- Bruce is the name of the Great White Shark that was the main antagonist of Jaws, and was the collective name for a reoccurring group of supposedly-mutated Great White Sharks thought to be closely related genetically.
This particular incarnation of the shark was depicted in the film Jaws released by Universal in 1975. In addition, there were slightly similar-looking designed sharks depicted in follow-up sequels (J2, J3, and J4, respectively). However, the shark design as depicted in the original Jaws, is by far the most respected variant among fans of the film franchise.

I've never been so proud as to share a first name with a legendary shark!
The first blockbuster I saw back in 1975 age 9. What an experience ❤️🇬🇧
The first blockbuster ANYONE saw, actually. 😄
I was in my teens when this movie debuted and seeing it at the New Jersey shore (and then following it with a day of swimming and crabbing in the bay) made the theatrical experience memorable and special. We're fortunate to both have experienced this movie in the filled cinema.
Love the one of Richie Helmer with his foot on Bruce like, look what I caught! Thanks for sharing. I never get bored of JAWS photos 🙌
What a beautiful slideshow of this shark!😍
Although years ago, I've already seen almost all of these pics on the Internet personally, they're still good-looking👍
1:09 shark like "did i do good mr director?"
What is it about this animatronic Shark that makes it more terrifying than a real shark?
It’s because it looks uncanny
I think it's the fact that what you're looking at is a real thing in the sense of no CGI. And that they tried to legit make it look so much like a real great white for it to turn out like this. As much as we can tell it's meant to be a shark it almost looks like a new breed of great white
because before jaws not too many people actually ever saw a shark so when they saw this one they believe it's what they really look like.
Awesome look at Bruce! Those color pictures are epic.
I've seen 80 percent of these, but still loved it. The good ol' days of moviemaking....
Some great photos here.
Never get tired of seeing behind the scenes pics or vids
Great compilation of shots! Really makes me want to get a nice figure of one to go with my Quint and Hooper!
Great video of the classic jaws !!
Great photo material, congrats
Anyone have any idea what was going on in the color shot at 0.51? Never seen that pic before and the breaching shark with the board on its head does not register from the film...tia
I agree I have never seen this shot before, looks like Roy Scheider bottom left. It never smashed the cabin like that unless it was the close up shot of it breaching the cabin through the window?
Loved the photos!!!
I am sorry but 1:00 no other shark in the Jaws series looked as good.
Jaws 3 shark wasn't that bad
@@williamjackson1602 But they did nothing with it.
@@roquefortfiles wdym
@@williamjackson1602 They had it slowly moving through a confined space and every time they cut to it all it did was snarl over and over. They never had it come out of the water on the surface or reveal its self so you could actually see how big it was like the shark in Jaws. No grand reveal shots. No epic pop ups. Just slowly moving through a conduit tunnel. It was a waste of a prop. IMO. Very badly handled by the director. There was nothing "Epic" about the shark it just moved along in a tunnel and growled with its top jaw now and then. Unbelievably boring.
There's no way you could ever get me near Bruce, even if he was out of the water.
Love these!! I'd be scared to get in the water with that thing!
Love these!
Outstanding! Thanks!!
THE LAST PHOTO IS AWESOME.
It's so reassuring to see Quint smiling and posing next to the shark. I was devastated when Quint was killed in the movie, but look! He's okay after all😃. He was my favorite character in Jaws, by far!
Same, I wish they hadn't killed him off like that after he survived the USS Indianapolis disaster. I guess it was finally his turn.
Great pics 👌
Best film ever 👍
Robert Shaw would have been mildly proud. What a performance and production.
All great pics
Bruce was all about taking photos with friends, the paparazzi didn't bother him at all, haha!
I think the fascination about the mechanical shark was the designe. The face, jaw-teeth-eyes, everything about that. It was iconic and a unique animatronic back then it was created and produced by Bob Mattey, Joe Alves and they're team. After the production and end filming, they going to destroyed by weather or it was taken to the landsfill for disposal.
Seeing people inside the shark's mouth, legs hanging out.... sure gave this mechanical beast scale!
Love that movie
That's valerie taylor in the inital pictures wow
Is there a book that is just full of photos seen and NOT seen??? And if there is a book what is it called please
Regards
I really wanna know if there’s any photos of the sharks rotten in the backlot because I can’t find any photos
The Underwater Photos in the Tank are really Scary 😮
1:33 best one
That thing creeps me out, I wouldn't get in the water with it
2:25 is this shark actually in the movie? It looks so different from the others
they used 3 different sharks in the movie. a right to left shark, left to right and the one you see in this video that comes straight out of the water head first I believe
Neato!
1:14 what was that scene supposed to be with the shark moving behind the small motorized boat and it looks like people falling off of it?
Let’s get it
Id love to how creatures of the sea react to seeing Bruce
Cool photos completely wrong music. The one thing I have never seen is how the shark actually moved underwater they show the structure that holds up the shark but they don't show how things actually moved. did they set up a railing at the bottom where the structure would glide on like a trolley?
Even though I know this is an animatronic. Still to this day that thing still freaks me out 😱🤣
Great pictures! Music, not so great.
That is because it is so repetitive. I hate looping music that does not go anywhere.
The beat is dope
I have to mute it and play something else.
FYI: There were 3 sharks they made for the film.
0:50 Ben Gardner’s boat?
Good call, the shark looks like at the end of the film just after killing quint but I always wondered if they had plans to shoot the Ben gardener attack. Would explain the wood randomly around the shark.
Not rare & unseen pics if you have the Jawesome Memories From Martha's Vineyard book. If you haven t got it , get it. It's the creme da la creme.
As fake as the shark might look it's nowhere near as bad as the shark in the Meg even with all the technology they have today.
jowels
Love the track you got it on ya love to add that to my collection.
JAWS!!! :)👍👷ko
No one has seen this since that VHS special edition came out in 1998
The still photos emphasize how fake the mechanical shark appears. It doesn't look like a great white shark (or any other live animal). In the movie they kept it moving around enough so that it didn't look so much like a spectacular merry-go-round ride.
