This video is about a 11 day - 260 km walk along the Camino de Santiago Central Português from Porto in Portugal to Santiago de Compostela in Spain, where we pass through Vila do Conde, Rates, Barcelos, Ponte de Lima, Tui, Pontevedra, Padrón.
Experience some spectacular scenery along the way.
The Camino de Santiago, known in English as the Way of St. James, is a network of pilgrims' ways or pilgrimages leading to the shrine of the apostle Saint James the Great in the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia in northwestern Spain, where tradition has it that the remains of the saint are buried.
Typically it takes at least a few weeks to cover the route, allowing for a few days rest days along the way, but most pilgrims in Portugal start the Camino Português walk at Porto, as it only takes about 10 to 14 days to walk the 260 km Central Route including rest days.
If you want to see a walk from Lisbon I have a video here: • Camino Português - Lis...

Thank you for posting. Appreciated the drone views.
Glad you enjoyed it! Drone views are always great.
I have enjoyed you videos and summaries of El Camino Portuguese routes. Thank you
Thank you very much!
Thankyou ! I LOVE how you started out by the coast and made your way onto the Central route.
Am now more inspired!
I am glad it inspired you. Bon Camino!
I absolutely LOVED your video and communication style.
I’m considering the Camino Portuguese for my first Camino (57 yrs old) but based on everything I’ve read about the literol/coastal vs literol/central routes I still keep leaning to the CP! Your video confirmed that that’s the route for me! I will look at the change in cross over points that you mentioned you would do differently. Thank you for sharing with us!!
Thank you very much...and Bon Camino!
Great video! Absolutely beautiful! We will be doing the coastal route starting out of Porto on December 29. Your use of the drone is very very well done and the scenery really gets me pumped!
Thanks!
Thank you. The Coastal Route is very nice. Buen Camino!
Thanks Rolf. Four of us are walking this route in June 2024 and your video was really helpful.
You are welcome! Download my PDF guide it has links to all the places I stayed at. Link is in the description.
Me too same date
Very nice video! I really enjoy the serenity of your video's...(if that even makes sense in english?) I like your choice of music, and your personal comments, it gives one a good idea of what to expect. I will have to wait one or two years before I can go (I have an old dog, don't want to leave her behind) and so for now, it'll have to be just a dream. Thank you for sharing!🤠
Thank you... There are more to come soon.
Buenísima tu guía Rolf, Peregrinos somos✨. Buen Camino !! ⬆️
Gracias!
Hello Rolf,
thank you very much for this amazing video!! 😍 I could not imagine a better Christmas gift! ✨✨
Maybe you can remember me. I am Jannika from Germany, we had a talk the morning we started in Tamel and had dinner in Caldas de Reyes and Santiago.
I cannot imagine how much work you put in this lovely video. To see all the albuerges, villages and people again is wonderful! Thanks for such a great memory.
I wish you all the best for your next adventures,
Jannika
Hi Jannica, great to hear from you. I'm glad you liked the video and that it brought back some memories. It was a great walk! I wish you a Merry Xmas and Happy New Year!!!
Thank you for such a detailed video report (plus accompanied by great background music^^)! Im planning to go Camino Portuguese this autumn so now I'm collecting all the possible information and people's experiences! Your vlog was extremely helpful and fun to watch! All the best^^
Thank you! I am glad you enjoyed it and the music. I have a PDF of the info for the route... the link is in the description. Buen Camino!
This past October i walked the Portuguese from Lisboa to SDC and beyond. The day i waked into Porto it was raining and it proceeded to pour the next 2.5 weeks. Its good to see what i missed as most of the way i was walking with my head down in a futile attempt to stay dry. Thanks 😊
I lucked out ... :) Hopefully your next Camino will be less wet.
Thank you so much!
You're welcome!
Another great video, thanks. I really enjoyed watching it.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks so much. Really great video. And fantastic website - I'm very happy to have found such a great resource.
You are welcome!
Very well done video! Thank you for all the work you put into it.
Thank you!
Bellisimo Caminho de Santiago.
Gracias!
A good walk, which I intend doing in may. But how come we didn’t see you chatting with other peregrinos? That’s always something I enjoy when I watch Camino videos. When I walked the CF the social side was something I really liked. Now to choose which route to take!
I do enjoy the social part and chattin. Most people don't like to be filmed or be put on youTube...:)
Beautiful video planning to do it September 2025 thank you
Buen Camino!!
❤
Buen Camino
Danke! Ich werde es anschauen... Buen Camino!
Very very nice video. By the way your shoes look great. Which ones did ya use?
Thank you very much. My shoes are Nike Trail... love them as they have very wide toe boxes...
Excellent documentary of the route. Did you take and use a drone too? Thank you.
Thank you! Yes I did.
Really enjoy your videos. May I ask the brand of your rain/pack cover poncho?
Thank you. The cover and the poncho are from Decatlon in Spain.
Beautifully done. Thank you for sharing. Helps with planning. Have you done a Camino to Fatima?
Most of the Camino Portugués is basically the Caminho de Fátima. I have walked the Portugués from Lisbon and the first few days are the same then there is a turn off following the Blue arrows. Any place North of Fátima the Blue arrows ware pointing opposite of the Yellow Camino Portugués ones. I have walked from Fátima to Tomar which is quite nice.
I see. Again, thank you very much for sharing your walks. Your video's are beautifully done and most appreciated ❤
thank you!
Can I ask what size pack you used. I love the video.
Hi. I am using a 40 liter REI Trail 40 pack. I really like it's design as one can easily access ones water bottle in the side pockets with taking the pack off.
Beautiful video and account of your Portuguese Camino. Were you using an Insta 360 X3 cam?
What drone were you using? Thank you
Thank you. I used the insta360 One R and a DJI Mini 3 Pro and my Samsung Note 10 +
11:11 Were you sleeping next to a freakin' lion, Rolf? Blimey! There's snoring and then there is that. 🙉 🤣
It was pretty bad...but amazingly enough I have had worse....
Nice video Rolf, thanks. What is the name of the Albuerge stayed in outside of TUI that you like so much? Also, on the same topic, where is the key to the Portela that you ended up staying at?
The one outside of Tui is Hostal A Troita. The albergue after Portela was A Filo de Mar in Arcade. I have a PDF with all the information link is in the description.
Thanks, I really enjoyed this. You have a good style.
Thanks!
Great video. May I ask what time of year you were there and what did you pack? It looks a little heavy?
Thank you. I walked in September. My pack weighed 9 kg. mostly due to the extra the drone and equipment to film.
Right! Yes that equipment can be a burden but I’m sure glad you did because your video is wonderful. My wife and I are going for our first Camino from Porto next September. We only have 10 days but we really want to try it before we do a full Camino when I retire the next year.
I’m not sure yet if we will do the costal route or interior?
Thanks a bunch for getting back to me.
Cheers 🍻
Hi Rolf. Your website appears to be down, so I was unable to download your .pdf
Sorry, not sure what happened. It may have been the link: Please try this one: www.rolfscaminos.com
How difficult is it to add on a trip by vehicle to Fatima at the end of the Camino de Santiago? I have limited time so would need to transportation for that leg.
Not very difficult... Fátima can easily be reached from Porto or Lisbon by bus. But to tell you the truth it isn't all that pretty and very touristy...
What shoes did you wear?
I have use Nike trail runners. Wildhorse and Pegasus They have nice wide toe boxes.
Which of your ponchos do you prefer? I have seen you wear 3 including an Altus and what looks like a Decathlon orange one
I actually only have 2 . The Altus is a bit more compact and lighter, but I think the one from Decatlon keeps you drier...
@@rolfscaminos thanks that was my impression given the spec with the Decathlon one having more than twice the water resistance. Watched a number of your videos yesterday and today. Your coverage of the underfoot conditions is very helpful. Italy this year for me on the Via Degli Dei as opposed to Spain.
Enjoy your walk!
Hello, what month was your Camino?
It was in September
Where a u from Rolf's,? your english is perfect
Thank you. I am German born in South Africa... :)
I’am watching your primitive Camino
Nice but look hard
Thank you again
You are welcome
You have a lot of footages of filming yourself walking by. That's a lot of foot walks back and forth in order to place the camera and take back the camera after finishing the shoting. Just wonder how do you move the POV while walking? I didn't see your hand holding the bluetooth controler.
Indeed, there is a lot of walking back and forth. The POV while walking are done with my phone... the ones where it follows me are done with a 360⁰ camera.
@@rolfscaminos Got it. Thanks.
You are welcome.
This guy seems to like coffee... 😂
indeed!!!
For Camino... Coffee...
keep here alite rolf
not quite sure what you are saying...:)
