In the video I say I would talk about a time we almost didn't find an Albergue - this was in Pontevedra, a point where the 3 paths of the Camino Portuguese meet up and it becomes really busy just before you his Santiago. We planned to camp so didn't call ahead, then decided later in the hike we wanted a comfy bed, so decided to try our luck and go into town. We got turned away from two places, then the 3rd place the lady pulled some strings and found us a bed in the back. Lesson learned: Call ahead!
I like your documentary! The information in the beginning and throughout the video, the short clips that capture everyday life, the use of google earth to give us an overview and the good choice of calming music in the background. Keep it up! :)
Hey thanks so much for your feedback and kind comments on our video 😀 thank you for watching, we really appreciate it!
I love the pace, the views the building s countryside, especially knowing that my dad this route to Santiago in June 1952.
This is one of the best Camino videos I've watched and has definitely helped to cement my intention to walk the Camino Portugues this summer. Thank you for sharing :)
Wow what a lovely comment to read! Thank you Becca, we're so happy you enjoyed the video and have decided to complete your own Camino journey - good luck with it all! Bom Camino!
I can really recommend the 3 day trip from Santiago to Fisterra. Best way to finish off the Camino, watching the sunset into the ocean by the Fisterra lighthouse.
That's something we certainly could have added to the end of the video. We had the chance but didn't take it, but lots of people we met went for a day trip there. Thanks for reminding us :)
We walked to Muxia after Fisterra. Only two days further and could be done in just one day. But also a nice area.
Very, well done documentary, really enjoyed it, thank you! I've walked the Camino Frances three time, now getting ready to do the Camino Portuguese!
Amazing, good luck! We hope it's a great trip.
Thank you for sharing your adventure with us, and making it so clear about what's entailed. This looks magical.
Thanks so much for the kind comment, Kerry. Bom Camino.
Come on Pedro!
Such a stunning video guys: it captures the essence of the trip. Keep making more 💯🙌
Thanks for the lovely comment Nige!
Helpful tips for the practical and enjoyment. Thank you!
Thanks Kathy!
This makes me want to go again. I recently watched a CZcams that just turned my stomach. I thought, wow, I’d better rethink this. But this CZcams! Wow! Im back to knowing I must do this and want to use this same route. Thank you!
Hey Kathy, glad we could turn you back to CZcams! Which route did you take may I ask?
Such a beautiful job of telling the story of your trip.
Thanks for the kind comment :)
Such a great overview of the Camino Portugues with little tips sprinkled throughout. Great footage as well. Cheers!
Thanks for the kind words, Alex!

You should!
Thank you. Very clear and informative. I like the documentary quality. Thank you!
Thank you so much for your feedback! We're very happy you found it helpful. Bom Camino!
Well done ❤
Beautiful video.❤
Thanks for the kind words!
Buen camino..nice shoot to documentary magical journey🙏🏻👍
Thank you very much! We're so happy you enjoyed it 😊
This is an amazing video. I did the central myself a couple of years ago and thoroughly enjoyed that. However I am definitely convinced when I do the Portuguese again I'm going to do the coastal littoral like you did
We were tempted to go to the central as other travellers we were with were making the switch but we never ended up doing it! If we do the Camino again, it will be one of the northern Spain routes.
@@SojournWithUs I have heard that the Camino del Norte is good AND challenging. Buen Camino
Love it! Well made :)
Thanks Racoonhat! Glad you enjoyed. Bon Camino.
Legal! Farei o mesmo caminho em setembro! Excelente vídeo,😊😊😊

Bom caminho, amigo! Obrigado 🙏🏻
Good work clear no annoying music blocking your speech
Thanks Seamus!
Nice. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching, Terry!
@@SojournWithUs My wife and I hiked the Camino Portuguese this fall. Check it out, www.youtube.com/@comewithusnexttime5082
@@TMacYYC Oh cool! We have just checked out your channel - some really great content and beautiful captures from your Camino journey 😊
Terrific
Thank you for sharing. I'm thinking of doing the Central route, which I think is about 20 km shorter.
That's awesome - we hope you enjoy your Camino experience as much as we did 😀 thanks for watching. Bom Camino!
I did the Portugues (Litoral > Central > Spiritual) in September. The only place I had a problem finding a bed was Almenteira because it had only one albergue with few beds and it's privately run so it accepts reservations. I had no problems getting a bed elsewhere because I always stayed at municipal albergues which don't allow reservations and I was usually one of the first to arrive.
Hey Andy thanks for sharing your experience! It's definitely a great way to do the Camino: starting off early in the mornings to be the first to arrive at the Albergues. Did you love your Camino experience? Will you do another route in the future?
What time do you usually arrive at the Albergues?
Doing this exact route in 2024. ♥️
Very well done guys! Bummer about the drone though. We'll be taking this route soon so this video was also super helpful in addition to being fun to watch. Subbed, liked, looking forward to more. All the best! Kattie & Chris
Sorry for the late reply to this! Thank you for a lovely comment. We hope your own Camino journey is an amazing experience for you! Best wishes, Bom Camino!
Which month did you do this?
This was Aug
Very best video
Thank you! We appreciate your feedback 😄 glad you enjoyed the video.
dope!!!!!👀👀👍👍
awesome ! you just went by my town -- povoa de varzim :)
We loved Povoa de varzim! The beach there was really nice 😀
Nice documentary ! Question- is the trail hilly or mostly flat ?
The Camino Portuguese is sometimes hilly but not as much as the Frances. I would say the Portuguese way is mostly flat but you will definitely encounter hilly sections, especially in the central way.
Very nice. We are ready to go. Pedro ... where are ya
Out there following more hikers we suppose.
Very well done documentary! One question, On average how many hours a day were you walking? I plan on during this hike down the road with my lads ( The Rolling Bones ) and would love to put this trip out there to them. We're a group of old dudes who have been biking and hiking for manny years and this trip would be amazing. All the best and thanks for posting this video
That's awesome - I wish you good luck with your travels. I would say about 8 hours a day at a normal pace, and that's including breaks. We'd leave the Albergue at 7-8am and arrive at the next town at perhaps 5pm. This trip would be perfect for you guys. Let me know if you have any more questions - check out our other video that gives some packing advice.
@@SojournWithUs Thanks for getting back to me. All the best
Great video! What month did you complete this?
Thank you for the kind words :) We went in August.
Im looking to do this next year
How big were your backpacks? And what kind do you have?
Mine was 55L (iirc) and Holly's was 65L, but we opted to go the bigger route because we camped a few times (carried our own tent). You can get away with a smaller pack for sure (and most people do). We cover this in our packing video for the camino: czcams.com/video/2i1vqOGTBEE/video.html&ab_channel=SojournWithUs
Not sure but did you do the coastal or along ocean
Hey, we followed the coastal route, which hugs the ocean/coastline for a lot of the way - especially in Portugal. Hope that helps!
What route did you take? It wasn't said.
It was the Coastal Route :)
Would it be difficult to do the trip in a quicker time
Hey, we were covering between 20 and 30km every day, so it depends on your fitness level and what you can do. We also took 2 rest days within these 15 days, so that we could enjoy the places we were passing through as well. So we took 13 hiking days to complete this Camino. This worked for us, as we didn't get any injuries or blisters and we felt great every day.
Thanks for your question, Bom Camino!
Sólo 4 minutos dedicais al Camino en Galicia. Santiago de Compostela, capital de Galicia. Vigo (Galicia). Creo que casi no os habéis enterado del tránsito del Camino por Galicia. Una pena.
We loved Galicia! Sorry we didn't cover enough in this video for you - our drone broke so we weren't able to film it as much as Portugal. We actually spent 5 days in Santiago de Compostela to get the most out of it. We were very interested to learn about the Celtic history of Galicia, a connection felt particularly by Holly, who has experienced a similar culture in Wales where she is from.
That being said, we have a lot of videos about our time in Galicia, go check them out!
What time of year did you go?
Hey, we went between July and August. Bom Camino!
@@SojournWithUs thanks, I'm planing on late July! No issues with the heat?
Also, did you feel waterproof shoes were necessary?
@@pmax4182000We didn't find the heat too bad, it's just really important to stay hydrated (luckily there's a lot of places to get water along the way, we didn't find this difficult). We also had some cooler/rainier weather to break up the heat, and some small sections of the hike have tree cover. As long as you're prepared and your body is acclimatized to hiking, you should be okay!
@@pmax4182000No we didn't have any waterproof shoes with us for the hike. We have a few kit list and packing tips videos on our channel specifically for the Camino, if you want to check them out for more info 😊
Brilliant 👍😊 helps my planning Del Norte plus end 🚲Porto May 2024❣️🍷😁🇪🇸🇵🇹

Glad we could help :) Have fun!
They didn,t go to finisterre ohh nooo
Unfortunately!
I just did it in 8 days.
Congrats mate! How was it this time of year?
great time, @@SojournWithUs
Glad to hear it :)@@dgsanchez1000
I was the other hiker you passed Pedro off to. He tasted good.
Compared to the Camino Frances in Spain, the Camino Portuguese is hopeless. Not enough Abergues, albergues not sign posted or anywhere near the Camino. If I hadnt had the number of a taxi, I am convinced that I would have been seriously ill trying to find the albergue. The infrastructure is totally inadequate. Don't bother.
Sorry you didn't have such a good time.
drones suck
Bad experience with one?
@@SojournWithUs I have had only negative experiences with drones, seeing them unexpectedly invading spaces that were once natural, tranquil, or awe inspiring. while I can understand the interest from a camera/film hobbyist point of view, they are incredibly disruptive to any scenic place for basically everyone except the drone operator. i am not even touching on what they invoke outside this disruption - war, surveillance, the grip of tech, etc.
@@wgl2 Yeah I hear you. There's an increased number of "No Drone Zones" popping up, and we're definitely on board with it for some of the reasons you mentioned. There is definitely a downside to recreational drone usage, including the disruption of wildlife. When we use our little DJI mini, we do so away from people, because we know how we would feel if we hiked up a mountain for peace, only to be hearing an annoying buzzing sound. We also only fly for under 10 minutes as to minimize our impact; we try to be responsible and respect the No-fly zones. We hope that other drone-users are flying responsibly, but that's not always the case, so we are 100% on board with increase of no-fly zones, especially in nationalprovincial parks.
