pratchett whose daughter is Rhianna Pratchett who was the lead writer on Tomb Raider (2013) and Rise of the Tomb Raider.
Being a “Tomb Raider” is a real thing. It’s defined as “A person who opens or steals from (ancient) tombs in order to obtain valuable items or antiquities, typically with the intention of selling them”. I think some of the mentions of the term are just that, and not fully connected to the game series.
The Witcher and AC4 ones aren't references. People who would loot tombs to sell trinkets were actually called tomb raiders
In the game Tomb Raider you play as the original character Lara Croft
I did not know that, I may have to check it out lol.
WHAT?!?!?!?! How can you play as her? Is it with a cheat or something?

Lara Croft is a summonable vision and an optional playable character in War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. Known as the Seeker of Forgotten Myth, she serves as a character representative from Tomb Raider.
Also has 2B & 9S from Nier:Automata
2B is a summonable vision and an optional playable character in War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. Known as the Blade of Quiet Volition, she serves as a character representative from Square Enix's video game, NieR:Automata.
In one of the hitman games you can lock a butler in the freezer, the butler comments that the same thing happened to his cousin Winston. Winston is Laura's butler and you can lock him in the freezer in tomb raider 1.
3:00 Fun fact: Laura Cruz was originally going to be the name of Lara Croft in the early development stages of Tomb Raider. (from "Laura" to "Lara" to appeal more to the American audience, and from "Cruz" to "Croft" to better fit her British bloodline)🤔
0:53 i was really wondering what happen to the tomb raider character easter egg.
There's a parody of Lara Croft in an episode of Phineas and Ferb
2:39 When "simping" goes a little too far.😅
In Powerwash Simulator there is a Tomb Raider DLC. U can clean her mansion and obstacle course etc...
In Worms Clan Wars (Worms Battlegrounds on consoles) the story is told by the character Tara Pinkle who is an obvious parody of Lara.
And in the original German dub of the Book of Unwritten Tales games, the character Ivo is voiced by Marion von Stengel who was Lara's German voice actress from 1999 up to 2010. In the first trailer for The Book of Unwritten Tales, the characters are wondering what kind of game this will be and what the gameplay will be like and Ivo makes a lot of references to the classic Tomb Raider gameplay elements, including the handstand. This is also in the English version of the trailer (it was used as the launch trailer in other parts of the world), but instead of "handstand" she just says "acrobatic tricks" and obviously this joke is funnier when it basically comes from Lara herself (or at least her voice actress).
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided has a game box with Tomb Raider Legend on the cover. You can find it in a basement in a big box in Prague. This easter egg might have existed in it's predecessor Deus Ex:Human Revolution.
There's an advertisement poster in Cyberpunk 2077 with what can only be described as Lara Croft abseiling in a cave. I think it's for an energy drink or something. I just thought I'd say it as I've never seen it mentioned anywhere
There is a game called "Blip and Blop" in which Lara is one of the bosses you have to fight. Other bosses are Mario and Sonic.
6:38 That's a pretty cool "anime" design of Lara Croft!😉
I'm not sure if someone's shared it here already but in Evil Genius 2, one of the Henchmen you can get is Clara Jones, a parody of both Clara and Indiana Jones!
In Persona 5 Royal during Futaba’s Palace, Ann will say “that it feels like were raiding her tomb
You just had to XD 01:09
In fairness Tomb Raider was inspired by Indiana Jones.
The loony tunes game Sheepdog n wolf was alternatively called Sheep Raider if that counts? The Simpsons game on DS and other consoles had Lara statues in the museum segments too
You can get Reboot Lara's outfit in for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII as DLC!
Another nice tomb raider reference: the German pop song by the Ärzte "Männer sind Schweine" has the band members fight with Lara croft.
and get their ass kicked xD
There's a DLC outfit of Lara Croft for lightning in Lightning Returns Final Fantasy XIII which was based on the reboot model
Great video Kai, where else can we view a TR reference in Morbis Gravis Druuna followed up by the kid friendly Spyro the dragon?!
Never seen it, but i heard that in one level in Uncharted, Nathan Drake after finding a treasure says "Ah ha" just like Lara does
There's a level in Red Alert 2 Yuri's Revenge called "Tomb Raided"
Also there si reference to her in Baldur´s gate 3, when you get traped by djiny on carnival.
obviously not a reference but, in my town where I live, there is a road called Croft ave and when I drive on it, I always think of Lara Croft
Another awesome video thanks dude 😎👍
I had forgotten how much of a cultural impact tomb raider has been. She's literally an icon.
so is it safe to say Lara Croft is a Final Fantasy character at this point??
Not any more since Square sold the former Eidos company and their IP's
In the game Baldur's Gate II on PC, you meet an NPC in one of the dungeons who says she's an academic, not some "bosomy relic hunter."
The right one on the thumbnail is tomb raider for an modern audience
In "Shin-chan: Me and the Professor on Summer Vacation -The Endless Seven-Day Journey" there are several references to Lara Croft too.
What happened to the king of the hill audio at the end of
You forgot another reference in another Hitman game, Hitman Silent Assassin in Mission 11 Basement Killing you will see the posters of Lara Croft were are the firefighters.
Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII also features a Lara Croft outfit, based on the 2013 survivor reboot trilogy complete with her climbing axe as a weapon
4:00 should be mentioned you find Lara’s outfit in a closet in the dressing room of a strip club, implying she works there. Or that her costume is one of the stripper’s favorite outfits to perform a routine in. Also, I remember when it was in preview demo stages, I read an article in GamePro magazine where the developers pretty much said when they started preliminary planning, first words out of the director’s mouth were “There’s no question about it, we’re making Duke Raider”
Hope your back feels better soon!
I don't remember if it is in that same quest or not, but there is another moment in which Geralt finds a rope tied to an arrow and he says something about a tool for a survivor or something like that.
3:23 She even talks with a British accent, just like Lara herself.😉
Лара Крофт играющая в doom это что-то 😊❤
I mean...the words "tomb raider" aren't always a reference to the games 😂
3:00 And of course Laura Cruz was the character that became Lara Croft!
Chloe said she would be Lara Croft not max 6:15
Not a game but Lara appears in a Totally Spears Episode called "Evil Promotion Much?"
What's your thoughts on the remastered trilogy?
*game says Tomb Raider*
Video: REFERENCE!
I have seen a few of these in my gaming years.
Tomb Raiders have been and still are a real thing. So I feel that just saying tomb raider isn't enough to say its a reference to the game. Tomb Raider as a term existed long before the games came out, and the games are named after it.
While Indiana Jones & The Infernal Machine is obviously a Tomb Raider clone, its kind of fitting seeing as how Tomb Raider ripped off Indiana Jones.
i just said the same thing 🤣🤣
Lightning Returns FFXIII; Lightning's schemeta garb is a DLC outfit of Lara Croft from Tomb Raider 2013 reboot
You know kai 3:50 wombraider is a actual parody film. 😂
Team fortress 2 added several cosmetics and a weapon based on one of the games
Resident 8 with figh vs Dimitrescu have reference to tr2
Shadow Warrior is my favorite one
Would be cool to do a video on other games that Tomb Raider has reference. Like in that one isometric game where Kain and Raziel from the Legacy of Kain games are playable.
2:10 That's quite unrespectful!😠🪦
look its call of dutys and crystal demonics larry craft 2:30 (i didnt know his name was actually going to be larry craft when i was typing it out )
4:55 That's a FAIRY, not a dragon.🤨🧚♀
Thief the Dark Project has a couple of references.
When people talk about Tomb Raiders they don't necessarily mean Lara Croft, as tomb raiding was a thing before that.
In the first Echoes of the Living Demo there is a zombie dressed like Lara!
Thanks for the zero warning of the moaning woman on my max volume phone
lmao
Hello.
I need to know... where do the cinematics at the beginning come from? 🤪🤪
Hey! You watch what you say about The Infernal Machine - that shit was a big, frustrating part of my childhood...
in the resident evil porn parody game, Lewdapocalypse, the main protagonist is named Lara, and sports a tomb raider inspired default outfit
*Lara Croft* is a playable character in *Fortnite*
You can put the Womb Raider to part 2 since it's also a movie parody of Tomb Raider
where can i watch this videos from 0:25 'til 0:4 ... are those edited videos cutscenes ?
Good job 🧡🙏🏼
4:42 UMMM THAT’S NOT….😭
In Astro play room too❤
2:29
No way you just said "AsteriSk" 😅
the term tomb raider is not a reference by itself
I take it you were hit with a copy right strike on King of the Hill, because there's no sound.
