    6-0 in the Finals is worst argument ever. So is it better to lose in the first or second round of the playoffs than lose in the Finals? That is crazy. People who say that think that LeBron going to the Finals in for example 2007 was worse achievment than Michael Jordan's lose to the Pistons before the Finals. Where is the logic? It is MUCH BETTER to have record 6-4 in the Finals than 6-0 because it means that you were capable to go to the Finals 4 more times.

    • @gerardgag
      @gerardgag Před 7 lety +13

      Kosmiczne Opowieści at the end of the day MJ lost less than Lebrón losing in a finals or a first round is still losing

    • @DarinAtkins
      @DarinAtkins Před 7 lety +36

      Perfect finals record vs a current 3-4. No comparison. Getting there is good,but winning it and never losing is the objective. Jerry West has been to the finals 9x won it once. Hakeem Olajuwon and Isiah Thomas have been there 3x and won it twice. With your logic Jerry West's record is better than theirs. Winning the title more times than losing it is always better.

    •  Před 7 lety +47

      Darin Atkins - Jerry West won once, but Olajuwon and Thomas twice so there isn't fair comparision. Try this one - both Kobe and Magic have 5 rings. Kobe was 5-2 in the Finals and Magic was 5-4 in the Finals. Which record is better? Was it better that Magic goes to 2 more Finals or was it better that Kobe lost in earlier rounds? Obviously Magic's record is better.

    • @ccjswd
      @ccjswd Před 7 lety +8

      Kosmiczne Opowieści looking at the numbers maybe but there's a story behind every digit, level of competition, path to the finals, the help around you, injuries. This isn't a league where you get participation trophies. Regardless Besides Kobe, all those you listed aren't ever going to be in the GOAT conversation. If you're involved in the GOAT conversation yes going 3-4 is going to hurt you when you're compared to 6-0. Someone who has never lost or someone who has lost more then he won? It's well known that MJ played in a better era, against a tougher conference too. Lebron has lost to the Mavericks, not just lost but swept, that matters. It's a knock against him, he changed teams and formed a super team with all star players and still only won 2, then goes back to Cleveland because Dwade and bosh are getting worse, and joins an emerging Kyrie and gets Love as well as a great bench and good talent all around and loses the first one and wins the 2nd. All these matter. If you look at the numbers and don't read into it sure. But that's not how it works. We are talking about the greatest of all time. We don't skip over things, and 6-0 beats 5-2 and both of those best 3-4

      no,
      catching to Ghost of MJ is HIS goal...but the goals that We set for him? the media goals? the goals that was place upon him since day one? yes he done it all
      Can he win?
      can he be great?
      will he win more rings?
      will he bring one for the land?
      will he be an all time great?
      those Question he answer and went above that was ask of him. there is nothing he needs to prove no one that he is one of the top greats of all time.
      also
      Lebron is better than MJ...defends, rebound, pass, shoots, and a better leader.
      MJ is only a better free throw and Scores more of the ball (while shooting more and being less efficient than lebron)
      another classic case of MJ fanboy.
      Sorry i review players base on their REAL action not the stories that are created by the media leaving out important details. you know like MJ never beating any greats, the 90s were very weak, Magic played in a very weak West with a stack team, kobe Choking 3 airballs and so on...you know the same thing that people will do with lebron when they talk about him in 10 years when they "Forget" important details.

  • @yungg5703
    @yungg5703 Před 7 lety +195

    The argument is ridiculous to me In terms of "passing" MJ. When talking about the Greatest Player of All Time, it should be based more upon the skill one brings to the floor rather than the amount of championships his team won. The 6-6 argument doesn't necessarily equal a better individual talent, but when mentioning how good MJ was on the court and the skills that he brought to the table compared to LeBron then we can have a real argument. This "passing" MJ thing is more about rings rather than who is better.

    • @sadjetsfan1584
      @sadjetsfan1584 Před 7 lety +13

      Our definition of "Greatness" has always been defined by legacy and accomplishments. Fair or not, that's the reality. If it was defined by skills and pure ability/performance as a player, Bill Russell should be nowhere near the top 5 all time. Hakeem, Shaq, Wilt, Kareem were all more skilled/had better numbers. But those 11 rings and 5 MVPs...the legacy is what keeps him near the top of the list.

    • @yungg5703
      @yungg5703 Před 7 lety +6

      Sad Jets Fan I agree. Even though I hear more people in favor of Kareem and sometimes wilt over Russell, but for me I have that playground mentality. We all have played basketball. We know game when we see it. I think that this argument between these two guys that have amazing career accolades should simply be judged more on skills. Ultimately, the argument is being turned into who was more successful rather than better.

      I feel like if people really want to know who's truly better, they're going to have to dig way deeper than just rings. Championships are a team effort, and isn't always accurate in determining an individual player's greatness. We have to look at the player's value, skill, play-making abilities, clutchness, overall contribution to the team, etc. so many other factors

There was never a moment in his career where anybody even thought of the idea that Kobe was close to MJ, let alone surpass. Barkley, the one you just mentioned, said in 2012 that LBJ can be better than Jordan, in 2012 fam. That shows you how quickly he jumps the gun. But I'm talking bigger picture. Where it's a common believe amongst the majority of people that LBJ is close to MJ or is the only one who has a chance to surpass him. That never was the case with Kobe.

    It's crazy how all the debate criteria concerning the GOAT discussion gets twisted in favor of MJ.
    MJ didn't have to get more titles than Kareem, didnt have to match his number of Finals appearances, didn't have to get more MVPs, and didn't have to break his scoring record to pass him.
    MJ didn't have to match Magic's 9 Finals appearances in 12 seasons, and win 5 titles while playing all 5 positions. MJ also gets a pass for losing to Bird's Celtics and the Bad Boy Pistons in the playoffs. But Magic doesn't get a pass for losing to those teams in the Finals. Magic's 5-4 Finals record against the all-time great BOS/DET/PHI teams is more impressive than MJ's 6-0 Finals record against the competition he faced.
    MJ also didn't have to match Bill Russell's 8 straight titles, or his 11 titles in 12 seasons, to pass him as GOAT.
    MJ wasn't held to any of those standards. But Lebron has to match or surpass MJ's 6 titles in order to pass him as the GOAT?!? Makes no sense.

Kobe is probably the most unclutch superstar in NBA playoffs history, shooting 30-88 (34%) in the last 5 minutes and 5-22 (22%) in the last 10 seconds to tie or take the lead. Jordan and Lebron are better than him in every statistical category, and most importantly, are way more efficient.

      PlayerLocke23 the difference is that the Lakers and bulls were smart enough to recognize the talent they had and surround their stars with legit talent. the cavs did not so that and he told them for years...but they kept expecting him to do it on his own. kobe from day 1 was gifted the most dominate big man in the game for his 1st 8 years and look at the 3 years kobe had after he had shaq traded before gasol got there 05 missed playoffs 06 first round exit 07 first round exit in his prime...he thought he xouls so it alone... i compare these 3 years to what bron had to deal with for his first 7 in cle. then kobe demanded a trade multiple times but the Lakers got gasol and then went to 3 straight finals. so it's not LeBron fault he didn't have the smart franchise or quite frankly the coaching that both Jordan and kobe had in Phil Jackson. bron has always had an inexperienced rookie level head coach. even Spoelstra was only in his 3rd year when bron got there. say for example bron got drafted to the spurs and had pop his whole career...then people be saying the west is so weak spurs make it every year and bron would already have 5-6 rings

LeBron and Jordan have never Not been the best player on their team. and I guarantee if bron had prime shaq on his team for his first 8 YEARS they would've won more than 3 because of LeBrons willingness to share the ball. my guess is 5-6 titles in 8 years since y'all are always into hypotheticals

    Kobe Bryant is not in the conversation, he never was! I do think he's a top 10 player, maybe at 8th to 10th, an incredible legend that is for certain; but being the greatest of all time was never within reach for Kobe. When it comes to rebounding, passing, steals and blocks; he's clearly inferior to both Jordan and obviously LeBron. Defensively, Kobe was a pretty good defender; but still never been on Jordan and LeBron's level. Kobe could score, yes, a lot! But with a low FG percentage. Jordan and LeBron are much more effective scorers, scoring more than Kobe does while taking less shots.
    Kobe has 5 rings, yes; but in 3 of them, he was more like what Kyrie is to LeBron today. Shaq lead that team, he was at his peak. If he had Carter or Pierce alongside him instead of Kobe, Lakers would've still had that 3 peat. Kobe then lead the Lakers and when he finally got a good team with Gasol, Bynum, Odom, Ariza and Fisher; he has proven he can lead a team to success as well and top marks for him. Again, I am by no means diminishing what Kobe did and how great he was; he just wasn't at Jordan or LeBron's level.

    • @adonstudiosofficial
      @adonstudiosofficial Před 7 lety +8

      Gun Murat Ilban I respect this argument and opinion but I disagree about scoring, because I think Kobe is the greatest scorer of all time, he hit difficult shots so often I think we take it for Granted how great it was that he hit those shots, I think you should consider that LEBRON is 6'9 and has an advantage and taking much easier shots and layups, while Kobe shot a lot of contested mid range shots and threes,
      Not to mention the records
      81 points
      4 straight 50 point games
      6 60 point games
      9 straight 40 point games
      13 straight 35 point games
      3,000 points in a season(05-06)
      62 points in three quarters(outscored the other team)
      35 PPG in a season
      30 PPG on three different seasons
      27 PPG at 34 years old
      This man was an amazing scorer who had I think the most tricks in his bags man, I think he's more skilled than any player ever, ( I don't think he's better than Jordan or close to him, or better than Magic, but arguments can be made for others in my opinion,) and I believe he's the greatest scorer of all time

      I have a lot of respect for the Wilt and Russell; but we've got to keep it in mind that they played in a completely different era. If you watch their games, you can see basketball was just a different game back then. NBA gained it's worldwide reputation in the 80's. Until then, it just wasn't very relevant and there weren't great athletes around. Especially in Wilt's era. The reason why he was so dominant, wasn't because he was an incredible player. It was because there weren't any real athletes in the league to stop him in the paint. This is different than Shaq's situation though, Shaq was still that dominant despite there were great athletes around.

    If you want to talk about best basketball players, none of these guys would be able to beat Wilt or Kareem or Shaq in a one on one game because it would be impossible for them to guard the best centers. They would back them down to the basket and never miss. There is no "Greatest of All Time", because it's impossible to compare different positions and different eras that had different rules. Glo'ed Up You tripping.. LeBron losing this year is almost expected considering who he's going up against..To give you my honest opinion if GS wins it who would be shocked...No one. Gs losing would look better than them winning...I would be surprised if the Cavs don't repeat

But no, GOATS don't join other teams with great players, they make their team great. Mike never did that; he made his team great

  • @jayanderson939
    @jayanderson939 Před 7 lety +1

    Lebron definitely deserves to be in the same sentence with MJ, Magic, Kobe etc. The guy does everything for his team, without him the cavs may not even be in the playoffs. The only difference between Lebron and MJ or Kobe is that he left and joined 2 other superstars to win a ring when he couldnt do it himself whereas the other guys stayed when their team's were trash. 6 straight final appearances is also an unbelievable stat but if you look at the amount of 50+ win teams lebron has had to play in the playoffs (9) and beaten compared to MJ and Kobe (who are both in the 20s) you can see that Lebron has had an easier ride in the playoffs. Personally i think MJ is the GOAT but thats just my opinion.

    The greatest players in NBA history are the "one namers" as Colin said. The ones you know just by hearing one word:
    Jordan
    Magic
    Bird
    Kareem
    Shaq
    Kobe
    Hakeem
    Wilt
    Russell
    LeBron

  • @dvstatingman

    If I am not mistaken Wayne Dawson On Fox 8 news actually started calling him King James After Lebrons first Game as a Cavalier. Initially he didn't like it but the fans here in Cleveland started referring to him as such. The Chosen One soon came after. What a lot people possibly don't remember, was that Lebron did not initially want to play for Cleveland. He actually wanted to play for New York. Like most young people in Cleveland at that time, there was an infatuation with New York. I am sure there is an interview with him somewhere where he is wearing a Yankees cap. For a lot of young Clevelanders That was more of a style thing than anything else. I used to manage a mens clothing store called TNT and I can say without a doubt we sold sold more LA,, NY, Duke and Bulls gear that anything with Cleveland written on it.
