    Fun Fact:
    Mr. Lordi makes all of the costumes for the band members and himself. He's a really cool dude :D

      @koda55 Před 3 lety +8

      He does?!?! As a finn I'm embarrassed I didn't know this😐😳

    • @ExistierenderExzentriker666
      @ExistierenderExzentriker666 Před 3 lety +8

      Yes, Mr. Lordi is a professional fx make-up artist and sculptor.
      They help each other putting them on because it takes around an hour. And usually there are new costumes and masks after every album.
      He also designs the album covers as well if I remember correctly.
      No need to be embarrassed we can't all know everything :D I am just really fascinated by this band. I respect the craftsmanship and dedication it takes to pull this off so well.

      Mr. Lordi, at least at some point, was working as a storyboard artist for movies. So I'd wager he planned their show down to the individual camera angles and timings.

    I remember this night well. Us Lordi fans were sure that they wouldn't let our band win the contest. Lordi was so different from anything Eurovision had seen before, and on top of that there was this smearing campaign against them where media all over Europe shunned Lordi, calling them Satan worshippers, mocking them for hiding their faces (even now the band has refused to show their faces) and what have you. But as it turns out, Lordi didn't just win, they got the best score any country had gotten in the contest before. Like the vocalist Mr Lordi says, they were the wrong band in the wrong place, but at the right time.

      I remember that day too. It was just me and only one other guy in the whole school that liked metal music and we would be called satanists by our classmates because of Lordi. I used to tell them "those guys are going to be the winners of the contest easily". I believed the power of metalheads uniting would be too much for Eurovision and well we all know how this went in the end haha

    This year... oh boy do I remember it! Us finns went CCCRAZY after this won! I was in the victory party in Finland when Lordi came there. And yeah, 80 000 people stuck in the middle of the Hellsinki! It was amazing! Still get goosebumps!!

      @@infin8reactions The answer is NO. Yes there is some partisan voting Greece/Cyprus the Scandic coutrues voting for each other etc. But now there are 39-42 countries taking part so even with the few votes being political there are way to many others t more then balance it out and allthough i didnt like the Italian winner this year the result bore that out. As for the UK being Crap, yes the last 20 years have not been good with 2-3 exceptions. during the 60's, 70's and 80's the uk were statically the highest rated country. And 2nd highest in the 90's. Over all we still rank as the most successful country in the contest overall with 5 wins and 15 2nd places. The only 2 countries have more wins Sweden 6 and Ireland 7. Not having a go at you but just providing some information.

    Great one!
    I'm still mad Nightwish didn't get the chance to participate at the year 2000. They even won the televotes 😤

    • @1981juhis
      @1981juhis Před 3 lety +1

      And Nylon Beat won the judge votes.. And what did they do, they send Nina Åström to represent Finland that year🤦♂... What a joke! But actually I'm glad that Nightwish didn't get into Eurovision🤔, I think it's more often a burden than a reward to have that "ESC-stamp" on you. I think, atleast in Finland Lordi for example has "suffer" from that quite a bit afterwards

    Actually metal and rock fans did plan for the win like months before contest, every country votes for winning song where like from people calling to certain number and then pressing number, they also might have tried internet voting thingie back then etc. In metal music forums back then it was talked like a lot that this time we will give the finger to that poshy pop genre dominating Eurovision and metal/hard rock will rise from being underground music style to public eye, it worked at least in Finland, way metal music was seen changed in one night.
