3 years late but I feel you on the suddenly drinking four or five 😆 This bottle always reminds me why I love whiskey in particular. It's a subtle change from a crowd and I swear I was getting a dark chocolate note as well. Love what Tilling offers!

Excellent review. Never apologize for having to do so much research that half the bottle is gone! This series on Irish whiskeys is helping me branch out from my regular Jamison’s that I mix with ginger ale! Keep up the great work!

Hi Bill, really enjoyed your review.
I picked this up from airport duty free sometime mid of last year, purely out of curiosity. Batch 12/207. It was definitely a pleasant surprise.
The 46% ABV & rum cask finish is perhaps what makes this a pleasant fruity expression.

A great value Irish whiskey which offers something a wee bit different and is, as you say, dangerously easy to drink!. In general, I'm a fan of Teeling and the way they do things. I know it can be a bit much at times, but their marketing and social media presence is second to none and probably has helped to build the brand significantly. What impresses me about it is the fact they are extremely responsive and and I reckon that helps to build a nice bond with consumers. Cheers Bill.

If anyone out there has not tasted an Irish whiskey then this would be an excellent place to start. On the value for money scale it is outstanding. Regrettably, it is $40 near me.
As for the history of Cooley distillery it is quite amazing that the Teelings were able to get away with that deal. They sold the distillery to Jim Beam WITHOUT the warehouse contents which guaranteed Teeling the ability to start trading immediately and denied Jim Beamthe chance to go into full sales from the start. It kind of takes away the whole point of buying the distillery if you are so generous to your vendor and surrender the best trading stock. Oh well. Suntory now run Cooley and seem to be content with dominating the wholesale market rather than making an impact on the retail market. Today their main business is selling whole barrels of whiskey to the little guys. The retail side of the old Cooley business now languishes in obscurity due to lack of attention. eg Kilbeggan released a new whiskey and it took their website two months to catch up and actually mention it. Perhaps there is too much money in selling by the barrel.

A fine whiskey at a very good price, at about $55 Canadian where I am, so that’s comparable to what your paying in US dollars. the worst whisk(e)y neck pour i ever had in my life. totally overwhelming in-your-face absolutely unmasked pungent ethanol made me almost throw up, my thoughts at the moment were "omg, the last time i felt something like this was the cheapest ass vodka i drank as a teenager in the 90s. thank god i paid just $25 for this shite". i couldn't even finish that dram
first i thought something was wrong with my bottle (after the yt reviews i watched before buying), but then i checked out the whiskybase, and almost every comment there mentioned strong sharp disgusting alcohol etc
but after a couple of weeks when i came back to this bottle, and allowed my dram to rest some 15 minutes before even touching it, it was actually quite nice. wouldn't recommend or buy again, even if it's ok and, to be honest, somewhat enjoyable after all, i probably won't ever forget that nasty neck pour and it spoils most of enjoyment for me
