Ralph Jones struggles to get his wife back when he suddenly wakes up in his past. Will he be able to live out his past the way he did or will he try to end it all.
The Doubtful Doctor Dir By: Arthur Hiller
Ralph Jones tells his psychiatrist of a disturbing episode. He came home from work one day an had a fight with his wife. He then wished that he was single again and was transported back to his bachelor days. Ralph's problem, however, is that when he tried to live his life again everything went wrong. He became depressed and gave all his money to a boy for some baseball cards. He then jumped in the river. Ralph then claims to have awakened back in the present day. The psychiatrist doubts his story until Ralph tells him what he found in his pocket after he woke up in the present day: a pack of baseball cards soaked with water.

The moral. Of the story. Don't take your loved ones for granted. One day you could wake up. And not have them anymore
Darren Stevens is the reason I clicked. Always loved him.
And how it mysteriously showed up on my suggestions ✨
Gina Rowlands is the reason I clicked & she has been in another of the Hitchcock Presents.
He made "Bewitched" a happy show to watch. Plus, he was talented too.
He reminds me of my father. He looks like him and has the same personality. ❣️
@@angelacarleton9575 IMO "Bewitched" was never as good after he left the show due to illness. R.I.P. Mr. York.
"What are you going to do now?"
"drown myself"
Kid..."oh well so long"
Lol🤣🤣🤣
I didn't see that coming🤣
Endora put a spell on him.
More than once
Darren from Bewitched. Hes a fine actor.
@49jubilee You know I never thought of that until now you brought it to my attention that would of been awesome perhaps Tabitha could of acted Elizabeth Montgomery
He was in other stuff, before bewitched
Richard Allen York
The boy's mother forgot to teach him not to talk to strangers.
Unfortunately most crimes occur from family and friends
Has anyone else noticed the plot has echoes of "It's a Wonderful Life" written all over it.
I did think of it. My all time favorite movie.
Remember how we lived on morning glory circle and I worked in advertising and we had a nosy neighbor?
"You old son-of-a-gun!"
CW 12 yeah, I twitched my nose and everything was automatic...no need for maids or...anything, just magic😍🏃🏽♀️👀
Ha!
dick york had a unique quality.
I think he may be from old English royalty stock. 🤔
@@brendaleverick3655 What a ridiculous comment to make, why would you even think that?
@@Sparrowdean ridiculous is to think otherwise.
No residuals from Bewitched and he died a poor man that's so sad
@@brendaleverick3655
Nope, he's from hearty peasant stock.
Gena Rowlands was beautiful then and she is still beautiful. She is close to 90 years old.
I love her. Gorgeous and soulful.
love her so much
i don't think i ever saw that actor without clothes before. he didn't look bad. they made a gorgeous couple.
She should of received an Oscar for "The Notebook"
Gena is beautiful & what great hair then and now...just a lovely lady.
She was wonderful in Skeleton Key with Kate Hudson.
The movement behind the wall in the yard was an absent-minded crew member wandering too far. It was likely deemed too insignificant to be seen on television sets of the era and, thus, they didn't re-shoot the scene. Or maybe director Arthur Hiller didn't see it.
The boy character "Sidney" with the baseball cards was played by 13-year-old Michael Burns, who appeared in two other AHP episodes and is 74 at the time of this writing. He did a lot of acting until he was about 30 when he retired from acting and devoted the rest of his life to academia (historian, writer, professor, PhD from Yale.) He and Gina Rowlands are the only ones left. I am writing this on Rowlands' 91st birthday! In addition to her appearance in this episode of AHP, Rowlands also appeared in three episodes of "The Alfred Hitchcock Hour."
Gina Rowlands was gorgeous and super-talented. I loved her in A Woman under the Influence with Peter Falk.
Thank you for all the infos about the actors!
Crazy ending, one only Hitchcock would think of.
Not really, he borrowed it from the movie It''s A Wonderful Life
😂......He was like oh no.....🤣......
Wow never saw this one before...interesting how popular psychoanalysis was in the fifties and sixties. Now all that happens is prescriptions are written.
S Foster No. Hi Good. Yes. Thanks
Poor Darren Must have had another spell out on him by Endora😀
Rires ! I did get wot ye said an' I dig thy good auld ironic humo(u)r ! J'ai reconnu l'acteur de la série : "Bewitched" et en français : "Ma sorcière bien-aimée".
He was a very good actor & a good Man!
I wish you guys showed the entire show
I love her coat's collar.
Yes I noticed that too. It's gorgeous. Unusual.
@@wendyanderson2670, it is a grand example of the beautiful 1950s European style.
she's so beautiful, and i don't think she had to try very hard. today people get spray tanned to look like she did in that lace dress.
@@lapacesiaconvoi, I agree!
It’s called a “ cowl collar”- One of my coats had that style collar back in the 1950s.
"I love you, can't you see that?"
"You promised not to embarrass me"
lol, harsh
Does it bother anyone else that Darren is cheating on Samantha?
Lame
😂😂😂
Did anyone else notice the person in the background scene with the empty apartment building site? He is clearly trying not to be seen
Ditto
Yes I thought it was going to be part of the story but no. Lol.
I saw someone too n thought he will jump right out frm behind..
Creepy!
i dont see it!!
I love watching these, while cozy in my bed with a snack.
Same here
He looks like jim carey
Ahhh yes. And I just love Jim Carey.
eatyorvegies
His name is Dick York and He was born in 1928, Jim Carrey was born in 1962. So technically Jim Carrey looks like Dick York.
York died at the age of 63 he was known to smoke three packs of cigarettes a day, emphysema got him in the end. York portrayed the first Darren Stephens on the sitcom Bewitched.
Sound like Jim Carey too
Original Darrin from Bewitched
@MewzMe2 Michelle A good fit for a role is more than looks, but talent, personality and age appropriate. Carrey is 60ish, and looks 70 due to his drug abuse.
Here's an episode I'd really like to see the whole thing. Has anyone posted the whole episodes???
Trust Hitchcock to deliver a doozy!
Oh DERWOOD!!! aka Darrin Stevens
😄
Most unexpected end. What else did I expect from an Alfred Hitchcock show!
actor and stunning actress Gena Rowlands should have been mentioned in the text!
Yes, John died quite young from liver cirrhosis
I'll like to have the baseball cards.
she was fabulous in the Notebook
I watched the first few episode every one better than the last. Thanks so much.🤗
Love Hitchcock! Thanks for presenting it.
I love all things Hitchcock but I wonder why these Hitchcock Presents are not the full episodes. I haven’t seen an explanation for this anywhere. 🤷🏽♀️
I agree
Oh common we are lucky to see these 10 min clips nonetheless
You can see the full episodes on Daily Motion website.
Probably gets around copyright that CZcams has to abide by. Also cuts out all of the excess scenes and just shows the plot line.
Nice idea, but you feel as though an hour of your life has been wasted; these are dated masterpieces, that don't cut it with the pace of life today. Truncated is the way to go, otherwise you would lose your respect for them.
A Hollywood rendition of a 'timeslip' experience. They are real and happen all the time to many people. What great acting, I guess we can all take life lessons from this short from Hitchcock, APPRECIATE YOUR LIFE and don't sweat the small stuff!
That man bewitches me
amaaazing omg
Awesome thank u!!!
grow flowers for the bees please I grow flowers and succulent sweet smelling flowering bushes for the birds and bees butterflies ,have tried to encourage neighbors to do the same.
Alfred Hitchcock was a real magician all the way! Greetings from Panama.
Oh my gosh Gena Rowlands I love her. what a beautiful lady . her voice isn't as gravely here she is so young . I love all her movies she aged beautifully too. One of my favorites in later years is The Skeleton Key. czcams.com/video/pRO3J1awxFQ/video.html
Beautiful, and was married to John Cassavetes, gorgeous man, gorgeous couple.
I've watched this twice and im still confused? He is living a life that takes him to the past and the present spontaneously?
Thanks, the description had me thinking and I like that actor, but no.
So sweet!
I would love to see the full episode. Real cliffhanger 😳
Yes! Wonder why only parts of the stories are shown? 🤔
You can watch the full episode on Peacock Free T.V. including All of Hitchcock episodes. I love to watch them!
Also try daily motion. this is Hitchock S6 Ep 2. i found Daily Motion looking for Richard Chamberlain in Dr. Kildare
The wonderful Gena Rowlands. And that coat in the opening scene is EPIC!
I never saw him in anything other then Bewitched.
He was in an episode of the Twilight Zone.
Best show
It's good to see Ms. Gena Rowlands here.
Yes he is Derwood always
Darrin Stevens from Bewitch💰💰💰💰👍👍👍
OMG, this is Gena Ronalds.
Rowlands
Great water pressure
😁😄😄This one reminds me more of the twilight zone vs Alfred Hitchcock
Back when hollyweird was Hollywood and the actors will normal people.
Nobody is normal!!
Kate Spurlding There has never been normality in Hollyweird.
Hollywood is just fine as it is
Kate Spurlding, I agree with you. Morals have degraded, and abnormality has ascended, at a horrifying rate. But as you can see from comments you've received, when people are born into a Dumpster society, they find it hard to believe that anyone before them ever lived in fresh air!
@@TheWriterWalker BS. Morals had gotten better since then.
Back then people were racist & homophobic. Nowadays more equalityism.
That era you glorify was the era of segregation & homophobia.
This is the better era & that is FACT so just accept it.
Uncle Arthur playing tricks on him
It did work for bewitched.
It's a Wonderful Life..he basically presented Zuzu's petals at the end
What clever episodes. The writing is phenomenal.
Anyone know the season and episode?
He didn't jump with his coat that the cards were there? Well Mr Hichcock! What do you have to say?
I basically think no one deserves to have a cheating spouse. Trust is like a crystal glass that once it’s broken,it’s hard to fix them.. That’s why it’s important to apply wisdom when dealing with our partners... Last week I suspected my husband cheating on me, a friend recommended a hacker to me I contacted him and he helped me get cheating proves by helping me hack his phone giving me full access to everything he does on his phone... I got access to all his phone call logs, Text messages, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Kik, Emails, Social media chats (both old and new) without looking at his phone... if you suspect your spouse cheating on you, just contact this great hacker via text/whatsapp or call him +1 (908) 799‑8357 , or via mail (cyberprohack100@gmail.com). His services are very trusted and guaranteed and also affordable, I can’t thank him enough. I hope you find peace of mind just like I have found after discovering the truth As the saying goes, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger
We don't actually see him put the cards in his coat. His back was turned to us. He may have put them in the pocket of his shirt or an interior chest pocket of his suit jacket, both of which he wore when he jumped.
Charlie Jane, yes you are rights, l had to watch it again and that Is what happened, you are as clever as Hitchcock. thank you
Is it a copyright problem to get the full episodes of this series posted on CZcams?
Good question!
@@brendaleverick3655 I believe it is now in the public domain as of 2021.
His ears
Now I know how the writer’s from Dark Matter got inspiration to write that .
I want my coat back!😍
this whole caper has Endorra's fingerprints all over it
Wasn't she in the movie The Notebook?
Lavern Letman Yes. That's her.
He was bewitched.
Poor Darwood !
Affection. It should be returned or, else.
The psychiatrist (John Zaremba) played Dr. Danvers on the original "Dallas" from 1978-1986.
These are the type of stories that I would have crumpled up half way in cuz I would convince myself they were too stupid. lol
wow 2021 TEXAS
Sam’s first husband
I see psychiatrists have always been full of crap!
I've embarrassed 3 shrinks and had mercy on several psychologists just in normal (to me anyway) conversation. But they're so quick to issue more meds and increase dosages. By the way, I'M the crazy one!?
michael wertzy Lol. No sir, they’re the crazy ones. While the rest of the worlds professions are embracing new ideas and technology, these guys are still following the likes of Freud, Jung, Adler et al.
Most of their theories being dubious at best and downright garbage at worse.
I would also be deemed crazy on some circles.
@@Irunwithscissors63 I saw a psychiatrist once, and he was straight up helpful. I was depressed but didn't want any meds, so I sat and talked to him. He really listened, and that was the magic. None of my friends could help me, because they were afraid I might react badly if they said the wrong thing. But he was anonymous, except for having been recommended by my friend, and easy to talk to. He showed me an important part of my thinking process that was not doing me any good, in fact, harming me, and I've never forgotten it. A non- judgmental
ear to confide to is a wonderful thing.
@@Irunwithscissors63 The earth is a globe.
Luciferson Hellsworth what has that comment got to do with this thread?
Alfred H dipping a toe into the twilight zone.
He always had a jagged hair part. Not trolling, just I’ve always noticed 🙂
seems like the work of endora tbh

wow, young gena rowlands...
Does Samantha know!?
Why is Darren trying to cheat on Samantha?!?
The Notebook
Is that Derwood?
May I ask why these Alfred Hitchcock Presents on youtube are NOT the full episodes but only partial?
Twins....🏃🏽♀️
Yes everything is anxiety and depression until it's not. Hint it never was.
Hmmmm.... too close to my life! WTH?
"good girl" 😶
He played a wife beater in another episode of AHP
This man in every part acted like a petulant little boy
YUP, DARRIN, BUT LIKE ROLANDS ALSO
😬😬😬😬
🖐🏻😲 God forbid this ever happens to anybody. I did hear of a real story though that my folks told me of but not going to tell you of it. 😁 It is so weird you won’t believe it but do believe that we are not alone out there. The hell we are.
He gilled trhat littel boy!!! 😢
well that sucked as far as a story goes. the acting was great although i did expect to hear him call out to sam or the tabatha lol i always enjoy seeing him in these old movies ! although this one was no good it had no ending!
Pre-Bewitched I assume!
That’s Gina Rowland’s? Holy cow……
Is this Gena Rowlands?
Yes, she is. Very classy.
What's real?
How did Darren get all these babes?!😅
