Thank you, you brought back wonderful memories. And I really sympathise with blisters (had quite a few myself) ... and my husband also had to carry my backpack once 😉. Well done! I highly recommend the Via Podiensis starting in Le Puy en Velay when you do your next Camino. You have an option of continuing on the Frances when you reach SJPDP😀

Charlotte, its important to me that I hear about your challenges so that I can have realistic expectations. So thank you for expressing them (without being whiny at all! Well, maybe at 47:55 😂 I'm sure those foot problems were nasty!). I watched your individual videos about this pilgrimage and am enjoying this one just as much. I will be doing the coastal route of Camino Portugese in April/May next year so its been particularly helpful to watch your weather.

Hi Lorraine, thanks for the beautiful message 😊🙏🏼❤️ we certainly offer a balanced perspective with our different takes on each situation! About the alternative routes, it really comes down to how much time you have, the bonds you make with the people around you, your adventurous spirit, and what you feel in the moment. If you feel called to walk those routes then you should. In 2018 we walked the Camino Frances and finished with the way to Finisterre and I’m so glad that we did, it was a great ending to such a long journey! Cory x

Hello Guys! How wonderful journey you made, and I'm so thankful for your great videos!❤ In 2022 I made from Porto to Vila do Conde following the litorial path, then switched to Rates and followed all along the central route. But your journey encouraged me to do next time the litorial route until the border. 😂 Dear Charlotte, if you don't mind I'd share my experience how to avoid blisters. ;) So wide toebox shoe (like Altra Loan Peak ex.), thin (surprisingly not the thicker ones) merino socks (Smartwool) and daily gounding (15 minutes in natural water like ocean, stream or just staying barefoot in sand, forest terrain) can help a LOT, healing your whole body, reducing inflammation. In my experience these 3 are the keys to avoid blisters, therefore enjoy more the route and the experience earned during the caminho. I have no blisters at all, but I actually used a Vivobarefoot running shoe. However after I learnt how many asphalted (or covered with cobblestones) route are there along the Caminho (I think at least half of the daily amount), I decided to take a shoe with more padding under my feet. But zero drop and wide toe box are essentials!!! Again, thank you for sharing your experiences, those are really helpful and fun! 😊❤

Great video, congrats on your journey. Im curious when you went as I just finished the Camino on Sept. 24 this year. I took the exact same route until I veered at the Spiritual Variant. Our paths could have crossed, who knows? What an amazing experience! I took 16 days (walk slow and old, ha) took lots of pictures and stopped at too many bars:) Thank you both for providing a wonderful video that brings me lovely memories! Cheers!

Did y’all do a blog on what you packed? I’m wondering what you packed that weighed so much.
We didn’t do a packing vlog but it was mainly our camera gear and laptop etc. a normal pilgrim should get away with a lot lighter packing 😉
@cjexplores did you take a sleeping bag/sleeping bag liner or did the albergues provided you with blankets?
We did take sleeping bags with us but we hardly used them because most of the albergues actually had blankets and duvets.

After tui the alternative route through the woods is the new route the industrial route is the old one that's going away, the signs just hint otherwise because businesses that sell to pilgrims put them up. Also I stayed at ideas hostel I loved it too.
I also stayed at the albergue you decided not to because it wasn't pilgrim only, shame because it was one of the best I stayed at.
Finally it's also a shane you arrived in pardon the wrong time of day because it was by far my favorite town along the way, it had the friendliest locals i had net the entire time

Isn’t it funny how a simple first impression or a simple decision not to stay in a certain place can have such different outcomes! At that point I was trusting the girls intuition and went with what they felt. But it could have been an interesting stay. And Padron, looked like it was a cool place but just completely dead when we arrived! I’m sure if we chose to stay there it would have been a completely different impression!!

We posted our stuff from a post office in Spain to the Central Post office in Santiago de Compostela. They held it for us while we walked 😊 you could probably post your stuff from a Portuguese post office as well.

@@isabellaw I think they hold luggage for quite some time. I’m pretty sure you pay for a longer hold time if you require it. So when you post it you will be able to pay for a few weeks or over a month depending on how long you will take 😊

No, not at all really. We aren’t overly active people, but we do enjoy a good walk 😊

You do know when you are in the church in Santiago they literally say in FIVE LANGUAGES to not have your phone out taking pictures or videoing and to have some manners and respect. Repulsive
Hi there, apologies but we did not see the sign (that footage is from 2018 so I’m not sure if it’s been updated since?) but many were filming during the botafumeiro and no one was asked to stop. The mass was not filmed (maybe that’s the part that is not allowed)
