  • Video 16 in my character development series. A few notes:
CORRECTION: In my video, I mention that Link awakens the magic zone a limited number of times. I misread the wiki and was wrong; Link can awaken magic zone as often as you need!
    1. There are thousands of different ways to develop a character, and many ways depend on how you want to use them and who else you have to support them. My "Character Development" series showcases how to get characters to pump out lots of damage, both at mid-game and in the late-game. This is not a one-size-fits-all scenario, so don't think this will show you how to beat every boss in the game with just one character setup. Also please don't think that my method is the "correct" one either; I'm quite sure there are even better ways to develop these characters. I'm simply sharing what has worked for me.
    2. The target audience for this series are for people who suddenly pull a random new 5-star character and have no clue how to develop them. I discuss possible gear and grasta to use, and who to party up with. Veterans to Another Eden may not need the information in these videos, or have additional insight they can share in the comments section.
That said, if you recently have gotten Xianhua and are trying to figure her out, I hope this video helps! If you have questions or need clarification, please post in the comments below!

I was so excited to see a video and thought it was gonna be your updated super boss teams. I was almost like a kid who got told there's no santa. :( But great guide as always. Much appreciated! Looking forward to putting in your tips into practice.

That's on the way! I'm still tweaking around my new water and earth teams. Water's mostly done, I'm not happy with Dunarith Alter yet but the rest is looking good. I assembled an earth team, but haven't tested it yet. You may have noticed my updated magic team in this video. The Wyrmking and Warped Kelkale fights...those were actually the first time I tried both and I beat them both on the first try! Flamme AS seems a little one-note after turn 3 so I'm still not sure if I'm using her to her fullest, but overall this new magic team is much better than my old one. I figure I'll use July to test, and I'll post my new superboss teams at the start of August!

@@casualcronolv99 awesome! looking forward to it. thanks for sharing the update. I need to get more Chant Scripts and one more Treatise for Flamme AS. But you mentioned that Yakumo would be a great support. who would you recommend swapping out him for to assist?

@@MikeyUchiha I like Myunfa Alter. Iphi is good for pain, buffs, survival, and mind's eye, but Xianhua can give herself mind's eye, and Myunfa can do pain, so Iphi is iffy (ha). Flammelapis AS provides a nice 100% int and damage buff on the first three turns, but after that I'm struggling to see how she significantly helps.
Yakumo AS has Overwork and Overclock, which provides major buffs and unlimited awakened magic zones. I'd probably be inclined to ditch Flammelapis for Yakumo AS. Myunfa has too many great skills to waste one on pain, and I do like Iphi's passive buff and rez. If I had Yakumo AS, I'd probably remove Myunfa's Charity Blend and add in Keep Me Safe, and leave Yakumo and Xianhua to keep magic fate stance going. But that's all speculation; I can't test it until Yakumo decides to visit. I'm sure some other people here might have suggestions for a strong magic team, too.

@casualcronolv99 That was really helpful. Thank you. I'll try out Yakumo AS. What are your thoughts on Pom AS? I heard that she's great for magic teams too but I don't have her.

@@MikeyUchiha I got her, and she seems to have two major benefits: she can begin the fight in an awakened magic zone, and she can buff the team's int and speed by 100% and magic crit damage by 50% for six turns. She seems to have some other gimmicks as well related to stall teams and pain/poison, but I haven't explored those yet. My thoughts right now are that if you can stay in an awakened magic zone, she's really good once every six turns, but otherwise just attacks with her love bazooka the other five. If a magic team wants to explode right off the bat and beat the fight in 2 turns or so, she's gonna be useful. If the fight drags on, her poison techniques may come into play, but as a teammate, I'm not sure how helpful she'll be aside from her one major buff. So she's not bad, but I believe Myunfa is better.

ChadEriksen here, as a fellow SA Xianhua user and someone who extensively tested her (I did a popular PSA post regarding her non SA "spam" skill Horizon and her SA skill DMG comparison with Build Details)
I've been waiting for you to cover her and a phenomenal analysis. I'll add a few things.
    1) Wait did WFS nerf her ? I mean her Link ability, I didn't use her for a while since she makes almost all content on "Easy" mode so I switched to other teams but I remember her Link ability Awaken Magic Zone Unlimited times per battle as long as you already have a normal Magic Zone active not 2 times only...this is in part why I use a unit with Preemptive Magic Zone deployment skill like Myunfa Alter or Shion Alter. Please confirm this for me and thanks.
    2) You used the best team for Xianhua and I consider it to be the most powerful current team. With it you can easily do 1.5 billion per hit with Xianhua's Horizon, 1.7 with Tesseract at Enemy HP 50% or less...this is why I didn't use this team myself for a while because of how Broken it is.
    3) Just a heads-up, ALWAYS make sure that Xianhua goes LAST, make sure to increase her teammates SPD while decreasing her own. Xianhua wants to go last since with SA at lvl 90 or more her SPD can eclipse other allies which makes her tricky to Speed tune. This is in part why I stopped at level 89 and most importantly gave her the "Indomitable Ring" as it decreases SPD by 15% which almost guarantees her to go last to maximize her DPS potential.
I remember comparing her w/ and w/o Indomitable Ring and there's some DMG difference so it's recommended

Thanks, I had seen you post about Xianhua in the past and was hoping you might add in your expertise! As for your concerns...
      1. Looks like I misread the wiki about Link. It says 2 turns, and I mistook it as two times per battle. So I think you're correct and can awaken it an umlimited number of times. My mistake! I'll add a blurb about that in the description, thank you!
      2. Good to know! I was worried about Flammelapis AS...it seemed like after the third turn, she was almost useless. A 50% buff can be fulfilled with so many other characters. Wouldn't Yakumo AS be a good choice too?
      3. Last, huh? I think I can arrange for that to happen. I was about to make a video featuring her against some superbosses (I one-shotted the Wyrmking and Warped Kelkale with her while making the video, which I was not expecting to do. You actually see the first-kill Kelkale video in this; I redid the Wyrmking a few times to practice the tesseract timing more). I'll tweak the speed for those and see how it goes.
My turn, I have some questions for one of the Xianhua experts!
      1. What skills do you prefer on Myunfa Alter? I have had a hard time narrowing down three that I like.
      2. If you don't mind me linking it, can you please link your PSA post and I'll add it in the description? I'm all about getting info out and about, and not everyone on youtube visits reddit. Thanks!
I may have additional questions in the future, but I am also pretty happy overall with this team. I'm still working on the survivability (I have tried Dunarith Alter in place of Flamme AS, but with mixed results), so I'm in the process of gathering ores to buff Myunfa's hp (for her shield), so if you have any thoughts on how to improve that, I'd also appreciate it. Thanks so much for posting!

Awesome video Chrono! Helps give me an idea on how to forward with my magic team!
One thing im not sure if you mention eas regarding myunfa's tempered roast skill since it can also awaken magic zone as well. Kust something i thought to bring up.

Thanks! I got her only recently so I'm still playing around with her and some other new characters. Myunfa has soooo many good skills, it's hard to narrow it down to just three. As you could see in the video, I didn't even have an attack skill loaded, making her somewhat worthless in an AF blast. Still not sure how I feel about that. I appreciate the insight!

@@casualcronolv99 no worries! Just wanted to bring it up since it's technically an attack you have access to as long as she's in a magic or earth zone I believe.

@@LordOShade Good call! I realized I used it during the Wyrmking battle a few times, but I never really pointed it out. I'll definitely bring it up when I do other kills with this team and need it, and of course when the times comes for me to make her CD video. I also didn't really mention how Xian was placed to Myunfa's right for the Please buff, which was intentional.

I just happened to pull her a few days ago !
4 stars variant, so I have to find her tome somewhere.
I don't know if I want to Stellar Awaken her, but it would be cool to have a strong Null type unit.
I'll use this video as a way to make a decision!

    • @casualcronolv99
      @casualcronolv99  Před měsícem

I don't use Tesseract much, personally. I had to basically learn how to use it to make this video, and while I can see where it can come in handy, I don't see it being a necessity. I actually beat the Wyrmking first without it, then decided to beat him again using it in order to showcase the skill.
The start-of-battle mind's eye is nice, but again, many others can provide that buff. So I think she is one you can safely skip the SA for. You'll have less mana and int (from the nodes and from levelling to 100) but I don't think it'll matter too much. My recommendation: 5* definitely (especially if you have some good magic support already), SA only if you really feel like it.

      @cldpt Před měsícem

@@casualcronolv99 Tesseract is actually pretty great but it does require 1. SA and 2. Switching up your piano-ing. Not only is the Stellar burst variant of Tesseract incredible for inverting buffs/debuffs (which you have to be careful with debuffs actually...), but it complements Horizon set pretty well. Despite not having the defensive pen of Horizon, I find that it is usually more effective than Horizon after around 40% HP down on the enemy during AFs. I usually resort on support units and just go Trinity/Tesseract/Horizon with her, but she is indeed a unit that benefits from 4 slots quite a bit.
She may NOT be a Stellar-required unit (mostly because she has no zone improvement on the Stellar tree) but her SA is slightly better than units that absolutely don't require it to shine.
Unfortunately one thing I've found is that, in the end, she ends up not being as effective in some strategy-centric situations for high damage as Bennedict (e.g. in Battle sim challenges) because of multihit but also because of Magic null/absorb being so prevalent these days on superbosses. I think this was mostly a consequence of some powerful Magic units over the last year or so (Alma AS...) but she is definitely still one of my main units. She especially shines in fast 1T clears for AD paired up with any end-of-battle MP-refill - which is only necessary if she has low MP anyway since ADs are short and you have food to use too. Horizon is more than enough (except on some Hollow ADs because of the afforementioned magic-nullifying/absorbing enemies).
I pair her up with Thilley ES for promised land, which despite lacking the sword unit part, does have the shadow unit part on Xian, and she's also a great pain setter with 0 MP use until T4 and also allows Stellar Burst to fill fast.
