8:20 as explained, sadly the Australian car industry collapsed. But it did leave in its wake a lot of Australian engineering. Australian engineers did get involved in a lot of international projects. The 5th Generation Camaro was never sold in Australia, but was developed almost entirely by Holden in Victoria, Australia and built in Canada. Search for the testing shots of the pre-production Camaro running the Nürburgring in Germany, and you'll note that it's wearing Australian (Victoria) number plates.
But the most recent engineering is that of the Ford Ranger. The current and last generation were designed and developed by Ford Australia for the global market. The T6 Australian developed Ranger was released in 2011, but it took 8 more years to finally have it get to the US. The latest generation P703 Ranger is wholly developed by Ford Australia. The platform is also shared by the VW Amarok (2nd gen) which is an Australian-German joint collaboration.
So technically although Ford is an American brand, the Ford Ranger is certainly an Aussie truck under the skin despite not being manufactured in Australia.
I heard the Ranger was developed by Mazda engineers but in Australia, using Ford Australia's facilities. And they developed the Mazda BT's and Ford Rangers at the same time.
The car industry RUNS on taxpayer subsidies. All countries do it, to protect local jobs brokered by dodgy unions.
Now these car companies took over a billion dollars and siphoned it into their own profits.
frankly the cars they made were garbage, but big. they used a lot of fuel and this got the tax money returning

Afraid not. There are examples of Ford Australia using Mazda sourced cars in the companies past for sure, but in the case of the previous generation Mazda BT it was a badge engineered Ford Ranger and the Ranger was very much a Ford Australia project. The latest Mazda BT50 for the record is a badge engineered Isuzu. @@lordhumungous7908
@@lordhumungous7908 No it was designed and engineered by Ford Australia, Mazda then used the platform and sold it as a BT-50. Both Rangers and BT-50s were manufactured in Thailand.

Well, that was a pleasant surprise, an intelligent, respectful, and appreciative appraisal of Australian motorsport,from of all people, the Donut crew! A few details could do with a bit of fine tuning. (need to credit 22-year-old Lew Bandt, a Ford designer here in the 1930s with the initiative for the Ute) (this oversight, is possibly due to some homegrown bias, towards GM). It was good to see the guys have some fun, while taking a genuine look at Aussie motorculture. We are so used to American CZcamsrs, who come down and do nothing but mock and demonstrate their ignorance . Well done guys and please come back soon. Love your work regardless of continent. I can't even express how much I love this whole collaboration. It took Donut to bring MCM and 4wd24-7 together. The greatest four wheel drive channel and the greatest four wheel drive channel. Can't wait to see them get together!

Loved the collab, just a quick note, we also usually call vehicles like the Hilux, Ranger and D-Max as Utes as well.

As an Australian and a massive fan of both 4wd 24/7 and donut, this is the greatest colab ever 👌
The ute you drove at The Bend was the infamous AU Falcon and they have a cult following here in Australia. The AU came with the ‘Intech’ engine, the SOHC predecessor to the DOHC Barra. Some Intech had variable cam timing but most didn’t.
By the way, the Landcruiser at the beginning was a HDJ80 not an FJ80 (because it runs the 1HD series turbo diesel engine, not the 3F series petrol engine).

Correction for you Donut dudes... Ford Australia invented the ute. In the 1930s, they took a sedan and turned it into a light truck. Henry Ford called it the "Kangaroo Chaser".
Its also great to see Jerry come into his own in his time at Donut and definitely becoming one of the energies that floats the channel.

@@DjTommosimmo Inline 6's are alot more common, not a huge amount of V8s in Australia, same here in New Zealand, and there are plenty of burnouts at boy racer scenes but those usually... less than legal.

The ute actually dates back further than the first Holden to Ford Australia in 1934. Also the "American" Ford Ranger was designed and engeneered in Australia as the T6 and mainly built in Thailand (and South Africa) long before the USA got it
Honestly didn’t care for Jeremy for the first few months but he’s grown to be one of the most genuine, relatable, informed members of the cast. In a weird way seeing them “fail” is almost more real mechanic shit than the channels where everything goes right in the end.

That GTR is wicked. Good rips Jerry. It’s not about the accomplishments, it’s about your journey and character development as a driver. Over time through all the things you absorb in life, you’ll only grow, so apply and learn the sciences as well to be best prepared.
One of the things that I really love as a car admirer from Indonesia who lived in australia is that how diverse the cars are, multiple manufacturers and models, and seeing ladder frame SUVs to actually get used where it’s belong not just for showing off and bullying others on road are a very nice thing to see compared to Indonesia😭
BTW, Indonesia should be top priority whenever this series gets a new installment. I've seen a few videos that show how amazing you're doing it despite all the access difficulties.
the halloween edit was really really funny lol. these scene videos are legit journalism and documentation of beautiful social formations that would slip thru the world and into total obscurity otherwise. It's such a great thing to record and preserve. Donut rules.

Yes dude! I love this "Underground scene" videos! You HAVE to do Germany. Ive seen some things you cannot imagine. From clapped out 700 HP Golf MK1s all the way to 3 axsi Porsches. But experience might vary of course!
Their car/truck scene looks unreal. It is shame that Holden and Ford couldn't survive in their markets as local manufacturers. The Aussie's really seem to have a lot of pride and drive for all the hobby/industry.
They aren't even scratching the surface of the car scene here. There are some weekends where an entire classic car club will take over a regional(country) town and the whole place becomes a car festival.

THIS WAS YOUR BEST VIDEO EVER! And I've seen them all. I loved the colab with the 4wd 24/7 guys. I watch all of their stuff too. Keep pushing, keep learning, and keep filming it. I've always been too intimidated by the complexities and precision of motors. And I'm a smart guy, I mean hell, I'm finishing a PhD as this comment goes out. But still, motors remained elusive and still fascinating to me. It wasn't until I came across the Donut Crew that I had finally found my key to understanding. Since watching your videos, years ago, I've learned more than I could have ever dreampt possible. My interest in cars and engines and aero and all the rest grows daily. And I've built a pretty sick overlanding Tundra myself with the help of my local professionals who have become a pretty-much monthly source of auto knowledge. Anyway, I never comment on these things but I just wanted you to know, from a true long time fan, that this was the BEST one yet!! BTW, where the hell are the other guys? Lol

I remember first hearing about mighty car mods back in school. If it wasn't for watching endless hours of their content I might never have taken the mechanics career path so props to them they know their shit 👌 I didn't even know the difference between an alternator and a starter motor when I tuned in for the first time 😂

It’s a shame how Chrysler Australia was completely forgotten in this video even though it had quite a impressive history in the Australian market and Motor racing, Chrysler always seems to get over shadowed by Ford And Holden Especially in the Bathurst marketing it’s never mentioned at all. Sad to see it end up like this
Apart from the 4wds they really didn't show aussie car culture at all, they made it seem like no one drives Aussie cars even though the holden commodore is still the most registered car in the country

Having only experience the car scene since the 1990s. I've never spent much time with Chrysler cars here in Aus. They are neglected history that very few people have hands on experience today. Would be cool to see it get visited as historical context but finding these cars IRL would be difficult.

I love how, despite the pain, you can see the perseverance. I love racing and I plan in doing it someday. Sometimes you feel a drive so strong, it's impossible to quit, and it's amazing.
