Casual Crono Rambles: Progression in Mobile Games and AE

  • It's rare, but every so often I like to ramble on regarding my thoughts on Another Eden. I realize this doesn't really do anything productive, but I just feel compelled to every now and again.
I gave a lot of thought about progression in mobile games and progression in Another Eden. In nearly every other game I play, I find it's easy to set personal goals and, given time, I can usually accomplish those goals. I discuss Forge of Empires, Epic Seven, and Langrisser Mobile, and how I can set goals and progress with careful planning. In Another Eden, I can set goals, but progression is mainly luck-based compared to the other games I play.
This is not a promotion of the other games. I am not quitting AE. I just wanted the opportunity to ramble a bit. Feel free to post your thoughts, and please be respectful of other comments. I reserve the right to delete any comments that I feel are over the top. Everyone plays the game in their own way; I'm sharing how I perceive things. It doesn't mean my comments are "right." Ultimately any changes to the game are up to the developers, not us, anyway.
Thanks for letting me ramble! Now back to making more AE videos!

For a sec I got scared haha. Interesting look at different games, especially Langrisser. I'd heard about it before as a sort of recc in the same breath as AE. That shard upgrading system really would be so handy for AE-if they just made it available outside of subscriptions/gacha .-. Great video! Really enjoy your walkthroughs, even though I miss the cutscenes haha.

Great discussion about AE, and I agree with all you said. You have to have a sense of the absurd when you play AE. For example, I had a good laugh about your comments on Lokido who I have with 106 light, and I've NEVER used him on a single team! And, I have a 255 Foran! What is good about this? Well, it inspires a sense of wonder in me when I see videos with all free characters defeating impossible bosses. The barriers to progression you detail give me the understanding to appreciate the creativity shown in these amazing videos.

Definitely agree with what you said.
I think that a Langrisser type of system would help encourage FTP players to stay. Depending on how much pulls before the pity, it's not going to hurt AE's revenue much.
I think more SDE can boost crystal sales as well. I would pay every month if there's SDE every month.
At the moment, I have both subscriptions on and I have to summon strategically. Every now and then, AE would release banners where I have less than 50% of the characters and I pull on those.
For the 3 months Seven Star Dream, I now only choose characters that can be Stellar Awakened (including those that I have a copy of but didn't have all 3 starcharts)
That way I can save Starcharts while still getting characters
I do pull on the 3 paid pulls and got lucky quite a few times.
Based on Sensor Tower revenue, it seems that AE's revenue increased as a result of Stellar Awakening, so I'm not sure if they want to change too much from this formula though...
But I think a Langrisser pity system and monthly SDE would boost its revenue, so I think those really should be implemented

If absolutely nothing else, a monthly SDE makes sense. It won't give people instant SA characters, and it's requested so often. It's like they don't want our money? Guess we'll see as time goes on.

@@casualcronolv99 It feels like they're taking a wait and see approach.
      I have 2 theories:
      1) They are looking at their revenue and definitely saw an increase ever since they introduced Stellar Awakening. And they took a "If it ain't broken, don't fix it" approach
      2) Since AE is run by JP company, this might be a JP company culture (aka slow to respond/change).

Haha, I'm not going anywhere! To me, part of the challenge is trying to win given the cards I'm dealt with. AE characters are my cards, and I know I'm never going to have a completed deck, so it's a weird perspective but it works for me. It's part of the fun...creating winning teams that aren't used everywhere. It's one reason I love Seven7AE's channel.
And if there's a superboss whose mechanics I find really annoying, I feel no pressure fighting it. There are some challenges that just aren't worth it, even with a full deck!

I was wondering if you were gonna leave too for a second. Wil Mak will be missed.
Opens the door so other content creators can take over though

Nah, I'm enjoying the game. There's only one mobile game I ever played that I quit before an End of Service. I did not care for DFFOO and quit it after a few months. Everything else I still play, or the game ended (FFRK, others). I don't think I'll quit AE until the servers shut down, unless they do something really, really drastic to ruin it for me. Regarding new content creators taking over...the game is 5 years old. I don't know if there's a huge demand for content at this point. I'll continue my walkthroughs and character developments though; I find them fun! Hopefully people are finding them helpful too!

@@casualcronolv99 same for me. I’ll keep doing pull videos and manifest fights with the occasional superboss if i find it easy enough. I did play one game to end of service and that was Priconnect Global. Still miss that game…..
