I think lockpicks are quite strong. It seems like the evaluation of lockpicks needs to take into account some of the other rogue staples, especially lucky cigarette case. Almost every rogue makes it to at least 7 with a lockpicks investigation. And the way it enables the “succeed by” archetypes shouldn’t be downplayed.

I'll readily admit that I don't really value the oversucceed archetype at all. Cigs are fantastic, but the rest of the archetype is fairly underwhelmign imo. My big issue with lockpicks being good as a cigarette case enabler is that it's predicated on the idea that you can't reliably trigger cigs without the lockpicks.
If you find yourself needing lockpicks to think you'll succeed by 2 in the course of a turn as a class with bonus actions, in a role that gets clues and therefore will always have tests to take, you're in a terrible spot. Either you should be able to get the cigs to go off without the lockpicks, or the fact that it's the only way to get them to go off means you aren't doing very much outside of those lockpicks.
I do think they have a place, but it's in flex characters and high exp decks with cigs (3). If you need more than one clue a round, lockpicks aren't going to get you there. If you only have normal cigs and nothing else, you should already be triggering them.
All of that said, in video I'm overstating how much I dislike them. They're fine. They can be a piece of the puzzle for getting 2+ clues per round. It's just that a lot of Rogues, especially at low exp, end up with just lockpicks and intel report, which is nowhere near good enough.

Nice video. I also used to play HS. The best memory I have is when i faced Thijs in the China vs Europe qualifiers quarterfinals, back then in 2015. He beated me with his freeze mage but it was veeery close: i was playing paladin and had proked both ice blocks, but i overcommited to the board. He gained another turn just with a freezing nova, and in the next one he pulled off the combo. I had previously won him with hunter and warrior but... anyway i'm glad i gave up Hearthstone because it was too much time consuming. AH is more casual and i prefer that, and i'm enjoying your videos a lot. You have a new subscriber 😉

Great video. This video is the answer why so many people love Arkham. Can you share your sefina decks? I am really surprised why spell is better than tools that we can get from underworldmarket. And by the way crafty is really good in Rita, it gets you enough economy for flex.

Bob is not a seeker and Rita is not a guardian. Seekers and guardians are the strongest cluevers and fighters in the game, they're designed to be effortless in what they do. Survivors and rogues are not designed that way, they cheat the system or scrap through dirt to get by, and they make up for it by having strengths in other area. Bob is so good at setting up that scavenging flashlights over and over again doesn't hurt his action economy at all, unlike it would with Minh. And imagine Leo on turn 1, caught weaponless without even a prepared for the worst in hand, drawing a Conglomeration of Spheres in Dunwich, while you don't have to worry about that with Rita because her ability is always on from turn 1.

You hate playing Rogues because they are too slow. You hate Big Money. I'm telling you: try Fighter Kymani. Not flex, not cluever. Fighter. The only fighter I can think of with an ability that's as good as Kymani's (for fighting) is Tony. Kymani's literally says, "You didn't get a weapon? No biggy, you got this." It is such a relief to not have to panic about your opening hand because you can handle things until your Underworld Market does give you what you need. Even Tony can watch things cascade out of control a little bit during those first couple of rounds if you're unlucky.
Be the main fighter as Kymani. Experience it and then tell me they continue to be in your C tier. I bet you won't.

Furthermore, you're my favorite AH channel. There are a couple of other channels I enjoy but not to the level of yours. I was sad when you stopped posting videos between EotE and SK and I'll be sad when you do it again. Do you actually stop playing or do you just stop doing videos? I have no idea how your AH videos compare to your other stuff, but hopefully they do well enough that you might consider doing something like a weekly investigator focus (pick an investigator, do an in-depth dive on them). If your AH content doesn't do as well as your other content, well, I get that. Stick with what makes you a couple of bucks. lol

Dude I ranked them as C tier because I played them as main fighter in our first run of EotE. They are so much worse when they need to engage > dodge > dodge. As flex, you don't have to be the bodyguard, and you don't have to spend that 3rd action to engage. You just deal with your own share of the enemies for the majority of the scenario.

    • @tcr7
      @tcr7 Před rokem +3

@@RatherIncoherent It feels bad but not very different from a normal fighter who would engage / fight / fight. And you ultimately save actions vs most enemies when you pick up Stealth (2).
I'll definitely be running them through another campaign as the primary fighter, though. My success with Kymani was as better than the campaign I did with Tony, who had until now been my best fighter. Even their Grappling Hook put in some serious work in a couple of scenarios, taking away the engage tax and either allowing me a free clue or to move to my partner.
I'm getting pushback from all corners when I say, "Hey, this Kymani character is actually stronger than you're giving them credit for!" And I get it, because my first pilot of them was below average. But I saw some potential there and tried again. And then again. I'm not sure if it's the warrior build in Hearthstone thing where I've just figured out how to pilot Kymani or if I've just gotten incredibly lucky, but I'm definitely getting better performance from them than what others do. A lot of what you preach are things that I vehemently agree with. I figured if you gave it a try, you'd see what I was talking about. Or maybe I'm the crazy guy yelling at the clouds. That's very probable, too, considering you've tried fighter Kymani and found them underwhelming.

Rather than increase the game difficulty for more challenge, play with the suboptimal investigators.

I have enjoyed your content, and I'm sad that you plan to stop posting Arkham videos.
This video does a good job of explaining why I like PBG more than your channel. Since you mention them admirably, I don't think you will be offended. You present optimized decks, but I have no interest in copying an optimized deck in a cooperative card game I largely play alone multi-handed.
Best of luck with your next stage of content creation!
