    The singer designed and made the costumes for the band. His day job was working with special effects.

    That was the best win in esc history. Nobody expected them to win from first impression. Then they smashed it. I get goosebumps everytime. Just a good mood song🤣🤣🤣

    everything was sung live; the only exception from this rule was this year, they allowed recordings for backing vocals and things like that because of the pandemic

      Exactly, the singing always has to be live in normal years. One band this year (Iceland) didn't perform live at all, though, since one of them was tested positive, and they instead showed a recording of a rehearsal. Still, that was an exception due to special circumstances.

    Durring whole Eurovision they were in their masks and costumes. All rehalsals, interviews, and performance ( semi-fimal and final). They do not show their face all 2 weeks.
    And they have no foto without masks thats true dedication.

      Actually there were some photos that got leaked to the press and ended up published on several newspapers and magazines leaving both the band and the readers very piss off about it. Also drummer Kita (Sampsa Astala) got kicked out of the band after performing unmakes with his own band.

    Regarding the intro: usually during each eurovision the intro that presents the artist shows footage of places from the hosting country. 2006 was hosted by Greece so all the intro clips show bits and pieces of areas in Greece or Athens.

      I think as an American he doesn't grasp the European TV landscape. This show is aired live on a tv network in every participating country (and beyond). Every network sends a 'commentator' like in sports to the venue and they will update the audience in their own language during these little movies. In this video you see the video (and hear the commentator) of the Spanish tv network TVE, this particular show is in Greece and produced by the Greek tv network and the hosts of the show speak English. You cannot get more European than that, can you? 😉

      @@raffaelae1020 so true his commentary is legendary. It's also hard to explain to Americans that the voting is the most exciting part of the show... but as soon as my American friend experienced the show and voting live with a bunch of people at a party she was sold for life! 😉😊😊

    The intro video before every song is simply put there to allow the stage to be set up for the next performer - remember that this is ALL live, and with every act having completely different staging! (it's a miracle, honestly)

    Lordi got my vote in 2006. Worthy winners!
    Btw: All performances are live. The only exception ever was this year with backing vocals because of covid, and Icelands contribution because one member had tested positive (they sent them as recording).
    An amazing show!

    Intro is called a postcard, it gives the organisation time to set up the stage for next act and its usually showing parts of the host country.

    yes, the fire came out of his mike/axe. Have been watching Eurovision for 30 years, 1st time I voted. They deserved it. The live was not sung greatly but the song is solid, the studio version is fantastic.

    They were the last band to win until this year . You should do a reaction to the intermision act from this year where winners from previous years sing a part of their songs , Lordi included . Interval act - Rock the roof its called .

      This was the first year pre-recorded backing vocals was allowed and that was a test partly to keep delegation sizes small. More than one act had troubles in Semis because they tried to style the performance on the fly with audience, and backing track bit them in the ass.

    The music is recorded before but the singing is live - both rules of Eurovision. There's a really cute video of the German guy, the Norwegian guy and the Ukrainians all headbanging to these guys when they performed in the interval between the performances and the voting announcements this year. Ironically a rock song and the Finns sent another rock band who were happy that they got their best result in years.

    Just pointing before they went to Athens to sing in the festival the majority of the population and the government of Finland didnt support them. They even said Lordi's members ate babies for Christmas. It was told that the own band had to pay for the festival (It is usually funded by the government). So congratulations to the band. I voted for you.

    Eurovision songs have to be sung 100% live. No autotune or any artificial help, no recordings. This year they relaxed the rules a bit due to the pandemic but I think they're going back to normal next year.

    The competition was indeed in Greece, but if you are hearing spanish, it's because the you have a video from a SPANISH broadcast.
